There are some nuances from switching to Proton Mail from Google such as email sign ins and verifications to internet apps because Gmail is integrated in everything that having to input my Proton login manually can be a bit tedious. Honestly though it is the least of my worries because it's the privacy part that I value more than the "convenience". I also wish that Proton Mail dark version can render emails campaigns with logos and photos better. For example, when i do a test email from Brevo with my bright blue logo, it simply doesn't show up against the black background but in Gmail, they somehow account for that and add a white background. Again, not a deal breaker.

For me personally, safety and security is paramount. Like any other software product, I think there could be work with the UI and making things a little more streamlined, but overall, I think the experience has been excellent. As I mentioned, the user interface could be a bit more modern and effective. A feature that would allow dictation verbally within the e-mail would be helpful for those that aren't able to type or prefer not to. There aren't very many things that need to be done, it's a pretty good product. Having said this, it would be nice to have the email product and the calendar product and perhaps even the drive product integrated so you could easily access and see all three within one interface. As a managed services provider we are regularly working with sensitive information, whether it be PCI, HIPAA, contracts, or credentials. The main hurdle we face in our promotion of Proton Mail over other widely adopted, but insecure, services is the identity management (OAuth2/SSO) integrated in a large number of 3rd party applications. Clients will push back to keep insecure email systems (they don't always separate the service feature from the account) to maintain easy login features to otherwise unrelated applications. (e.g., Utilizing Google account identity for login to a medical EMR web application). While not a Proton Mail issue directly, I dislike the lack of integration. What I dislike the most is that I find the feature where you can constantly sync certain files on your PC for backup as a little difficult to use. This may be an issue with any syncing of files, but I almost completely deleted files I needed when attempting to back them up. They need additional safeguards to prevent this. Overall the privacy, SPAM targeting, and experience using the product are excellent. I feel confident using Proton Mail, especially with colleagues and other Proton Mail users due to encryption and privacy. Internal corporate emails are locked-down. There are several features of the actual mail program that could be improved: headers, better filtering, not having the "make proton mail your default email application" always nagging me (even when I've said "not right now 100x. Cannot use as reader for other (non-proton) email accounts -- so I can't make it my default b/c I still have other email accounts. I really like the piece of mind the encryption gives me. Since I deal with sensitive birth data and personal life details for my Vedic Astrology client consultations, knowing that the emails are actually private and secure are a huge plus for my business. It is super easy to manage my professional channel inquiries separately from my personal stuff since I have a YouTube channel with 100K+ Subscribers so I tend to get lots of emails. Sometimes the search feature in the inbox can be a little slow compared to Gmail especially when I am looking for older client threads. Also, it is a bit more expensive than other providers, but honest, the security-trade off and simplicity of the user interface makes it totally worth it for me. I've been a long time business user of Proton Mail and I find it to be superior in almost every way to other services out there. When it first launched has a business email product, the administrative controls and overall uptime of the service weren't great. Great. For the past 2 years at least, however, the uptime has been spectacular and the admin panel has been much improved. The biggest criticism I would have for proton mail for business is value for money. It's not cheap and there are competitor, equally as privacy focused alternatives which cost much less per user. It's still the market leader in my opinion for features, uptime and dedication to privacy, but it does feel like they could improve in terms of value and cost per account.
