"Good Product"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

its intuitive interface and real-time visibility across our entire network infrastructure. The customizable dashboards, interactive network maps, and robust alerting capabilities make it easy to proactively identify and troubleshoot issues before they impact users. I also appreciate the flexibility to monitor not just devices, but also bandwidth usage, application performance, and cloud services — all in one unified platform. It’s lightweight compared to other NMS tools, but still powerful enough to handle enterprise-level monitoring. The built-in reports and scheduled alerts help streamline operations and support compliance documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

while it's strong in core monitoring, some advanced configuration options — especially around custom scripting, SNMP trap handling, and cloud integration — can feel limited or unintuitive. The reporting engine, though functional, could benefit from more modern visuals and easier customization. Additionally, the initial setup and licensing model can be a bit complex, especially for larger environments with dynamic assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Progress WhatsUp Gold solving and how is that benefiting you?

Progress WhatsUp Gold helps us solve the challenge of gaining centralized, real-time visibility into our network, servers, and critical infrastructure — both on-premises and in the cloud. It proactively alerts us to issues like device downtime, bandwidth spikes, service failures, and application latency before they affect end users. By consolidating monitoring and alerting into one platform, it significantly reduces our troubleshooting time, helps meet SLAs, and improves overall IT efficiency. The historical data and reporting features also support capacity planning and help demonstrate uptime for audits and executive reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WUG is an invaluable tool for our organization."

3.5/5

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Pretty easy to use. Able to copy and edit devices. Sleep certain alerts when you expect things to be down. Flexible settings also. We need to know the instant resources are unavailable to our customers so we can restore functionality as soon as possible. We use it everyday and can't go an hour without checking it. We also get alerts from issues in the field. We have the dashboard up on a giant screen in our department for all our engineers to see. We also use it to co-monitor devices for another department and often times we alert them to outages on the equipment before they even are aware there are any issues. "Best in the market"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold is how easy it makes network monitoring feel. The interactive maps give a clear view of all devices and connections, and the single dashboard brings everything performance, logs, alerts into one place. It saves a lot of time when troubleshooting and makes spotting issues much simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold is that the interface can feel slow and clunky at times, especially when dealing with larger networks. The setup and learning curve can be a bit steep, and features like device discovery or API integrations aren’t always as smooth as they should be. It can also get pricey, which makes it harder to justify for smaller teams. Overall, it’s powerful but could be more user-friendly and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Monitoring with Unified Visibility—Works Flawlessly"

5/5

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Unified visibility: devices, applications, cloud, traffic

It covers monitoring of servers/devices, applications, cloud resources, and even network traffic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Nothing to say honestly. Everything works great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Progress WhatsUp Gold solving and how is that benefiting you?

WhatsUp Gold solves the major problem of lack of visibility and control across a hybrid, distributed infrastructure.

In my environment I had multiple devices, cloud resources, virtual machines, wireless networks and legacy systems — all generating data, alerts and logs in different places. This made it hard to:

• discover everything that’s on the network (many things were un-monitored),

• understand how devices, VMs, cloud and wireless relate and depend on each other,

• properly track performance, bandwidth consumption and application impact before users are affected,

• and tie logs/config changes/config drift into the monitoring picture.

WhatsUp Gold addresses these by providing automatic discovery & mapping of the network (on-premises and cloud) so I can see what’s connected and how.

It gives real-time alerts and dashboards for devices, traffic, performance, wireless, etc., so issues are caught before users notice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Beyond Monitoring: My Hands-On Experience with Progress WhatsUp Gold."

4.5/5

What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Progress WhatsUp Gold makes network monitoring feel effortless by turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. The live network map provides an instant snapshot of device health and connectivity, so issues are spotted before they become problems. Customizable alerts ensure you only get notified about what truly matters, helping you maintain focus without unnecessary interruptions. It’s a tool designed to give both visibility and control, making it easier to keep your network running at its best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

While Progress WhatsUp Gold offers impressive clarity and control, I’ve found that some of its advanced configuration options have a surprisingly steep learning curve. Diving into custom alert logic or deeper network mapping can be tricky without spending extra time on documentation. Occasionally, the interface feels a bit dated, and new users might find initial setup takes longer than expected. I also wish the integration with some third-party platforms was smoother, as connecting with cloud services or security tools sometimes requires more manual adjustment than I’d like. Overall, these small hurdles can slow down getting the most out of WhatsUp Gold for those not already familiar with network monitoring tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Progress WhatsUp Gold solving and how is that benefiting you?

Progress WhatsUp Gold tackles a few persistent problems that network administrators face daily. It solves the challenge of lacking visibility into network performance and device status by providing a live, interactive map that lets me identify issues quickly, sometimes even before they impact users. The tool streamlines monitoring by consolidating alerts, diagnostics, and reporting in one place, sparing me the hassle of toggling between multiple systems. This has directly benefited me by reducing downtime and making troubleshooting less stressful. With its customizable alerts and clear reporting, I can pinpoint what needs attention most urgently, helping me maintain network reliability and simplify compliance workflows. Ultimately, WhatsUp Gold’s practical approach to monitoring gives me more confidence and control over my network, freeing up time to focus on improvements rather than constant firefighting.
