Prestashop can be installed on a shared server and it will be fast and load the pages promptly. From all the different out-of-the-box carts I tried, I thought it was the easiest to install and use, it was also the one that looked the most Web 2.0 when the other carts still looked old and outdated. Recently the Prestashop team revamped their basic theme to make it responsive for phones and small screens and I must say it looks nice and professional. Prestashop has an active and helpful forum and members are willing to help to get you up and running. They will also help you find the modules or implement the features you look for to customize your shop. The SEO per page is well done. About 2 months after setting up the online store, It was possible to find products online on Google highly ranked simply by typing the product name or product description. I was impressed by its efficiency. There is also a large selection of themes (free and paid) available that allows to get up and running fast. Same thing for modules, there is a large choice. **What do you dislike about PrestaShop?** There is no blog integrated. There are modules available to give this option and you can use the integrated "cms" pages but it's not anywhere close to the Wordpress blogging experience. Even though it's easy to install "out-of the box", the person who wants to do the installation should still have some basic HTML skills and know how to setup a website on a webhost. Also, the countries who do not support Paypal as a payment method can have difficulty accepting online payments. Prestashop team should make sure that every country in the world has at least 1 or 2 usable payment methods. Before creating their shop online, the shop owners should have a small description of each of their products to sell online. Some shop owners don't take the time to write content. It's an important step that makes the product pages more descriptive and interesting. **Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:** Before you get started with any out-of-the-box shopping cart (such as Prestashop), make sure you have pictures, titles and small product descriptions for each product you want to display online. It takes time to do but it's essential if you want to have a nice and usable store. **What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?** Prestashop allows small businesses to display their products online and, optionally, give them the ability to sell online worldwide. ### 3. Complete but yet simple, reasonable in ressources consumption and the latest templates are very efficient, complete and usable. The community is large and many addons can be bought to complete most feature one can need in the small to mid market. The entry cost is probably the most affordable, exception made of SaaS offers, but otherwise, in a platform mode, it is almost unbeatable. **What do you dislike about PrestaShop?** Prestashop's cache could be more evolved to handle peak loads more easily, but once mastered, it's not a real problem. The lack of a framework (like Zend or Symfony) to back the product is somehow a bit regrettable, even if it is made on purpose and offers other advantage. Lacks a bit of personnalisation tools. **Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:** Prestashop went through a lot lately. But the Phoenix is back a stronger than ever with a meaningful fundraiser of 7 M€ and a world domination plan that seems credible. The company is profitable again and the version 1.6.x seem to have erased the previous bugs & glitches that once polluted the product. Efficient and straightforward, Prestashop is a very important player in the world of PHP ecommerce software. The product evolved sharply lately, and the count of shops is very precise, far more accurate than Magento's one that tend to more declarative than checked. Prestashop as a plan, means and experience, it's definitely a product to consider for entry level sites. **What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?** Entry level ecommerce platform, complete and surprisingly efficient. ### 9. PrestaShop manages to perfectly find that middle ground. Customizing the software via modules (bought or developed in-house) is easy and does not cause future upgrades to be a nightmare. **What do you dislike about PrestaShop?** Support costs seem a bit expensive for a technical company needing only a little help here and there. **Recommendations to others considering PrestaShop:** It is worth hiring the company to install the software on your own server (or hosted server), but avoid their 'PrestaBox' software, as most integrations don't work on it. **What problems is PrestaShop solving and how is that benefiting you?** We run a medium sized online store that needed an E-Commerce solution that could integrate with our ERP software (SalesOrder). PrestaShop was easy to setup, taking only about 20 hours to install, configure, and import our 1500 item SKUs.
