You must assign designated value to represent blank, PROSNA for price records and ALL for lookup tables. Blank does not always mean ALL based on the context of the data. 1b) In the ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) process, PROS does not do any data transformation. The client system must assume this responsibility irrespective of the direction of data flow. 1c) Referential integrity cannot be selectively turned off. 2) The User Interface. 2a) There are too many clicks. You must re-select the same set of items to manage as you perform each function and as you go from screen to screen. 2b) The filter values are kept when you switch from one Master Price List to another. 2c) Tough to manage a lot of data because of Excel like interface. 2d) Performance. Restarting the application can cause users to lose certain preferences for how screens are laid out. The application requires a lot of memory (160+GB) per server, in a multi-server configuration. This is a big upgrade from how we used to make pricing adjustments. We can manage our pricing segments at multiple levels with pros. Having the ability to set different thresholds is a great feature that stops our pricing from getting too low. The system is easy to troubleshoot when something is not working. I like the ability to create your own custom price list. Not everyone likes to look at something the same way. This allows people to create unique views that works best for them. The user experience is for the most part pretty user friendly. It's not until you get to some of the more back end features that things can get confusing. It's not hard to train new users to work the system. I have recently started working with the team a Pros. They have been really easy to work with. They take the time to understand how we work with the system. They are trying to enhance our new experience that is coming by the end of of the year. There are many forecast tables that have names and we are not really sure what information is being displayed. I am apart of the Super user team for Avis Budget. We have been trying to build out new screens for out teams but have been running into issues because there are no definitions certain pages and screens. Some pages don't flow smoothly and will get locked up. Sometimes you have to re-fresh the page and you might lose what you were working on. I wish there was revert button or a "Ctrl-Z". It has happened where someone though they were filtered to one specific zone and deleted everything they had in place, but they were actually on a much larger scope and delete more than they wanted to. The biggest thing I would says is to have patience. It's possible for people to get frustrated in the early stages when things are not working the way you want it to. Before pros we would have to shop out or competitors rates at different locations and then submit new rate changes. We are able to feed in different competitive data and based on the rules/logic we have put in place, the system is able to generate a price to be submitted. This is done across hundreds of locations multiple times a day. This is something we were not able to do when we were pricing manually. Since using Pros we have been able stay competitive and optimize our strategies based on our fleet levels and different demand strategies. The system can move pricing up for us when is sees demand spikes or a decrease in fleet. This is something a person is not able to do.
