Built by Fundamentia, a Spanish deep-tech company focused on AI for regulated industries, PrivacÿShield addresses one of the hardest problems in privacy-preserving AI: protecting individuals not only from obvious identifiers, but from the context that can re-identify them. Most anonymization and PII redaction tools mask explicit identifiers — names, national IDs, account numbers, email addresses. PrivacÿShield goes further with semantic anonymization: it interprets context and neutralizes the indirect references and quasi-identifiers — roles, locations, dates, relationships, rare attributes — that allow a person to be re-identified even after direct identifiers are removed. This closes the re-identification gap that basic data masking leaves open, and gives data protection and compliance teams a defensible approach to sensitive-data handling. PrivacÿShield is designed to make large language models (LLMs) and analytics safe to use on regulated data. Before documents reach a model — cloud or local — PrivacÿShield removes or replaces sensitive information, so teams can adopt generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and downstream analytics while staying compliant. It supports GDPR and the EU AI Act, as well as the confidentiality requirements of banking, insurance, legal and healthcare. Like the rest of Fundamentia's stack, PrivacÿShield can be deployed on-premise, keeping data inside the customer's perimeter and preserving data sovereignty — an increasingly important requirement as organizations weigh where their data goes when they call third-party AI services.
