As a platform, it’s intuitive, flexible and the inbuilt data visualisations are strong. I value the training modules and webinars. It still feels like a service designed for researchers, by researchers. The client service is second to none, compared to other platform providers. Big shout out to Emily and Alex in particular!

There are some limitations on functionality. The data cap impedes how our team use the platform.

If you are considering Pulsar as a platform, save yourself the time and move on to a different tool. 

Each time I use it there is a bug or an issue that prevents me from doing the task at hand. It's slow, it's clunky, the UX is impossible to use. 

I'm writing this review as I'm waiting for a job to finish running in the platform.

I like the software, and how it evolves! I have been using the tool for years now, and I have always been happy by the sales and support team.

Recently the current team is irresponsive when it comes to resolving issues. I had to rewrite the plan for my PhD because the data vanished. I sent countless email, received countless promises to resolve the issue but none has been implemented. I wrote an email to my university to state that the two years contract was useless and the contract was not respected by Pulsar. I am astonished by this as I am not at all used to this level of unprofessionalism especially that I used the tools for years.

I based my PhD data on Pulsar needed the historical data.

I have been using Pulsar for around a year now and I am constantly amazed by the depth of analysis that can be conducted and the insights that can be derived using Pulsar, all within a very user-friendly platform! Our dedicated Pulsar account managers also always provide excellent technical and strategic support - giving us advice on how best to use the platform and providing us with tips & tricks that can help us make the most of the tool & uncover brilliant insights that we might not have found otherwise. Their team is always available to support in any way they can.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

The only real limitations come down to the historical data restrictions imposed by platforms such as Facebook & Instagram (where, due to GDPR, we are only allowed to historically analyse the past 30 days of data) - but this isn't really a Pulsar limitation. In fact, the ability to collect realtime data on Pulsar helps us mitigate against that.

Using Pulsar, we have been able to uncover hidden truths/insights that we have used as the basis of some brilliant campaigns for some of our clients. The ability to create custom dashboards and share these with wider teams has really helped us achieve that.

**What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

Pulsar is great, whether you're a social listening pro with superb boolean skills or a complete novice who is not sure where to start. Pulsar caters to both and allows you to listen across a wider variety of platforms than many others. It also, and this is really important, looks good. So much social listening software is horribly designed, and Pulsar isn't. The insights are easy to understand, you're in complete control of how you search, what you look for and the charts you create. You can export everything in a variety of formats depending on what you want to do with it, and the charts are good looking enough you can drag them straight into client decks. The customer service is amazing, and if you have a suggestion they will often add it to the backlog. I've used loads of listening software in my time and Pulsar is the one I come back to time and time again as it's the best all round product. Oh, and that was before the integration with Audiense, which has added an extra layer of awesome to my insights. If you're serious about data-backed decisions, Pulsar is the clear choice.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

There's not much I dislike, I think the only thing is that RTs and shares are counted as mentions so it's quite easy to run out of mentions if you're listening around bigger topics and you don't want to switch off RTs.

I am at heart a social media strategist, and I wouldn't dream of creating a strategy without doing some listening with Pulsar first. It helps me identify my audience, flag potential pain points, streamline my sales funnel and inform my content strategy. And that's just for starters.

I like the competitor analysis feature. You can see the industry standard and your top competitors' overall performance and where you stand. 

Very helpful when you are trying to build brand affinity and make sure you stand out in the industry.

Not all social media platforms are connected yet. For example, no data from LinkedIn. Understand that it's a privacy issue, but other major platforms have their data collected. 

Also, the API connection for Facebook and IG analytics for six hours. We need more data and accuracy, please!

A robust tool that may require some training to really get what you're looking for.

Best quality is the step-by-step set up guide to help ensure queries are focused on the business outcomes the data is meant to support or validate. Ease and ability to specifically track and report upon unique content or brand profiles. Variety of modules and additional solutions to build out a robust insights engine for marketers and their clients.

Limitations with Twitter data with respect to country filter - unable to set country in order to collect data; must always be left open to "All" and rely upon strength of rest of query parameters to focus in on desired location.

**What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

Pulsar is a great platform with a relatively more user-friendly interface compared to many competitors. It offers a good blend of quality insight for your research, and ease of use. The minimalist design works well overall and the AI-generated visualisations are very intuitive. The support that comes with the platform is another strength. As well as available online support, the teams at Pulsar are always helpful and pleasant to deal with. 

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

Sometimes the platform may take a while to load the data. 
The search setup took some getting used to. However, this has been largely improved following the recent update allowing search setup with Boolean.

Take your time to read through the definition of the metrics used throughout the platform before using

**What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

Pulsar is by far and away the most user-friendly out there. It makes setting up searches super simple and then when it comes to exploring data it enables you to cut through quickly.  The setting-up advanced filters is simple and intuitive and the ability to create clusters is great for getting to really specific insights. Extraction of charts and data is very helpful and makes reporting easy. The regular stream of updates is always exciting to see coming through at such a pace. Plus the team are amazing - super helpful and very responsive.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

My main bugbear for a while now has been the search set-up wizard and the lack of advanced search set-up - it was an irritation as it could take a while to input your syntax, but this I am pleased to say has now been sorted out with a new update this week! Like many others, the platform can be a little slow at 'crunching the data' sometimes, especially at busy times of day, but its not too bad and often quickly picks up. :)

It's a great platform! Easy to use, constantly developing and fab team.

Pulsar allows us to get really deep into the data, really quickly. Specialising in healthcare we need to hone in on target audiences (typically patients, healthcare professionals, advocates etc.) across all our work and Pulsar enables us to do that.

**What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

We have been Pulsar customer since 2016 and the best part is that is always improving. We have use Trac, Core and the recent one Trends. All of them are easy to use and gives a lot of data. The best thing is that we can have plenty of users, so everyone can have access to the data.

The one we use the most is Core, that helps us analyze our own channels and competition. With owned channels, the plus is we can link our accounts. This permits us a clean are more throughout analysis of every channel (FB, INS; TW and YT). With the competition we can get public data so that helps to have it organized everything in one cluster.

With Trac is the same as Core, the thing you like the most is the easy way of using it and it´s visually clean.




**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

There is a few things one can dislike about Pulsar, most of the issues aren´t really their fault. With all the privacy actions that are being made by social platforms they have limited certain data. Besides that we haven´t had a real issue that made me dislike the tool.

Easy to use and with a good price.

Analyzing owned channels and reporting clients how is their channels behaving in social. The benefits are that is easier to show clients the data represented.

I have been using Pulsar to give me a better understanding of my company, Two Ugly Mugs social performance across FB, IG, Twitter, and YouTube. 

This has allowed me to create my own competitor landscape and learn where there are areas that I can improve on. 

It has also given me the opportunity to learn more about my customers and listen to their feedback. 

My account manager has been very patient with me, as this is the first social listening tool that I have used and he has shown me some very cool ways of how I can segment my data. 

Also, the visuals are badass.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

I do not like how you can not go back historically on CORE. 

Also, it would be great if they incorporated LinkedIn data to the platforms.

**What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

We've used Pulsar's social listening and profile monitoring suite to serve corporate research projects for two years. Our intelligence team uses Pulsar TRAC to measure conversation surrounding our own and our competitor's IPs, and the talent management team uses the CORE product to track post performance across our roster of on-air personalities.

Data are presented in minimalist, modern graphs and treemaps that scale well, offer customization in the displayed results and can be exported for use in our own presentations. The way the products have evolved over time reflects a development priority on understanding audiences through connected networks of influencers, and standard capabilities like top keywords and bio terms are available.

From a usability standpoint, Pulsar's products are lightweight and responsive, and reliably remember your browser. This makes them easier to open for a quick glance at data than competing services which can be slow to load or to log you in.

Pulsar's people are smart and resourceful, from account to tech teams to their own staff of researchers. As a US customer, they're often available for support very early in the morning and on weekends.

The social listening product (TRAC) covers data from Facebook public pages, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, and news/blogs/forums. The monitoring product (CORE) can pull in public-facing data from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. The platform itself is constantly evolving, with new features and innovations being incorporated into the platform regularly, meaning Pulsar always stays ahead of the curve and in-line with customer needs.

A more extensive FAQ/product guide on platform would be useful, as current version contains only very high level information. That being said, the chat function they have, which I believe spans time zones, is incredibly useful and the team are extremely responsive and take the time to address your query fully, so you're rarely left stuck with an issue.

Pulsar has access to Twitters full archive search and historical data is always a 100% sample which is different to Brandwatch which provides queried data. The platform is built to be quick and easy to use for people who aren't necessarily data scientists and I think it hits the nail on the head here.

The UX experience isn't top notch, some things are a bit fiddly and as someone who is very comfortable with building boolean queries I found the limitations on search building a bit frustrating.

Pulsar are the social media listening experts. The platform has become a core part of our clients' social media programmes, allowing us to tweak content and maintain online performance. Having tried every major social media platform on the market, Pulsar has the best capabilities and frequently introduces or refines its technology - in turn this allows Lansons teams to offer a more advanced service.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

The only niggle we face is reporting. Some of our clients prefer charts to be in their branding. So whilst Pulsar reports look great online, it can be tricky keeping things clearly understandable in a PowerPoint presentation. However, the Pulsar team always listen to feedback and eventually changes are made to the tool - so watch this space.

We're a multi-specialist communications agency, so we work across a variety of business issues. From managing digital marketing campaigns to providing online crisis management support. We find Pulsar flexibly suits all these situations, making it a universal social media listening tool that we would be poorer without. **What do you like best about Pulsar Platform?**

Pulsar is one of the only social measurement platforms I've used where you can log in and get all the information you need, it's the complete package. From the very basics of having all your channels metrics in one dashboard to being able to explore and better understand how your content's performing by analysing sentiment, your network and it's influencers the platform has everything you could ever need. 

One of my favourite features within the tool is how easy it to filter activity, when there's a lot of noise around your brand and you have multiple campaigns running it's sometimes hard to sift through the activity on other tools to find the key insights. However with Pulsar the filtering system make it so simple to find the information you are looking for.

The team are also always on hand to help, if I ever have any questions about the platform they are always quick to respond and happy to help. 

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

The view of reporting when logged into the tool is great, however one downfall is how that reporting loses it's effectiveness when downloaded from the tool. When you use Pulsar you get fantastic visual graphs which show everything really clearly, however when sharing the downloadable graphs externally they can lose their impact being a static image. I appreciate that there are limitations regarding formatting but it would be great to see greater detail in the downloadable reporting.

Through using Pulsar we've been able to easily identify our earned activity and attribute our social performance to other existing business metrics allowing us to prove the value of our social media activity.

Having worked with a number of social listening tools in the past - I find that Pulsar is easy to use and the layout of the dashboard means that you can very easily find useful and relevant information.

The tool has great segmenting ability too. Generally the quality of data is very good.

Having to have my backfill requests approved - but then again that's to stop me or my team going over my data limit and being charged so it's good too.

Setting up searches is very easy - the step by step process means you can't go wrong. It has access to all historical data on the platforms we use, so we know what it pulls is in comprehensive and will let us arrive at a definitive answer.

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

Differentiating between each product is awkward, I have no idea which name relates to which product and the icons don't really help. I'd love there to be text in that navigation bar at the top.

Historical searches don't happen immediately, which is understandable, but there's no real indication of when they will start to show data. A note such as 'The next historical search will launch at 10am BST' or similar would be useful.

**Recommendations to others considering Pulsar Platform:**

There are some features it doesn't include. We remain users of other software which gives us great page-level analysis of client social media profiles so we can easily compare things like levels of reach and engagement on an ongoing basis, whereas Pulsar is much better at analyising the actual content of what is posted. 

**What problems is Pulsar Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use each product in different ways, depending on the client need.

We monitor the content posted on client pages, and analyse keywords to identify topics we should post about in the future. It may not be obvious to the community manager that there is a common question until we see a large set of data together.

For some clients we monitor competitor pages and run comparisons which really helps us see where they are doing well and where we can help them improve.

Similarly, for new business pitches it helps us identify where clients are struggling on social media and where we should suggest they concentrate their efforts. Having the data to back up our suggestions has definitely help us win new business.

Pulsar interface is really easy to navigate. With the in depth training given at point of sign up, the tool is really easy to get to grips with compared to other tools I've worked with. 

With the ability to pull quick analysis on UGC and competitor activity, it makes a great resource for last minute insights for client meetings or ongoing monitoring.

I would love to see more insight into Instagram - popular filters, locations etc.

I would also like to see a way to click through from the influencer mapping, to click directly to the profiles. Having to copy and paste the handles to see the content posted is a time consuming task.

Analysing sentiment of a community is important for our clients. Having a quick stat to hand and also the deeper dive of emotions makes life easier!

Pulsar provides great depth and excellent companion graphical illustrations that help bring our analysis to life while imbuing our clients with a better sense of understanding of the Pulsar and its capabilities to shed light on impact to their business.

There are distinct advantages of being able to slice and dice the pipeline of data via geography and platforms that we have found to be immensely useful in adding value to our existing reporting depth. It also does not hurt that we have gained a lot of confidence in the natural language processing capabilities sentiment attribution as well as image processing capabilities. 

The support team has been nothing short of excellent albeit time differences in meeting our requests and asks. What is greatly encouraging is the constant ambition of the development team to keep growing features and incorporating feedback into future developments. The support team and account designee has always been accommodating and encouraging in making themselves available. 

**What do you dislike about Pulsar Platform?**

Would definitely appreciate a more accurate geographical attribution of data pull being as we might be listening to diverse Asian markets but from a purpose of platform and depth of data, there are no issues that we have yet to encounter. A more precise prediction by markets definitely helps us in our budget allocation and forecasting for pitches.

To keep up to speed with innovations and constantly have a say in the direction of platform development. What is really encouraging is that the support teams really do listen to feedback and escalate real issues to the development team.

We deploy Pulsar primarily as the digital intelligence platform of our choice for our clients and have found that the returns on our investment to be more than satisfactory. There is a great appreciation for the diversity and depth of data across digital universes of our clients plus the ease of setting up quick landscape studies. The platform offers great combinations of slicing data and extraction across geography and natural language processing with image attribution as key advantages of the platform above its peers.  

The flexibility of the team and platform has added more depth of analysis than we had before and in presenting our case for championing Pulsar and our capabilities in our market and our region, Pulsar's team has been very supportive and ever willing to provide materials and learnings from time to time.

Having the ability to copy keywords already set up from topic analysis rather than inputting again, Also ensuring alerts are sent through as they happy (as with Google alerts) rather than hourly or after a certain % increase in mentions.

Definitely give this software a try if you're looking for a more advanced alternative to existing social monitoring. However, if you really only need the basics this pricepoint might not be worth it to you since Facebook and Twitter offer that level of analytics on their own platform. I would really recommend this more for monitoring versus trying to measure your own account's social engagement.
