the improvement of the quality in all the data that we have to manage in the different areas

a very good lean solution in the process from the quotation to the order and the technical data generation

Pros CPQ is a global solution which covers the processes from the quotation to the order entry including the technical data generation (bill of materials and routings) and offering a simple and rapid solution to improve the communication between marketing, sales, engineering, produciton and service .

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

most of our production is made to order and the Cameleon/pros CPQ is a key advantage to manage configurations

"Great idea, evolving execution"

What do you like best?

When used correctly, PROS CPQ is an easy way for our sales teams to understand what separates a good deal from a bad deal. It's a force multiplier that allows us to set rules around quoting and execute to a plan while distilling it down to a grade score for the sales rep.

What do you dislike?

Configuration and customization of CPQ and the cart model is overly complex. It shouldn't require linking a mapping set if we already know which data point we are using, and macros and formulas can be combined into a single option. Training for the tool was great for the purpose of passing the test, not so great for addressing real world business problems in multi-product environments, like Smart CPQ and Guidance together. Support has been lackluster, but I think part of that is growing pains for the company and part of it is a need to open up education to the customer in a more structured format (like growing the Connect community) to let the customer better understand the journey that PROS is trying to take them on. In our implementation, we had good technical people but nobody really spent the time helping us understand the consequences of each decision we were asked to make or offer guidance on how we can explore our business before we answer.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our sales organization grew 300% in just one day (up to 180ish people), and is continuing to grow. PROS is the method we can use to better understand the decisions happening in the field and allow us to target business objectives from the back office.

"A tool with lot of features"

What do you like best?

Easy integration with CRM. Real time integration with PPSS to get pricing and guidance. The Business Rules and Constraint concept is very powerful.

What do you dislike?

UI/UX experience. could be more flexible and user friendly, The CPQ designer tool too has lot of features but it seems they are all over the place. It would be good if the are consolidated in a better way to help developers build stuff. The Cart designer is too tedious to work with

Error handling and Displaying Errors/Alerts etc to the user could be improved

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

some of the problems we are solving with PROS Smart CPQ are getting rid of tedious quoting process and improving the overall time to have the quote sent to customer.

Benefits are Faster quoting process, real time access to price guidance

What CPQ solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Pros review...."

What do you like best?

Very knowledgeable sales team, know their product, and can relate to the challenges we face. Good system, designed for transportation (Origin destination). Easy to implement, and create the value we needed, at a fair price. Got a great product, with good functionality, at a reasonable cost moving to subscription model, not having to pay for software up front, so costs could be spread out over time and allow ROI to catch up.

What do you dislike?

Customer service could be a bit better..... As we went through the process, the "functionality" we needed, was misinterpreted, and we got into disputes about what was in scope and what was not. Not unreasonable positions to take by them, but you have to be clear on what you need/want....to be sure no disputes. They resolved them reasonably, but we found we had to sacrifice scope to stay on budget/timelines.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Consistency of go to market approach. And documentation of what was quoted, and on what terms. Standardized terms, look and feel, and pricing that could be monitored, and build approval work flows.

"Keep Smart CPQ in your consideration set!"

What do you like best?

CPQ has done an excellent job in reducing administrative hours for our sales force, returning the equivalent of two sales calls per month to the typical account manager. It is also strategically important to have a CPQ that can integrate into an advanced pricing manager that can help determine the price envelop for ongoing customer negotiations and this CPQ can do just that. Be wary of specifying a CPQ solution that comes alone. Smart CPQ helps make you future proof as pricing initiatives and needs grow.

What do you dislike?

The product is very customize-able, but I would caution against that - out of the box is likely a better solution than appears at first glance. Know your desired process and find the CPQ that matches best without a lot of customer mod's being made. We made the mistake of a little too much tailoring to what we thought we might need. The software in its original state is better than you think!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In our early efforts we reduced the administrative burden on our sales force by eight hours a month. We are just getting started with this tool.

"Cadillac solution backed by top tier customer service"

What do you like best?

Ultimate flexibility. This tool can be configured to accommodate basically any product catalogue configuration one can imagine. Also offers nearly endless control over the user experience associated building a quote (input validation, approvals, bundling, background automation, user permissions, and the list goes on..)

What do you dislike?

Complexity is inherent to a tool with almost no limitations in configurability. I'm sure that complexity varies widely across use cases but we found there to be a pretty steep learning curve for administrators. That said, the folks at PROS incredibly patient and helpful in the effort to get our team up to speed.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You get your money's worth. The implementation process was very thorough, and the handoff from thier team to ours was handled gracefully. If you're lucky enough to draw Charles Campbell as your implementation lead you will not be disappointed - the guy is a living legend.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have a complicated product offering, a complicated set of business rules to honor, and our product catalogue data is tied together with a string of band-aids applied by the warriors of yesteryear. It is almost certain that the owners of this dataset over time had no communication with each other, and I believe they did most of their work blindfolded.

The efficiency gains we're seeing in our reps ability to effectively navigate our product catalogue are nothing short of remarkable. Beyond that, the constraints engine has allowed us to enforce the user input in ways we could never even imagine. This has resulted in significant improvements of data accuracy flowing to downstream systems which opens up an array of obvious benefits. It

"Cameleon / PROS CPQ"

What do you like best?

It is incredible flexible. Until now there wasn't a product configuration constraint or specificity that couldn't be handled by PROS CPQ / Cameleon. There is also an API to further enhance the possibilities. The user interface is simple and easy to understand and the main user environment is a web page.

What do you dislike?

The main output for the product configuration is an XML file. This can be a good thing in some cases but we think that would be better to save the output data in database tables by default. The tool allow to use custom tables to save the data you need to do interfaces, connecting BIs, reports and so on, but it would be better to have this feature as default.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Quotations for complex products with non standard bill of materials and manufacturing routing. Our product doesn't have an easy to compute bill of materials, so it is hard to compute raw material planned quantities, manufacturing routing and planned times (setup and process) in order to return a 100% accuracy quotation price. Also there is also a strong interface with and APS / scheduling tool to sequence the work orders generated by Cameleon.

"Cool Features - Difficult Deployment"

What do you like best?

Pricing guidance is great, and our sales team is able to get through CPQ with proper training without a lot of additional support.

What do you dislike?

Modification, customization, and implementation of CPQ requires a lot more development resources from the customer than I would have thought. It is not by any means a simple plug in for Salesforce. The process also seems to have a lot of unnecessary clicks and entries, which are fine once you are aware of them, but they do slow the process down. There is also no good way to push products from an Opportunity in Salesforce to CPQ, so if you run opportunity renewals or clones, it is the same as creating a new PROS quote each time. Also, administration of CPQ is not very straightforward, and they will require additional paid trainings for your teams that is not included in the initial SOW.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It won't be an easy transition, no matter what you are using. Ask a lot of questions during the discovery phase, and see how the information they ask for will impact the end product as early as you can. We ran through several iterations of the "final" product before launch because we didn't know what the decisions being made during the early phase were doing to the finished product.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed pricing guidance to understand willingness to pay, PROS helps address that issue. It has been very useful in that regards.

"Salesforce Integrated Pricing Tool"

What do you like best?

We have implemented salesforce software for our sales team. The integration of PROS into salesforce allows our sales team to go to one place to view all of their customer information including the pricing. The tool allows them too create specific price catalogs for their customers from a type of product to an individual product. The software also includes workflows if approval is required.

What do you dislike?

The tool required a process change in the way we handled pricing. We have not been able to successfully implement the tool for those teams that create frequent bids.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you use salesforce, this is a great pricing tool that will allow your salesforce to stay on the same platform and have all of their customer information in one location.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Prior to PROS, we submitted customer pricing via forms/spreadsheets. With PROS we are able to automate this with workflows for approvals if needed.

"A robust quoting tool with fantastic professional services and support"

What do you like best?

The PROS CPQ tool is incredibly powerful. It enables the most complex product and service catalogues to be simplified for end users. The web interface is fairly intuitive given the wide range of functionality and adaptability.

What do you dislike?

It is not a simple system to administer. It requires a very strong understanding of data and system architecture. Perhaps that is the inherent nature of a tool that is like a Chameleon.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have achieved a significant reduction in time of quoting with fewer errors.

"PROS CPQ"

What do you like best?

We have enhanced the tool with quite some good functionality. Good connectivity to sales force. Web-based solution is supporting future mobile usage.

What do you dislike?

The performance of the tool is not at the level needed for offers with higher numbers of item lines. Missing integrated document generation in the core functionality.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We have enhanced quite some additional functionality to improve the usability of the tool. This is very helpful, on the other hand, the way to get there was very cumbersome. Try to stay as much as you can within the standard functionality or include your enhancements to become part of standard.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our offering is quite complex and needs to be adapted in the majority of the cases to the customer needs. The options given in the tool are supporting this demand in order to allow the sales engineer to generate in a flexible way the structure needed (f.e. buildings, floors, show or hide values etc..).

"PROS CPQ Administrator Review"

What do you like best?

I like the flexibility best. It provides the user the ability to modify the application to meet individual business needs.

What do you dislike?

Some of the flexibility built into the system requires PROS personnel to manage the modifications removing control from the local administrator.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you want a highly flexible tool then PROS CPQ will meet your needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Primary business problems include flexible pricing scenarios, guided selling processes, mandatory product lists, and organization of a large list of products into useable collections. Benefits include easy to use product for the sales reps to provide quotes to their customers.

What do you like best?

My experience with PROS CPQ is bit limited and we are getting to know the the product. I really like the better front end design and the speed of the search.

What do you dislike?

"CPQ Concept is really appealling, but experience with PROS CPQ shows that it is quite complicated"

What do you like best?

Flexibility for the Sales Manger to configure the offering in a central access point.

What do you dislike?

PROS CPQ seems to be quite complicated to configure and we have now and then bugs in the implmentation that are caused by product defects.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The concept of PROS CPQ to integrate the preparation of Quotes with Pricing is great. The only downside I see is that the configuration effort is quite high and quite time consuming.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1. Standardized quotation process / 2. Giving sales a pricing authority.

"Cameleon / CPQ"

What do you like best?

Flexibility of the configurators in terms of the hierarchical design of products and the provision of interdependencies for maintaining consistency. From a user perspective it is very user friendly and couldn't be simpler to use

What do you dislike?

Rigidity of XML output. Would prefer to see a solution where the XML can be more customised. Also isolation of quotation data, would be beneficial to be able to report on a group of quotes including the detail within each of them

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Automatically feeding data into other business systems, removes manual input errors. Speed of obtaining estimation output and consistency of results.

What do you like best?

The CPQ tool is appropriate for configurable products. Unfortunately our company bought it to use to configure a deal. Transition has been rough
