## About Progress Sitefinity
Progress Sitefinity is a cloud-first content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) used to build, manage and personalize websites, portals and other digital properties. It is adopted by mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate multi-site, multilingual or regulated digital estates and need to balance marketing autonomy with IT governance and developer flexibility. Primary use cases include corporate websites, member and customer portals, authenticated experiences, integration-heavy workflows and consolidation of fragmented CMS deployments. Sitefinity supports marketing, development and IT teams through a shared platform model with role-appropriate tools and permissions. Key capabilities include: - Multisite, multilingual and multi-brand management with governance controls and workflows - Native customer data platform (Sitefinity Insight) for segmentation, analytics and personalization - 1,000+ prebuilt connectors and open APIs, Sitefinity Cloud platform integrates with your MarTech stack, CRM and enterprise systems in hours—not weeks - Extensibility using .NET and ASP.NET Core for custom development and composable architectures Sitefinity also incorporates generative and retrieval-augmented capabilities through Progress® Agentic RAG, enabling dynamic assembly of experiences from approved content to reduce manual production work while maintaining accuracy, compliance and brand standards. Additional operational benefits and deployment considerations: - Standardization and consolidation of CMS estates across business units or regions - Support for marketing, development and IT workflows without requiring a headless-only approach - Structured content for regulated or high-volume publishing environments - Deployment on-premises or as a managed cloud service on Microsoft Azure, reducing maintenance and providing security, scaling and compliance

there is a bit of a learning curve to the technology and we occasionally run into issues where SF modules strip away certain code.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan Joseph S. | IT Manager, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I love the opportunity to be able to make edits to the web pages directly on the web and being attentive to detail of how to positions on the site. Also, the tech support team at Progress is very responsible and active to helping out with issues.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The HTML Editor needs some updating on the features for coding as some of the functions are not compatible.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing alternatives on HTML coding for certain functions.

  ### 7. Once you learn, easy to use

After the learning curve has been completed, it's quite straightforward on how to continue making edits.

There isn't anything I can currently think of at this time.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you're considering this platform, give it a trial run and see if it is right for you.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly integrating features vs. having to fully customize when starting a development project. Provides a good jumping off point.

  ### 8. Pretty great product, has much of the infrastructure built in.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Environmental Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The renewal guy was great, worked with me to get things required done.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The technical support is a bit delayed for me, granted they weren't urgent, but ticket assigning takes too long for me.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Good .NET CMS product, they're fully featured and are continuously working for modernization. Quality of support is great, but they're not the fastest. The renewal/sales rep is great and will work with you, but wish there were more options for non-profit/government.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

content management

  ### 9. Sitefinity is a Fantastic CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

Sitefinity is easy to use and customize. We use it daily to manage our 1,000+ page website.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity can be a little clunky at times. They are making significant improvements to improve the experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

This is a great product that is customizable and easy to use.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's our organizations primary website.

  ### 10. Overall really great product but needs someone with a strong technical background to implement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Drag/drop interface for end users to build page layouts, boostrap integration, and the product is constantly being updated with new features and improvements.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The built in forms are extremely lacking. If you need the ability to create dynamic forms, you are out of luck. Simple forms like name, phone, email work just fine but is you need anything beyond that then this is not the product for you.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Keep your source code updated. The development team at Progress is constantly pushing updates and if your project gets too far behind it can be problematic to update. I'd recommend update at the very least monthly.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity allows our communication department to update the sites themselves without IT intervention and it also provides our customers with a mobile friendly website.

  ### 11. Modern Platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Great UI, modern functionality, lots of features.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrading process could be less bumpy. Seems to have difficulty upgrading on different releases.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Has saved time on the I.T. side as far as allowing editors to be able to submit their own content and design their own forms.

  ### 12. Great for Financial Institutions!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity provides our financial institution customers with an easy-to-use content management platform. Our customers can make all of their day-to-day website edits, and Sitefinity's built in "revision history" feature helps them to meet their unique financial compliance and regulatory needs. In addition, Sitefinity integrates well with online banking and application vendors, which is a must for financial institutions.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

One concern that we do have as an agency is the cost of Sitefinity CMS. Sitefinity is a powerful and robust platform with many of the bells and whistles that our customers need and benefit from. However, for some of our smaller customers, Sitefinity can quickly become expensive. Depending on the specific needs of a customer and their budget, we may opt to purchase a lower tier licenses, or have to recommend a different solution.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of our customers do not have web designers or developers on staff, and relay heavily on third party relationships which can be costly. Sitefinity CMS makes the website management process easy, and to the point where they can manage their website independently of third-party relationships.

  ### 13. Great Product, Happy Customer

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ease in navigation, content organization, and great customer support.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Wish there was a bit more flexibility with the forms and social media options. More standardized templates we can follow.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content management being administered by many different users. This product is very user friendly.

  ### 14. Great Team

**Reviewed by:** Marcie M. | Technology Project Manager and Trainer , Legal Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

That we are able to control the website internally and can make updates as needed.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I have not found anything that I dislike.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website for our members

  ### 15. Good CMS, lots of features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff V. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

SiteFinity has a good toolset and works well for managing the content on our corporate website. It also supports the ability to fully extend the platform using APIs and development extensions.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have found that SiteFinity has a challenging upgrade process.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use SiteFinity to host our corporate website.

  ### 16. Sitefinity fits the needs of our organization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy page taxonomy. Easy use of template

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Needs too much customization of widgets. Would like more online support/user community

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating websites and portal that rely more heavily on front-end developers than back-end.

  ### 17. Easy to use and learn

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared S. | Sr Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is easy to use and learn. It is very expanadable and customizable. The ease of creating translations for multiple languages very quickly is very nice

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I started on version 5.4 and just recently upgraded to 11.2. Over the last 5-6 years I have had 4 upgrades and outside of 1 of them, they all have been quite painful. They have not been as seamless as I thought Somme of them would be.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Use MVC and stay away from Web Forms or Hybrid mode. I believe Web Forms and Hybrid modes makes things more confusing.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity has helped deliver content to the public users in an efficient way across the 12 languages we have for our multi-lingual.

  ### 18. Great Product and Great Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy to use, but still a robust product. Strong platform for pages and eCommerce.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I suppose it is good that they update often, but the software update process could be easier.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you're looking for a .NET with full customization capabilities, this is the pick for you.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a robust software package that is simple to design and operate. Sitefinity fit our requirements.

  ### 19. Improving user experiences and customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity allows myself as a developer to take the requirements the business gives me and translate them into what the end user expects, without much customization from myself. Sitefinity comes with a ton of out of the box features, but it also allows you to customize and extend widgets to meet your needs.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

There are not really any downsides of Sitefinity. The only challenge we have faced is keeping up with the continous release of upgrades.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It’s very easy to use and if you have any difficulties the support is great.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We migrated from SharePoint to Sitefinity and solved a lot of the issues the business presented us when searching for a new platform. This includes a more intuitive WYSIWYG, more robust customization, and ease of use.

Throughout the upgrades, we have seen the benefits with easy integration with our custom authentication solution.

  ### 20. Outstanding experience and relationship with Progress Sitefinity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Relations | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the flexibility in the entire CMS with respect to customization or modules, layouts and styles right within the CMS software.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It's hard to find a downside, might be the update process to newer versions. I find that the documentation is a bit lacking in details.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Consider using this product.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us it was the ease of deploying a website with many different audiences and being able to easily create custom layouts and customization to the built in modules to add more functionality.

  ### 21. Sitefinty for large team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of updating content and integration with other apis

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

updating content across translations can get complicated

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Great for multiple Translations

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

intergarting with Salesforce and keeping users cookied

  ### 22. Sitefinity: Loved by Marketing and IT

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ease of use of SItefinity is compelling, and the ability to quickly train content contributors made this a win for my company.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

We bought the enterprise license to get SiteSync. I am a little disappointed in it. It is very buggy and flakes out often. The interface in v11.2 bombs out a lot, even though the tasks actually complete.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We moved from a static website to more of a transactional, marketing focused site with SItefinity. Our focus was on locations - the primary reason people visit our site. We tied a request for quote form to each location. We now average $7M a month in sales leads from the website, creating an easy and obvious ROI.

  ### 23. Love the widgets and module builder tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard P. | Global Webmaster, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I love the widgets and module builder tools as it allows me to quickly and easily build new pages without having to pay our digital agency to do so. And withe the handy widgets I can use infinite versions of similar templates to make as many different pages as I need.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It took longer that I thought it would to master the module builder tool, but when I did it was great. I like the ability to develop my own widgets without having to pay my digital agench to do that.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Get actively involved in a Users Group as you will so much from your peers

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our business has reduced its out of pocket costs to our digital agency to develop pages. We can do internally what we were paying our digital agency too much money to do. We now have more people trained to use the systems, expanding the flexibility to update our website faster.

  ### 24. SiteFinity CMS review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John K. | Web Designer / Developer, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

For our company, the ease to upload and update documents linked on our site is fantastic. Our documents change a lot, and this makes managing them very simple.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I am not a fan of the inability to easily find and replace site content. The CMS stores all of the data in a database, so replacing specific lines of text is a chore to say the least. We also have multiple environments, and our content links are specific to each environment (such as QA to QA, and Production to Production). We had to get a custom URL rewriting widget created just to have variable links on each environment. It was a costly chore and something they should have thought of out of the box without needing costly customization. Upgrading from one version to the next is also painful. It is worse then a new install. The databases need to be rebuilt and a ton of new files need to be installed. It was a difficult upgrade process and we are now worried about doing it again as the versions change constantly.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Give it a test run and see if you like it. It is very difficult to customize and upgrading to the latest version is a major project. We would probably not use this if we had to start over from scratch. The difficulty of keeping it up to date and not having a C# developer in our group makes using this CMS a chore. We have specific problems and issues more than other companies, so it may work better for others then it does for us.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not as many as we had hoped. The WYSIWYG doesn't make it so that non-coders can update content. We still need to have HTML knowledgeable people making the updates.

  ### 25. Sitefinity, your great salvation!!!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Xavier B. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

One of the great advantages is that it is perfectly integrated with the Windows Server environment. Another advantage is that Sitefinity is very professional in all areas, and all the options and tools it provides are well-developed and refined. It also highlights the great ability to easily import data from other content management systems and data sources. Additionally, it has great extensibility regardless of how business requirements change; you can expand, create, and integrate the use of a flexible API. Finally, it should be noted that Sitefinity is capable of meeting even the most rigorous custom development requirements.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

One of the things I don't like is that there is nothing new in Sitefinity that gives it an advantage over its competitors like the Joomla CMS. I also don't like that Sitefinity has very few extensions, with about 78 modules and controls in its marketplace, while Joomla CMS has more than 6,000 extensions at the moment. I also don't like the small number of templates that Sitefinity has. It is also worth noting the small number of developers and users that this platform has. Another thing I don't like is that you have to constantly renew the licenses and that there is no lifetime license. The technical support also stands out for not supporting Spanish, so you always have to communicate in English.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Use it!!! Sitefinity has a free version so you can see if you like it or if you don't find it valuable enough. Remember that to be able to use it, you must have a constant internet connection. I also have to recommend that you should use a computer with high speed so that it works quickly and without errors.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity is supplied with a series of services that make it easier for me to build and use my website. Additionally, these services include the internal search function, feed module, recycle bin, site map, etc. All these features enhance performance and help me manage my website's infrastructure.

  ### 26. Sitefinity is the best CMS I've used, but for certain types of projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pavel D. | Founder, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ease of use for business users if the project is done properly by the integration partner. The ease of use for developers if the project is done properly.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Most of the shortcommings of Sitefinity seem to come from bad planning, however there are a few places where we may see a bit of improvements. One is to expand the Export for deployment feature a bit so we can select certain items (more or less like the Site Sync). If we have this - we can get rid of doing manual changes for clients with complex infrastructure. Banks for example do not have connection to the live website, so we cannot use site sync. It's very difficult to deploy manual changes on such clients.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Be sure you have the problems that Sitefinity solves. Ensure you have the right expectations, ensure that you can meet the Sitefinity requirements.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our view Sitefinity is best if you have a relatively big project with a lot of content editors and a few websites. It is easy to create the first website, duplicate it and then leave the other countries team translate (or maybe use the translation services to have it translated).

  ### 27. One of the most 'User Friendly' Content Management System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nabeel Q. | Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have been using Sitefinity for more than 8 years now and find it one of the most user friend CMS to manage the website, if implemented correctly. It provides many out of the box widget like News, Events, Cards, Rich text editor, Image Gallery which can be easily drag drop on the page and within minute you can create a new page using any existing template. Also, for developer, it provides the flexibility to build custom modules and utilities API which can be consume by any frontend medium (mobile app, website).

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Not easy to upgrade to latest version, if by mistake one deploy the latest version DLL, it change the database and you cannot rollback to old version. The Export/Import feature is not advance enough and randomly breaks. By default Sitefinity store some of the changes like labels & Message, Search Index on ‘File System’ which cause issue when you have a Load Balance environment, there you have to manually sync the file on all environment which is not ideal. Also, there is lack of native Analytics support, it integrate with Google Analytics which means dependency on 3rd party system when creating reports.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

The way implementation is done is the key when using any CMS, same goes with Sitefinity CMS, if the content is properly structure in backend, then it would be very easy to manage the website, else, if there are a lot of rich feature, it would require complex content architecture, thus require more time to manage content. Also, try to use the default widget provided by Sitefinity wherever possible, which would allow you to take full advantage of Sitefinity DataAccess, Advance Cache, thus improving the overall website performance. Also, when using Sitefinity personalization, make sure you first have the content strategy.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personalization, one of the key feature for any new website. Sitefinity allow simple but effective mechanism to make any page or content within the page personalized. We are using this feature for some of our Banking websites which have a lot of content and pages. There we need to target user based on their behavior, location, time etc. Here Sitefinity plays an important role to achieve our target audience.

  ### 28. Good CMS for customers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yogesh G. | Yogesh Goyal, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

  ### 30. One of the best CMS available for the .NET platform.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I have been very happy with Sitefinity its one of the best content management systems I have used. Easy to use and very customizable, It does take some development to get page templates setup and custom modules built but once its running almost anyone can create and modify web pages quickly

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I really like the customization of the site, ease of use for non technical staff and the tools available for Visual Studio.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filling the need for a database driven website to keep content up to date with minimal developer involvement.

  ### 31. Great content management tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kierstin K. | Web & Digital Communications Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of use, basic content management system for beginners, room for expansion for developers.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Only looks/works best in Chrome browsers. Will glitch or not save updates in other browsers.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Great content management product. Good for beginners, but can be used more in-depth by developers. This is a good product for having all of your important content automated in one place. This is key for ensuring quick and easy updates. The product is a huge time saver when copying/uploading content into pages. It keeps almost of the formatting. I will say that if you use and type of tables, you cannot copy and paste them directly. They require some coding experience, as well as editing in specific platforms (excel). If you have forms, you will have to throw in page code, or recode them to have a better look. The templates are basic. Many features like MVC, templates, multilingual, etc. range from basic to high-user levels. Overall, if you have a lot of content that needs managed more efficiently, this is a great tool.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have better ensured our content is the most up-to-date or valid. We've realized this opens opportunities for automating several documents and company information in one place.

  ### 32. Great Platform

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is very easy to work with and a stable platform. I love the personalization features, and it's been easy to get internal staff to make edits to their pages.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Can be hard to implement third-party customizations.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure that you choose a good vendor that can help with your day-to-day support should you need it.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us immensely with crafting personas and delivering a customized user experience. It is also giving us the opportunity to provide a more dynamic web presence.

  ### 33. Drag and drop widgets easy to use

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is easy to use to build sophisticated pages even with just the out of box widgets.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Customizing and connecting related widgets is a little more complex than expected.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Interview current users to get a feel for any tips, tricks or traps they have run into. The more you know the better your implementation will be.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a higher education institution trying to drive students leads to matriculated students. We have reduced our bounce rate more than anticipated.

it is our main cms

  ### 35. Sitefinity Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

Custom customer dashboards, insurance claims, and more

  ### 36. Fantastic experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The possibility to manage different languages and multisites

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

  ### 37. Flexibilty to suit any need. Also re-usability if you program your custom items correctly.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The part I like the most about Sitefinity is the ability to make it my own. Almost everything can be customized to meet business requirements. From graphics and templates to widgets and form submissions. There is a consistent look and feel that is unique to us while correct information appears only where it is expected.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The part I found challenging was trying to setup a new app and the online documentation hadn't been updated.
However, I contacted support and they got back to me quickly with the correct instructions.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Know what you want before you get started. Sitefinity can do it, but you need to have a clear direction and stick with a single unified plan otherwise it could take years to implement.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problems revolve around reaching prospective students and getting them to engage in the community we have built. Sitefinity has given us a platform to announce the new exciting things that make our school so great.

  ### 38. Straightforward

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad K. | Associate Attorney, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Generally an easy to use product. Straightforward, especially for adding or deleting content.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Occasionally lags and does not recognize actions taken.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Compare with other products to make sure this meets your needs.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website content generation. Easy for multiple users without much experience to interact with company website.

  ### 39. Solid system for content management

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Content management and built-in tools for blogs and events are easy to use for all levels of users.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

There isn't a strong user community or add-ons to extend the system.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've opened up our website to content managers across our community with approval workflows that has greatly reduced the amount of content one small team has to handle.

  ### 40. Sitefinity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ami F. | Senior Programmer/Analyst/Web Developer, Retail, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Making quick updates by marketing easier

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Bugs with the product. Fortunately, Progress listens to our needs and fixes asap

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Keep version up-to-date.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some smaller updates can be one faster

  ### 41. A small cms that leaves a lot of room for improvement

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathanael M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a developer / devops engineer, I can't think of anything I found good or outstanding in the Sitefinity product, I feel it falls behind its competitors in the majority of areas. If I had to pick an area I think that was the best part of the product, it would probably be feather (but even this lacks in many areas).

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The page based architecture (unlike umbraco / sitecore being more of am item based architecture).
The need for a lot of magic strings to make it work and gave poor error guidance when it didn't.
Building an atomic design was near impossible
Content being (generally) limited to a single widget (whilst reusability is possible, it is annoyingly complex to achieve)
The price tag (considering there are better cms' for less money imho)
The promotion pipeline
The lack of community add ons / support

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Look at Umbraco, Episerver or Sitecore. I think they are far in advance of Sitefinity

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I built a website for a large American education establishment.

  ### 42. Great CMS with kendo built in

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We like the ability to integrate and share MVC views, and build re-usable widgets which can be manipulated by the end-user. Having an underlying familiar framework in Kendo UI also helps ease the learning curve for any developers with previous experience with Progress products. Many of the functions of a typical ecommerce site are available out of the box and immediately available for customization.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

MVC (feather) integration in version 10 did not feel very mature in comparison with the webforms templates. In addition documentation for MVC was not as extensive. This may have moved on with the current version, but we have yet to upgrade.
Some templates can only be saved within the application, ideally there would be better integration with Visual Studio and GIT especially for deployment of MVC Partials

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Great CMS with integrated Ecommerce functions. Going forward stronger MVC support will make this an awesome product.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business required a flexible public facing website, with out-of-the box ecommerce solution. Sitefinity significantly reduces development time and allows the business to remain flexible in it's presentation to customers.

  ### 43. Sitefinity CMS review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

.NET base CMS with many features out of the box. Intuitive interface and expandable with a developer team.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Pricing is going up since progress did the acquisition. On the plus side the support team us much more responsive and features are getting added and fixed.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Good product but you need a team of developers to customize it to your needs. Out of the box there are multiple features available and very useful. You definitely need a UI developer to design your template. Unfortunately, we didn't find any useful template on the sitefinity marketplace. Our developers find their documentation informative but not always up to date to the latest version and their support are very responsive. The type of SLA for the support response, depends on the support package/license you have.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for our intranet to manage and host our internal operations and documentation.

  ### 44. Sitefinity continues to be the right tool for us and our clients

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We are a solutions provider, so we are typically creating a turnkey solution which includes Sitefinity websites for clients. We have been using Sitefinity since version 3 and have always found it to be the best solution for clients looking for a CMS that is powerful and robust, yet easy to understand and easy for us to teach.

Sitefinity is extremely easy for our business customers to understand and use. The interface allows users to drag and drop widgets into their pages and the familiar text editor removes any learning curve.

The UI is clean and user friendly. From experience, the granular permissions make it easy to customize the security to fit the client's needs.

The built in widgets provide the majority of the functionality we need, but the extensibility also allows us to create our own widgets to fill in the gaps where needed!

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Support has been difficult to get at times, with us having to rely on year old forum posts. Or email support, which takes some time.

While not directly involved with the process, I know that upgrades frequently break things, especially if you have customized Sitefinity in any fashion.

Only real complaint is the business approach Telerik took several years back regarding their price points and licensing. It seems obvious that they are focusing more on larger enterprise customers and phasing out all of the lower priced licenses. Small Business, etc.. Many of our clients are no longer able to afford the investment. Its much harder to sell than it used to be.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to address challenges in editing websites by multiple contributors/authors. Content sharing and easy content organizing are huge benefits. We also see the same benefits to our clients using Sitefinty. They greatly appreciate the ease of use.

  ### 45. Oversight user

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The best part of Sitefinity is the web accessibility. Allowing users to create and edit pages from any location.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Less customizable then other on premise platforms but still has a robust feature set

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Great system to work with

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major benefit of sitefinity is the ability to create pages with little development expertise.

  ### 46. Open Platform That Allows for a Lot of Customization

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian A. | Digital Marketing Assistant, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity makes it easy to navigate across large websites and implement changes. It is easy to upload pictures, manage documents and quickly create landing pages.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

If you are not a developer, there is not a lot of support or discussions online as there are for WordPress. The out of the box modules are very basic and plain. It is hard to implement custom widgets or modules without getting a developer to build them from the ground up.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits of Sitefinity is that it can be completely customized and changed as different UI trends and behaviors emerge.

  ### 47. Like building in the CMS but many quirks and Developers hate it

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Building pages with drag and drop functionality

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ability to extend out-of-the-box widgets isn't possible. Developers have to do everything custom because out-of-the-box widgets are very limited. Example you can't add multiple buttons to the Card widget so we had to build a custom widget for that. The problem with customer widgets is that they are built in AngularJS with is an outdated technology so these custom widgets will have to be rebuilt in the near future. Sitefinity NEEDS to keep up with current technology.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Do you research. Don't like that customer widgets use AngularJS so would only recommend for basic sites that don't need much customization.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making sites easier to build for our marketing teams and add personalized customer experiences on our sites.

  ### 48. The best Windows CMS on the market. Period.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick K. | Founder + CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It's secure, and easy to train clients on.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The community of extension developers is a bit light.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you're considering a CMS for use in a Windows environment, this is the platform to choose. It's sleek, secure and easy to customize.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Workflow efficiency

  ### 49. Incredibly powerfull

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hristo M. | Sitefinity Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The more one gets to know Sitefinity, the more he realises the HUGE potential it has of achieving tons of various tasks, being extremely easy for content editors at the same time. If your project is properly configured - fitting your needs with a proper discussion of what exactly needs to be edited often and how - Sitefinity might turn out to be the best CMS there is.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Finding the correct implementation partner might be hard. Sitefinity allows tons of different ways to achieve the same thing, but only experienced agencies will build and configure your project in such a manner, that it would fit your exact needs.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dynamic content changes in multiple languages performed and reviewed by a lot of people.

  ### 50. Sitefinity responsive to client needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the service staff at Sitefinity. Their response time to my questions is consistently same day or within 24 hours. Once issues are discussed, the service staff is always clear to talk about expectations and timelines, which are prompt.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

My frustrations with Sitefinity have been limited. I would like more flexibility in changing the appearance of our website pages, but many of my issues have been with getting our third-party provider to work with Sitefinity in a timely manner, not the other way around.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

My only recommendations for new Sitefinity clients would be to make sure you're clear about your needs and ask about potential pitfalls.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have worked with Sitefinity staff to optimize our website speed and upgrade software. Our users are pleased with the changes we've made, largely because their time on the site is much more productive and efficient.
