## About PromptSafe Legal
PromptSafe Legal is a PDF redaction and document preparation tool designed for paralegals and litigation teams preparing filings for federal court. It automatically detects sensitive information in legal documents — including Social Security numbers, tax IDs, dates of birth, financial account numbers, names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses — and allows reviewers to permanently remove them before filing. Unlike traditional redaction tools that simply place black boxes over text, PromptSafe performs true irreversible redaction, permanently removing the underlying content from the PDF. Once applied, the information cannot be copied, recovered, or extracted from the document. This helps prevent accidental disclosure of protected information when documents are filed through CM/ECF and become part of the public PACER record. PromptSafe Legal assists with FRCP 5.2 privacy compliance by automatically flagging sensitive information for review. Users can accept suggested redactions, reject them, or manually highlight additional content that should be removed. The detection engine acts as a starting point — final review and control always remain with the user. All processing runs locally on your device. Files are never uploaded to any server, helping preserve confidentiality and attorney-client privilege. For audit and verification purposes, PromptSafe Legal generates a redaction certificate for each processed document. The certificate records the redaction actions performed and includes a SHA-256 integrity hash of the final PDF, allowing teams to verify that the document has not been altered after redaction. PromptSafe Legal is part of a small set of legal document utilities designed for federal court workflows. Additional tools include FRCP Checker, which scans PDFs for FRCP 5.2 compliance issues before filing, and Exhibits Builder, which generates exhibit separator pages and applies Bates numbering to document bundles.
