Pvcase is so helpful to accelerate and improve the process of electrical design, cable routing and ground grading works.

The main downside is the way the licenses work, it could be improved a bit.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

PVCase Ground Mount enables engineers to rapidly design, update and review ground mounted projects. I have used PVCase for 4.5 years almost daily and have been consistently impressed by the customer support offered. New features are regularly added and the tutorials provided clearly explain how to use them. When diving into a detailed design the electrical features and Bill of Materials export formed a key part of the process. New members of the team have been able to learn how to use it quickly and it is easy to implement within an existing design team.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

The bill of materials export doesn't differentiate between the length of cable in/out of a trench. As ducting is common, it would be great to be able to split this out to make EPC costing quicker.

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Designing Ground Mounted Solar PV is a repetitive and time consuming task. PVCase Ground Mount provides AutoCAD tools which speed up the design process. This means a single engineer can now design multiple sites a week, while also extracting the shading scene to run a yield analysis, or the Bill of Materials to calcualte the EPC cost.

The fact that it is an add-in in Autocad is offering so many features. I can use all the functions built in Autocad alongside other functions built for PVCase. The program is also very easy to deal with for first designs as well as detailed.

Being an Autocad plugin is sometimes not the best thing, because autocad requires much memory from the computer.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

PVcase Ground Mount is a great asset, increasing the productivity of the Utility Scale photovoltaic plant study department. The tool is easy to use and very intuitive. Very useful for quickly implementing and calculating the slopes that affect the structure.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

In our opinion:
-Many clients ask us for earth movement calculations, we need to be able to provide them with reliable data, but in our experience, the Civil Analysis tool is not entirely accurate.
-The cost of the annual license means that it must be very justified within the organization that the license is profitable per user.

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very useful for making quick layouts and seeing which power and pitch are the most optimal. Also useful for determining the slopes of the structure. The electrical measurements part is also very useful for projects where the plant's BOP is carried out.

The speed in the design of a photovoltaic plant. The elimination of human error in the design. The automation of layouts and optimization of peak power.

At the moment, I haven't found any. Perhaps electrical calculations, even if they are not specific, but indicative in calculating section and voltage drop under premises of ground thermal resistivity and type cable ampacities.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

It is a fast and easy-to-implement program, shortening the design times for photovoltaic plant layouts, where it allows you to iterate and evaluate designs with different main equipment, and on the other hand, it helps you optimize the times for electrical measurement calculations (Low Voltage DC and AC Cabling, SCB Distribution, Trench Typology, etc.) and civil works (Earthworks, apply Following Terrain tools like Nextracker's XTR, elevation profiles with their slopes, etc.), allowing for more studies since less time is spent than before, when it had to be done manually.

It also allows you to integrate many of the easements and impacts of the corresponding plots, thus being quite realistic.

Emphasize also that the support is very good and constant, with training courses, meetings to resolve doubts or implement market improvements.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

PVcase relies heavily on its users, meaning the program is developed in part by incorporating feedback from suppliers, EPC contractors, and customers, which I think is great. However, on the downside, it sometimes takes a while to adapt to innovative market solutions, instead of getting ahead of them, such as the implementation of tracker tools that improve terrain adaptation and reduce earth movement, like the XTR of Nextracker's Monofila Horizon or the Following Terrain of PVH's Bifila Infinity.

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a product that has been very beneficial to the photovoltaic sector, helping to significantly reduce the design times of photovoltaic plants, allowing you to open up to different types of suppliers, whether with Central or String Inverters, Bifacial or Monofacial Trackers, and to try out these new configurations without having to manually redo everything.

On the other hand, it facilitates cable calculation, as it generates an Excel file with all the measurements of the designs made, eases civil calculations, allowing you to obtain earthworks, terrain slopes, add layers of hydrological studies, etc., and then allows you to export your layout with the terrain to PVsyst to perform a simulation as realistic as possible.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

PVcase Ground Mount has represented a leap in productivity for the Utility Scale photovoltaic plant study department. From the start, the tool, which is presented as an AutoCad add-on, is easy to use and intuitive, featuring a quite comprehensive help platform and online training courses from an initial level to more advanced use cases.

In our case, the usual use is for the design of grid-connected photovoltaic generation installations with distribution and transmission networks between 20-250 MWp. In this field, the PVcase Ground Mount tool is of great help to create several layout options with solar trackers, optimizing parameters at discretion (pitch, power, GCR, etc.).

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

On the other hand, there are some points to improve in our opinion:

-The calculation of earth movements using the Civil Analysis tool is not entirely reliable, especially in terrains with varying slopes and orientations.
-The configuration of solar trackers that adapt to the terrain is somewhat cumbersome, and their export in PVC format for use in PVsyst is often problematic.
-Cost of the annual license

PVCASE GM helps us quickly implement trackers to achieve the most optimal plant and is very useful when there are multiple plots to know what power is being installed in each of them and to calculate the number of inverters and transformation centers to install. Additionally, it facilitates obtaining electrical measurements.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

The ability of PVCase GM to perform layout iterations in a given site with different configurations to achieve a certain installed peak power, optimizing various design parameters such as pitch or the necessary aisle spaces for the execution of roads and electrical trenching.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

At the level of civil analysis, it would be interesting to be able to estimate and break down the earthmoving work in excavation and embankment for each range of levels indicated in the system module, also indicating how much 2D area of land needs to be modified. Currently, the heat map generated by PVCase GM only considers all earthmoving work in the same group, without this detailed breakdown. In any case, the support team is always ready to help quickly with any questions or suggestions, and I am sure that for this suggestion as well as others, we will obtain improvements!

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All the doubts and inconveniences encountered when carrying out the projects have been resolved very quickly and kindly by the software's technical team. At the civil level, there is some note already discussed with a PVCase colleague, and I am sure there will soon be news and improvements.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

The tool allows you to convert any DWG file to your own work environment very easily. It is very useful and very easy to learn to use both for creating the initial layout and for later designing all the electrical wiring of the plant for both LV and MV with different configurations (central inverter, string inverter...). Additionally, you can export all that information to an Excel file, which, if you know how to handle Excel well, provides you with a lot of very useful information to work with. Moreover, it is updated quite frequently with customer "reviews."

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

For the case where the plant design is with buses, the tool still does not have a way to independently obtain the electrical measurement (with the Excel file and with Visual Basic you can get an approximation) and as I understand it, for earthworks, the tool is not very precise and usually results in a bit more than what you would get with a tool specialized in it.

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Above all, the speed when designing a layout or drawing all the electrical wiring. While before you used to take a long time on either of the two tasks (obviously depending on the size and complexity of the plant), even days in the case of electrical wiring, now we do the same work in just one day or less.

The ability to update and improve the software is noteworthy: PVcase grows as the sector grows, responding to the requirements of the different agents that comprise it. The continuous improvement of processes, design capacity, and adaptation to new products makes it an indispensable software. Also noteworthy is the technical support of PVcase: efficient and effective.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

A possible improvement: parameterization for the arrangement of trackers/tables and their classification based on wind load exposure, according to the criteria or requirements of each manufacturer. In large-scale projects, this would mean a substantial time saving.

Design and preliminary phase implementation of structures. Very useful when estimating the civil work (earthworks) involved in the installation of trackers/tables at a specific site. 
The incorporation of terrain-adaptable trackers is very favorable.

As a civil engineer, PVcase is a tool that allows me to perform my work very intuitively and quickly. It has many utilities in this field, such as for earth movement calculations. One of the things I use the most and is immediate is the importation of topography and terrain slopes. A very comprehensive software with many utilities in different fields.

Something I think could be improved is that you can't upload multiple .kmz files at once, so you have to upload them one by one. I think it's a useful feature that hasn't been implemented yet and could be improved.

When it comes to having to calculate earth movement for a piece of land and not having the topography, it is a tool that allows me to obtain that topography quickly and easily. Without a doubt, it is one of the things I like the most and is most useful for my work with PVcase.

PVcase performs a detailed shadow analysis to ensure there are no obstructions between the rows of panels, which would affect the system's efficiency.

It allows for the extraction of precise and reliable data from the generated layout.

PVcase allows for problem resolution and technical support available at all times with great speed. Updates and improvements are usually weekly, and the interaction with the application's developers is quite close.

Although PVcase offers custom design options, at some points we have encountered certain features or specific configurations that are not completely customizable, such as the case of bifacial structures with cardans to give a different inclination to each row.

The PVcase license is expensive considering that AutoCAD is also necessary.

PVcase may require significant resources, which could affect processing speed and user experience.

PVcase is expensive compared to other solar design tools. Added to this is the cost of the AutoCAD license.

These problems have no benefit, the only thing is to take them into consideration for the acquisition of the tool. It is true that the tool is very comprehensive and constantly improving.

A very useful tool for the design of photovoltaic plants, it allows for the reduction of work times by more than half, not only when implementing but also for the preliminary study of the land and the necessary civil works for the adaptation of the plots. Simple and intuitive interface that allows us to quickly learn how to use the program. Highlight its quick response and support team's attention to the questions that have arisen during use.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

What I probably appreciate the most about Ground Mount is the fact that is an AutoCAD plugin and gets very handy within my usual workflow. It helps me saving time in decision making in the very initial stages of a project, allowing me to quickly support colleagues with reliable and effective analisys. The interface is very user-friendly and for such reason I do not need customer support often. However, I find customer support to be very effective when needed, plus there are a lot of online tutorial and explanations which are often on point. Along with AutoCAD and PVSyst it is the tool I use the most during my day-to-day working experience.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

I would probably appreciate if the customizability of ground grading tool would be implemented, but it has already been improved alot since its launch, so I am quite satisfied with the level it has reched so far. I would like also if the electrical configuration could be kept when exporting the scene to PVSyst.

**What problems is PVcase Ground Mount solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to provide quick and reliable analisys to my origination colleagues. In times of high load of new opportunities to evaluate it really brings in the value allowing me to quickly make preliminar analisys with the standards required by the company, especially regarding design, land occupation and slope evaluation. It also improved the accuracy of yield estimation thanks to the possibility of exporting the scene into PVSyst.

PVcase allows quickly assess situation of the land plot, easily design PV tables and make corrections. It basicaly do everything right, sometimes functions works perfectly, sometimes you need to put some manual adjustment and with each update system works a bit better.  This is what you should expect for software that cost quite a lot.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

Least helpful function is cable layout from inverter to transformer station and string labelling. System can automatically calculate cables length which is a big plus, but you can't use it in the detailed design drawings, because cable cross each other for no reason. You can try to move them, but it is increadibly difficult when polylines are in 3D. 
Second worst thing is string labelling. If you use only one configuration then it is okay, but if need to make string labells according to inverter PV inputs, you will spend a lot of time manually changing labells by hand. It would greatly help if PVcase in future include inverter PV inputs and MPPT configurations.

What I like most about PV case is how easy it becomes to create an initial estimated layout. In about 5-10 minutes, you can have a quick analysis of the terrain and a first look at the layout that could be adapted to that terrain along with the information from this layout.

In addition to this, it offers a large number of options to delve deeper and take a step beyond what is simply a preliminary study.

If I had to add a comment for improvement, it would be everything related to land study. I think the topography provided by pvcase can save you from a tight spot, but it could be improved a bit to be more precise.

**What do you like best about PVcase Ground Mount?**

I  use Ground Mount basically every day for each new project, it is crucial to speed up the creation of layouts and  it is definitely the one that has more functionality compared to other softwares. One of the most interesting aspects is the possibility to work in 3D and manage the slope of the ground: thanks to the software, for example, I can instantly see which parts of the plant have collision problems with the ground or need higher supports. The technical support is also very efficient and you can make video calls to deepen some features and clarify any doubts.

**What do you dislike about PVcase Ground Mount?**

Some features have unclear steps and you need to familiarize yourself with the software to understand how much you can do. In addition, sometimes it happened that the export files (dae or pvc) presented problems detectable only through other softwares. I'm sure that in time everything will be fixed.

The program helped me to speed up the creation of layouts and make changes in the course of work, for example by updating the photovoltaic modules or excluding posterior restricted areas.
