"Efficient Student Information System"
4/5
What do you like best about PowerSchool SIS?

As a kindergarten teacher I need something quick and simple when it comes to taking attendance. PowerSchool is a great platform for daily tasks such as taking attendance and unique tasks like looking up student data and files. PowerSchool is organized in a way that makes it easy to upload grades that are tied to your state standards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PowerSchool SIS?

It can be frustrating when PowerSchool is "down" for the day. It seems that the software needs frequent updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Invaluable student data during remote instruction"
4/5
What do you like best about PowerSchool SIS?

During remote instruction, staff and students are siloed at home. This could have been problematic when it came to reviewing student progress, especially students with IEPs where their goals need to be monitored closely! But, PowerSchool SIS keeps all of our information in one central location- no digging through Google drive etc for important spread sheets! This kept our teams on track to monitor and support students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PowerSchool SIS?

Being able to share student data right from the SIS would be more time conducive than downloading reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The pros and cons of using PS as your SIS"
3.5/5
What do you like best about PowerSchool SIS?

The upsides of using Powerschool is PS's integration with Schoology. PS is very user friendly and very few teachers have issues taking attendance or inputting grades. The program is just that intuitive. This integration with Schoology (we are only one year in this partnership) helped our teachers tremendously and has saved them time in grading. The importing of students and classes works really well too, and this sync happens every night, so if a new student registers, the student is automatically added to their Schoology courses. This is helpful for teachers. We also like the submit log entry feature in PS, as we use them as a way for teachers and admin to connect over behavioral or academic interventions for academic success. We also like the different attendance codes we can create. This is helpful for state reporting. We like the comment banks for assignments and for report cards. PowerSchool seems to integrate with most other educational programs, which is helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PowerSchool SIS?

Sometimes it seems like PS goes down quite a bit and this is frustrating for our users. I wish running reports from PS was easier for admin and teachers alike. More teacher autonomy for creating assignments across platforms with categories. Setting up mastery scales should be easier, as more schools are moving in that direction. We'd also like to create a category or grading exclusion where if a teacher marks something "missing" or "late," the grade automatically reflects a 50%--this is a new district-wide grading policy. How do we set up new grading exceptions? How do we set up mastery level grading scales? How do we stack classes in scheduling? One downside to using PS, in our district, is that this program does so much, but very few people know how to use it at its full capacity. Our resident PS guru is retiring, and I fear we will lose all of her institutional knowledge. What are the best resources for self-training? It also seems that our contact feature is no longer available or it moved and this is has been confusing for teachers. We don't know why or how this moved, but teachers look up the contact info of students all the time. We now find it in the Powerteacher gradebook pro side of things. "PowerSchool Has it All at a Price"
4.5/5
What do you like best about PowerSchool SIS?

The GUI is great and the metaphor for finding students and then reporting or processing is perfect.

The ability to customize is amazing. Using customizations we have ben able to provide tools for administrators and teachers to follow students for the first day in the district until they graduate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PowerSchool SIS?

In the beginning PowerSchool promised a broad spectrum of tools and apps in a single place but now each new tool adds to the price and some of the new tool are not fully integrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
