Most teachers nowadays have lots of things in a Google Drive, and it is not user-friendly to attach assignments to multiple courses without lots of clicking. It's also difficult to navigate the many settings and have it synced with our current LMS gradebook (Home Access). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like all the options of assignments and assessments that you can create for students in Schoology. It makes learning a lot more fun and more enjoyable. I can incorporate many tech tools and complete assignments I wouldn't have with pen and paper. The assessment tool allows for some self-graded tasks, making grading a lot faster and a lot easier. I do not like that students cannot be sent a list of missing assignments. I don't particularly appreciate how the student's grade book looks compared to my teacher's grade book. It makes it hard to compare assignments and grades. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Schoology resembles Facebook in its layout and design. With that in mind, changes to each course are quite easy to implement. Courses are automatically archived, so one doesn't have to make that a separate step - until you want to copy the course for the next time it is taught. Links and other resources are easily added for students to see and use. Further, discussions are relatively easy to manage by highlighting a specific student's contributions, and seeing what posts are new since the last time you viewed the question(s).

As a member of Schoology Champions, I do have a bias toward this system, but I have learned to work with it over the past number of years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Probably the most challenging part of discussions is not being able to grade an individual post within the discussion board without the entire group seeing the comments on that student's post. For instance, if a student is required to post 5 times within the week, the teacher can't assign a grade to each post. Only a composite can be posted.

Another challenge could be if a course is structured for students to contract for their grade. For instance, students must earn x number of points for an A, etc. Such open-ended grading isn't really an option on Schoology. (I discovered this with a particular class when we moved everything online for COVID-19 adaptations.)

Another challenge we have faced, and some of this relates to our university, is the inability to personalize each class page. Again, that probably has more to do with school policy than weakness of Schoology, but we had more artistic license on our previous LMS.

When I first used the conferencing feature, not all my students could enter the virtual classroom in my largest group of students. Since that feature did not work for my on Schoology, I switched to using Zoom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The biggest draw to Schoology is the ease of storing and sharing resources. The content management Schoology has to offer is unparalleled. I am able to create and share with a huge network of users. I like the ability to preplan and create course content in a sandbox, save it to resources, and then just push it out to my students. It is easy to grade from my phone and on-the go. I can communicate with my students almost instantly in many cases. I also like the built in ability to do voice or video recording from within the LMS without a 3rd party software. I have personally had issues with SIS grade syncing and felt that the merger with Powerschool did not run smoothly. Due to outages when many switched to online learning, several of my coworkers reverted to Google Classroom for the remaineder of the school year and I was discouraged from using it by many. The UX could use some improvement and simplification, especially on the student end. Sometimes submission can take many clicks if it is from a 3rd party application. Many educators feel overwhelmed because it is so powerful. Improved 3rd party integration and UX design would make this product more appealing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can see all the classes/assignments and even zoom links for different classes all at one place.I believe this is such a wonderful collaboration which bring Parents Kids and teachers and ofcourse other members or person of interest under one umbrella. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Schoology makes it easy to create organized courses. The side menu (materials, updates, grades, etc) makes it easy for students and teachers to navigate and the folder, pages, and gallery features provide lots of options for course design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Schoology often requires too many clicks for a simple task such as uploading a file. Additionally, it is difficult to access the support team because individual account holders must go through their organization's Schoology administrator to submit help tickets. I like how customizable all courses are in Schoology. I can add and remove things from teacher-created courses and admin-created courses. It has a built-in LMS with Powerschool, so my grades sync automatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I dislike that you need an admin account to add and edit widgets or external tools. If you have the secret and consumer key, you can add almost any LMS add-on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
