You also need some technical know-how to take advantage of the more advanced features and use them effectively. **What problems is PowerSchool Schoology Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** PowerSchool / Schoology is our current LMS. It integrates with our SIS to sync in-progress grades with final grades, transcripts, and related records. For us, it helps bridge the gap between having a separate LMS and a grading portal, and then needing to sync all of that somewhere else. ### 2. I appreciated the ability to color-code folders so that students and I could easily ascertain which folder I needed in a unit. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Schoology Learning?** As a teacher-user, I could set up Schoology to make sense for me. I repeated folders within units. However, as a parent of a student, it is clear that there is no rhyme or reason for how different teachers set up folders. It becomes frustrating for students and for parents. No two accounts can be open at the same time on a computer. It's fairly flexible, allowing teachers the option to grade by points or percentages. It is possible to create many different folders to organize materials for students to use. I also like how you can link to other platforms on Schoology to provide students with a wide variety of experiences. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Schoology Learning?** The flip side to the way that Schoology is customizable is that it can be fairly labor intensive to organize materials into folders for students. As a service provider who works with students in many different classes, it can take a lot of time to create materials and organize them in an understandable way for all of them. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Schoology Learning:** I would recommend that, when you begin using Schoology, it is helpful to be prepared to take some time initially to learn how to use Schoology. It also gives students a place to collect and organize all their learning materials, and access resources whenever they'd like. It has an interface much like Facebook, thus making it intuitive and easy to use among all generations. I especially enjoy and appreciate the assessment features of Schoology. I'ma able to proctor exams through the website, as well as easily grade the exams. It's green friendly in the fact that I no longer use paper in my classes. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Schoology Learning?** It frequently will crash or delete students, and needs to be managed by my district's IT department. At times it also will log out some users and delete content. It also lacks many simple features that would allow for an easier experience. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Schoology Learning:** You certainly should look into Schoology, but investigate the resources that your school has. If you could afford something more, then maybe you should upgrade. **What problems is PowerSchool Schoology Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's an easier way to manage my thirty-eight students. I've benefited from the ability to grade my students immediately and have their grades updated on a weekly basis, for the student's and their parent's sake. No longer is there the need to have face-to-face dialogue as students are able to see how they have scored and why they scored the way that they did. ### 10. As a parent - this is VERY CONFUSING!!!!! It does appear to be like a "facebook" type of feed, but there are lots of information that is posted that you would have to change your settings. I do like that my children's accounts can be linked into one and that I can message a teacher from the site. As a teacher - parents do not check at the younger grades. It is easier send an email to parents to share important information. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Schoology Learning?** Parents do not utilize Schoology at the younger grades. There needs to be training in how to use the program for teachers and parents. Seeing student's grades/report cards you have to click on lots of links just to get information. I want to be able to see an entire report card with comments and grades on one page similar to Progress Book. Site is very confusing. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Schoology Learning:** Not recommended for younger grades - good fit for middle school and high school students/parents **What problems is PowerSchool Schoology Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is similar to a Facebook type feed so it is a very easy format that is familiars to families. ### 11. I also love that I can give students the option to take an assessment over and fix their mistakes digitally. No more papers to grade!! **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Schoology Learning?** I dislike that I cannot share activeinspire flip charts. The files cannot be supported by Schoology and they are too large. It would be nice to be able to use the progressive flipped classroom model and I simply cannot do that with Schoology. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Schoology Learning:** It’s a life saver. It stops me from having piles stack up and tons to grade. I love it. **What problems is PowerSchool Schoology Learning solving and how is that benefiting you?** It saves me a ton of time grading and passing out assessments and assignments. It also allows students to work remotely such as on the bus or at home using the app. It has made my life much easier with grading as the students have instant feedback on multiple choice questions. Furthermore, it has saved me from having to use so much paper! I can use the same or edited assignments for all of my class sections without ever running to the copier because I was one or two short. ### 12.
