"Overall, the experience with Provar has been really good as it offers some amazing features."
4/5
What do you like best about Provar?

Some of its best features are its low maintenance and allowing data-driven testing with ease. It also helped to add some custom jar files and get the desired functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

Honestly, I have faced quite a few absurd random run time issues; also, the Provar Test Builder often does not respond. So would like such issues to be resolved permanently without having to upgrade to the latest version frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Richard Clark of Provar

Hi Abhishek, thank you for your review and apologies for the delay in response.

We've recently made some significant changes to Test Builder to tackle some environmental issues and a big performance upgrade. If you're not seeing these benefits please raise a Case with our support team so we can fix and remaining issues you have.

We also have changes coming in how we distribute updates to our application which will significantly help with user updates and reduce the need for local admin to install changes in the future.

What do you like best about Provar?

Provar is very easy to learn you just have to Drop and Drag the Fields and Functions and Provar will do its magic behind the scene.

Test Scripts were easy to read and Execute.

Setting up the complete CICD pipeline with Provar gave us test results on time and saved us a lot of manual effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

Sometimes Provar is slow and the IDE takes a lot of time to load.

One of the major downsides is there are no Training Licenses available for everyone to use or Free Courses so people can learn.

If we can have something like Salesforce Trailhead then many users can learn and explore the tool.

I know the tool is awesome and it's us lot of flexibility but it is expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Hello Mayank,

Thanks very much for your review! It sounds like you've been very successful with Provar, which we love to hear. :-) And, if you're executing tests as part of a CI/CD pipeline, you've got a pretty sophisticated process and are on your way or have already arrived at continuous testing. Saving time and delivering a positive ROI on your Salesforce and Provar investment are outcomes we hope to deliver to every customer.

Thanks also for your thoughts on training. The University of Provar is free and accessible by anyone working at a Provar customer. It's also available to interested testers who are not customers, the biggest difference being the certifications available (Provar Essentials). Customers can get both the Provar Essentials and Provar Advanced certifications. If you are still experiencing an unusual time to load, and this appears to be related to metadata loading, check out this support article about improving metadata performance - https://www.provartesting.com/documentation/?s=improve+your+metadata+performance. And, if that doesn't help, definitely reach out to the Provar Support team. They're fantastic at helping customers optimize their Provar environment.

"Very useful for automating all of the Salesforce OOTB components."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Provar?

I do not spend time by doing regression testing manually everytime we have a deployment. I simply run the test cases created and use the time for other work stuff while Provar runs all the tests on the background. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

For custom components, a new selector must be created which Provar is allowed to create and offer many options, yet sometimes the selectors are failing on test cases and we need to use alternative ways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Thanks very much for your review! It's wonderful to hear that your shift from manual testing to Provar automation has created time in your day - that's a big win! It also sounds like you've done a great job of adding testing throughout your software lifecycle, shortened your feedback loops to the development team and it's having a positive effect on product quality. Sounds like a perfect case study! :-)

If you're still having trouble testing some custom components, the first thing to do is engage with Provar Support. They are experts in all things Provar and help customers with issues like this every day. Depending on the specifics, there may be something in the Provar roadmap that will help. Your Customer Success Manager will be the best person for that conversation.

As we can create tests by simple drag and Drop action, and there are more types of locators we can use in Page objects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As there are multiple sections in Provar Desktop, shortcut keys should be available to minimize quickly, close, or open these sections, saving time and effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Provar?

Provar has helped us in creating test automation framework in short period of time. We initally started creating our own framework from scratch using selemiun. Looking at the challenges that we faced and time invested, onboarding Provar turned out to be good decision.

Whenever there is an issues or question, the turn around time is really quick from support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

CPQ automation was a bit challenging. Also, Sometimes we found help documentation not much helpful. So we ended up raising a case on Success portal or request a support from Customer Success Specialist. Help comes very quickly if you ask for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Hello Supriya and thanks for your review of Provar! So glad to hear that you found Provar to help with your Salesforce test automation and didn't have to go through building out a Selenium framework. Selenium is a terrific technology for general web application testing, but many come to the same conclusion that you did - an engineered for Salesforce approach leads to better results. CPQ is an exceptionally complex product, so it's not surprising that CPQ test automation was challenging. Your approach to reach out to Provar Support was exactly the right strategy. You might also consider posting CPQ questions in the Provar Community. There are more than a few members who are building tests for CPQ, and they may be able to help too.

I like the fact that the funtional regression tetsing can be taken care of very easy by Provar and how easy it is to use their Test Plans Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

The documentation is 'thin' in terms of DevOps support and some of their documents need to be updated with the help of screenshots. Also when you log a case and being helped you should get coherent and consistent information from the consultants and not differ depending who youre dealing with. Accurate capture/reading of problematic Salesforce aura components. Support of ANT tool instead of latest tech build tools like Maven and Gradle Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Hello Gaorutwe,

Thanks very much for your review! It's great to hear that you're saving costs doing functional test automation for Salesforce. We want to make sure all of our customers are seeing a strong positive ROI with Provar. If you still need help with devops (I'm guessing integrations?), a combination of Provar Support and the Customer Success team has access to some internal Provar devops experts. They should be able to sort out any issues you might be having. Thanks also for your feedback on Aura component and support for Maven and Gradle. We're always looking for the next set of Provar Automation features, and customers like you are our most important resource for ideas.

What do you like best about Provar?

Of course if application you are automating is Salesforce, then definitely, Provar is powerful. and I recommend Provar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

On Test Execution: Runtime metadata download is still inconsistent. This should be

better, as we experience inconsistency in results when running our scripts from Travis CI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Hetty Boardman-Weston of Provar

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are so pleased Provar has been helpful in making your testing faster and reducing your manual regression effort.

In terms of the test execution inconsistencies, we appreciate this is a pain point and we are taking steps to address this through our Dynamic Wait feature, so we hope you will see some improvements there soon. We appreciate your patience while we address this issue.

Thank you again for your review!

"I'm truly fortunate to get to know Provar tool and to connect to their outstanding support team."

What do you like best about Provar?

I enjoyed working with the IT support team and got resolved all my issues with setup and test cases. I like the Test Builder tool and the fact that I can automate things easily with this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Provar?

The downside of using a tool is that it does not have a smooth CICD process that I can navigate from the tool itself. If I want to have Test Schedules that run without my help then I need to troubleshoot the complex process to make that happen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Hi Nadya,

Thanks very much for your review! Great to hear that you're having success with Provar Automation and that the support team is making sure you continue to be successful. If you're still having trouble with CI/CD integration, definitely reach out to Provar Support for help. And, if you haven't yet seen Provar Manager (our newest product available on the Salesforce AppExchange), download a trial and check out the available plugins for CI/CD integration including Salesforce DevOps Center.

Quick support from Provar team

Excellent tool for regression testing

What do you dislike about Provar?

Metadata reload is inconsistent and it could be better.

It can include other objects like Approval Requests, Dashboards as well Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alexander Sherwood of Provar

Hi Leelalavanya,

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your feedback on Provar and the Provar team - and especially for updating your previous review. :-)

Glad to hear that you're still getting value from Provar for your Salesforce test automation. If you haven't already spoken to the support team about the inconsistent metadata reload times and test maintenance, they're a great place to start. Are you seeing the problem with a full refresh of the metadata or with just the changes? Thanks also for your feedback on additional objects to support - our product team loves to hear from customers. Regarding MFA, Provar is following Salesforce guidance around testing applications being excluded from MFA. For a more detailed discussion of Provar and MFA, please take a look at this blog - https://www.provartesting.com/blog/salesforce/getting-your-provar-test-automation-ready-for-mfa/
