What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

i am a structural engineer with a mechanical background, and interested in physics. this software has been helpful in all domains imaginable, doing everything from plotting graphs to solving equations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

the original mathcad is more versatile but the look is outdated. the new mathcad prime seems to be not as powerful but looks more up to date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A powerful document creation and hand calculation solution."
5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

This software is powerful, and beautiful. I like to use MathCAD as an engineering word document. Create organized explanations of your steps and solve calculations that would take pages by hand in one line. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

The software takes a small learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MathCAD Magic"
5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

I really like the simplicity of moving variables and the aesthetics that I can create with the sheets, and the simplicity of creating sheets and sharing or reusing to perform iterations of calculations. I spent the entire summer in MathCAD and feel like I've just barely scratched the surface of its capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

One thing that drives me crazy about MathCAD is that I have not figured out how to make my variable flush/left-justified, making my sheets just slightly disheveled looking. We NEED a Mac version. Not sure if I want to run parallels. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I have been Using Mathcad for about 20 Years."
2.5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

Very easy to use for most calculations. The equations are displayed in "text book" fashion. Easy to read through the equations. Good examples given within the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

The programming mode is cumbersome and non intuitive.

Graphing is cumbersome.

Capability from earlier versions such as drop down and radio buttons not available in the new Prime Version Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"LOVE this product"
5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

I love that you can solve math problems easily using this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

Sometimes the solve block feature doesn't work as well as you might hope. It sometimes doesn't like if one number is too close to another, and will not work properly unless the spacing is correct. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MathCAD for the WIN"
5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

It is easy to use and quick for doing calculations (especially repetitive calculations). Additionally, it allows for quick changes in said calculations if you want to adjust values or are required to do the calculation multiple times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

Special values (like pi) or specialty statement (like if statements) can be confusing to learn, but otherwise I love it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

Most helpful tool at work which saves a substantial amount of time which would otherwise be carried out with hand Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

Sometimes it returns an error when there are some extra spaces in between the formulas. The auto correct feature doesn't pick them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"MathCAD is an elegant solution to analyzing engineering problems and provide professional reports."
4.5/5
What do you like best about PTC Mathcad Prime?

This product provides me with an elegant solution to analyzing complex structural engineering problems while in the same step providing output in a professional presentation. I espsecially am fond of the ability to perform matrix mathematics, allowing me to analyze and compare multiple combinations of conditions without the tedium of trial and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PTC Mathcad Prime?

The newer versions of this software seem to have taken a few steps backward in the manner in which they allow the user to format the final output. Page margins are no longer infinitely definable, but are not set to a select few setups. My customer expect to see their logo in the header of the final document. This was not a problem in the older version due to the flexible formatting options. The newer version, however, limits what I can, and cannot, efficiently use in the header. The net result is a bit less attractive output than what was once possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
