## About Pulumi ESC
Pulumi ESC (Environments, Secrets, and Configuration) is a centralized secrets management and orchestration service that brings secrets sprawl and configuration complexity under control across your cloud infrastructure and applications. Pull and sync secrets from any store you already use, including HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, GCP Secret Manager, and 1Password, then consume them in any application, tool, or CI/CD pipeline. Use ESC alongside Pulumi IaC or entirely on its own. ESC groups secrets and configuration into environments that compose and inherit from one another, so a value defined once can flow into every environment that needs it. Every change is versioned, which makes rolling back or pulling an older version quick and low-risk. Short-lived, dynamic secrets become the easy default. Generate them on demand with OIDC and let them expire automatically, instead of leaving long-lived static credentials sitting on disk. ESC runs on the same Pulumi Cloud identity layer as Pulumi IaC: RBAC, Teams, SAML/SCIM, OIDC, and scoped access tokens. Secrets management follows the enterprise security policies you already enforce. Every access and every change is fully logged, so you can prove your secrets are secure, not just claim it. Developers stop copying secrets and pasting them into plaintext files on their laptops. They reach secrets through the CLI, REST API, Kubernetes operator, and the Pulumi Cloud UI, or directly in code with the TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and Go SDKs.

## Pulumi ESC Reviews
  ### 1. Scalable for every organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simen A. W. O. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Pulumi ESC?**

What I like best about Pulumi ESC is its flexibility and scalability. It offers a solution that can grow with your project's needs.

The best parts are that it's a configuration and secrets manager that integrates with things like 1Password, Vault, AWS Secrets Manager and Google Secret Manager. It is easy to scale with, starting small and giving you the options as you grow. One key feature that helps you when you grow is support for hiearchical configuration, making it easy to organize complex sets of variables.

I also really like it because it works seamlessly with Pulumi's ecosystem, and way it's built follows the same way their Infrastructure as Code software is built, which is great.

**What do you dislike about Pulumi ESC?**

Even as it's nice for smaller companies, it has a learning curve. Maybe espesially for those who are familiar with Pulumi.

On the same note, if your team only needs a simple .env files, Pulumi ESC might be unnecessary complexity. However, once you grow form a simple .env, your bet should be ESC.

**What problems is Pulumi ESC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us, ESC is addressing several challenges in our environment variable and secret management.

First and foremost, it solves the problem of environment variables falling out of sync among team members as projects grow. We control access tokens across many teams and projects, and it does so securely with their built-in way of storing and distributing secrets. We have integrate it with 1Password, which is our tool of choice. For us, we had cumbersome. The effect that ESC has for us, is reduced complexity and improved consistency across environments and projects.

  ### 2. A great tool to centralize your environment configuration and secrets

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Pulumi ESC?**

ESC is not just some vault to store secrets , it's a place to centralize your environment configuration and that can get secrets and settings from different sources (vaults and other tools). I like the fact it can integrate with many things.

Being able to retrieve from your ESC environment short cloud access tokens using OpenID Connect is awesome. Combined with Pulumi IaC, managing stack configuration becomes as simple as importing an ESC Environment.

One thing to mention is that we can manage an ESC environment using the new Pulumi vscode extension. I have recently tried it and it's my favorite way to add a secret or edit a configuration entry on ESC.

**What do you dislike about Pulumi ESC?**

Configuring OpenId Connect for Pulumi ESC to retrieve short cloud access tokens could be easier.

**What problems is Pulumi ESC solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralize configuration and secrets. Make secrets available easily in my terminal. Make secretless cloud deployments scenarios possible easily

  ### 3. Pulumi ESC simplifies and streamlines configuration and secret management
