"Great tool for managing a website and easily editing it and adding new pages"
What do you like best about Prismic?

I like how easy it is to add a new page. I really don't need a single line of code. I go to my prismic dashboard, click create new, and there it is, a new page exactly where I want it to be and with the format I want, and if I want a different style page; adding buttons and creating a new page URL isn't necessary, I only have to worry about the code relating to styling my page. It really does increase my efficiency especially since my primary job is not a full-stack dev. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

I think Prismic's options for elements to add to slices are somewhat limited. If there was an increased selections of items you could add to your slice that would be great. I'm also having some issues with the new auto-save feature not working as expected. If I exit the page sometimes my work isn't saved and there isn't a save button as it got removed. For now since the auto-save isn't working perfectly I prefer having the button. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pretty straightforward, very easy to use from a non-technical perspective"
What do you like best about Prismic?

I built our entire marketing landing page using Prismic and used it daily for about a week. Prismic was extremely straightforward to use once you learn the basics of it.

Something that really stands out to me is their MCP and integration with Cursor. I typically do not rely on Cursor for coding, especially straightforward frontend components, but in this case I was curious. After trying it, the MCP generated something that was almost exactly what I wanted and I typically only had to add a few more lines of Tailwind to style it perfectly. Very impressive. What do you dislike about Prismic?

Documentation to start was a bit spare, so they could definitely improve on the Getting Started guide. Specifically, it was confusing to me on how to leverage things like Slices within Custom Types and the differentiation between Custom Types and Normal Types.

Again, otherwise, after learning, it was pretty straightforward though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"the worst product I've had to work with"
What do you like best about Prismic?

- can run with multiple seats. it's easily their best feature & I use it to delegate Prismic work to others because every time i have to do it myself it brings me to tears.

- it does what it advertises. it's a CMS. a rigid one.

- i have a point of contact, which is nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

Unfortunately I have to use it on a weekly basis and I always end up spending way more time than I would like to:

- completely unscalable: their search algorithm is messy, which makes it very hard to find a specific documents when you have 1000+ pages. I usually try 4-5 docs before finding the right one.

- AI translation feature: (this one is in beta, so I could give it a pass) However, using caused so many new problems 1) it costs 3-4 usd that you need to pay upfront, once. If you want to reload, the price jumps to 5usd/doc without real justification about this price increase. Their AI feature looks like a basic GPT wrapper which costs them cents to run. 2) it's impossible to select multiple pages to translate at once, so you have to translate them 1 by 1. Now what happens when you need to translate your 100+ pages website to 6+ languages? :) We had to hire a 2 juniors who spent 4 weeks in total just clicking on the "Translate with AI" button.

It was a mess to manage, costly, and extremely cumbersome.

- so so so rigid. Basic text formatting cannot be done, unless it's been specifically coded by the dev team. Zero ability for non-dev team to inject custom code so as a marketing team you always depend on your dev team. Zero autonomy -> crazy to be still the case in 2025.

would not recommend at all and will be the last time I ever use Prismic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Lidija Kacar of Prismic

Hi Jim,

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review. I’m sorry to hear your experience with Prismic hasn’t been great. You mentioned that it feels rigid, and our goal is to give marketing teams the flexibility to move quickly while keeping websites consistent and on brand. Custom-built slices with specific guardrails are part of that foundation, as we’ve seen it helps teams stay aligned at scale, but we also see opportunities to make marketers more independent. Our marketing tools team is actively looking at how we can bring more of that to life, and your feedback is important as we shape those improvements.

On search, we’ve recently added support for title, name, and UID/slug, and we’re exploring ways to expand it further, including indexing content. We’d love to hear more about your workflow and what you feel is missing. On translation, we know AI-assisted workflows are essential, and bulk translation is a top priority for us next year. Highlighting this gap helps us align better with real-world use cases.

Thanks again for your honesty. Feedback like this helps us make Prismic better for you and the rest of our users.

"Prismic: Simple & Customizable"
What do you like best about Prismic?

I love the simplicity of Prismic's user interface, which makes managing my content easier. It allows me to customize the platform extremely with my own types, ensuring that I can always create my content in a data structure that suits me, thus maintaining quality. The excellent integration possibilities are particularly valuable as they allow me to use Prismic efficiently with my existing NextJS and TailwindCSS site and to highly customize it. This flexibility and adaptability make Prismic a central tool for my content management, especially in managing multilingual content and publication control. The initial setup was also very easy, which smoothed and made the entire startup process efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

It would be cool if Prismic already had ready-made design configurations for TailwindCSS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Content Management with Intuitive Interface"
What do you like best about Prismic?

What I like most about Prismic is how easy it is to edit and create pages without needing deep technical knowledge. The interface is very intuitive and allows me to update content or build new sections quickly, which makes collaboration between marketing and development teams much smoother. The custom types and repeatable fields make it easy to maintain consistency across the website while still giving flexibility for different layouts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

Sometimes the preview mode can take a bit to update or doesn’t reflect the exact final version right away, which can be confusing when reviewing design changes. Also, integrating new slices occasionally requires a developer’s help, so it’s not 100% no-code in every situation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Prismic: Client-Friendly CMS for TypeScript Projects"
What do you like best about Prismic?

As a freelance full stack TypeScript developer, I’ve found Prismic to be a great balance between flexibility and simplicity. Its ease of use is a standout — the content editor interface is clean, intuitive, and non-technical clients pick it up quickly with minimal training.

From an implementation point of view, it’s mostly straightforward. The TypeScript SDKs and API typings make integration smooth, and the Slice Machine workflow feels natural for component-driven development. Integrating Prismic into modern frameworks like Next.js is easy.

I use Prismic fairly frequently for client sites where content flexibility is important but a fully custom CMS would be overkill. It offers a strong set of features without becoming bloated.

Overall, integration is easy, developer experience is excellent, and the editor experience keeps clients happy. It’s one of my go-to headless CMS options for TypeScript projects that need speed, scalability, and clean content modeling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

The documentation can be inconsistent and sometimes lags behind the latest SDK or Slice Machine updates.

Fetching connected fields via the SDK doesn’t work - you need to fall back to a GraphQuery, which breaks the otherwise clean developer experience.

The legacy vs. modern workflow divide (old custom type editor vs. Slice Machine) is confusing, especially when new to the CMS.

It’s not a great choice without a supported framework — integration feels much rougher if you’re outside the supported ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All in all a nice low-code CMS"
What do you like best about Prismic?

I really appreciate the low-code approach of Prismic.io — it empowers anyone with just basic HTML and CSS knowledge to build fully functional, CMS-friendly websites using the Prismic Slice Machine UI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

One downside I've noticed with Prismic is that when you upload images or videos to the media library and use them across your site, deleting them later from the media library doesn't remove them from the CDN. This means the files still exist online and can result in unnecessary storage or bandwidth costs over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very Useful Website Platform for both Developers and Users"
What do you like best about Prismic?

- The adoption of multiple modern developer web libraries makes customizing my portfolio easy to implement!

- The fact that you can create custom page types and custom blocks of UI makes it feel like a React-version of Wordpress, very easy to integrate!

- The tutorials online on how to first get into Prismic development makes it very easy for me to use the platform often! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

- Nitpicky but I wish there was a dark mode in their builder!

- Instructions on their Live Preview Settings can be a bit cumbersome to navigate how to ultimately use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Content Management"
What do you like best about Prismic?

I use Prismic to easily manage and update content in our online shop, and what I like best is how intuitive the interface is. It’s very straightforward to navigate, even for non-technical users, which makes daily content updates fast and hassle-free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

Some features feel a bit hidden at first, and it can take a moment to understand how slices and custom types are structured. Once you get used to it, it works well, but the initial learning curve could be smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Interface and Seamless Collaboration for Content Management"
What do you like best about Prismic?

Prismic offers an intuitive interface that makes it easy for non-developers to create pages and manage website content. It also fosters great collaboration between designers and developers, enabling them to build and reuse custom slices efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Prismic?

Occasionally, page previews can be unreliable before publishing — sometimes they don’t load fully or briefly show before returning a 404 error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
