I appreciate that Naviance allows students to explore their options for professions and colleges, and even identify which types of jobs align with their personalities and strengths. As educators, we are able to submit necessary college application documents. I like that Naviance is quick and allows us to have a virtual confirmation that school documents have been sent and received. I can log in and see when documents were submitted and whether they were downloaded by the colleges or not, even providing a confirmation number that colleges can use to look up the missing documents. This typically means the documents are located without additional effort on my end or the student's. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** The integration with Common App can be clunky, and some info about careers, especially, is buried. Sometimes a great career option for a student might not be recommended to them because of how search terms or their answers to just a couple of questions. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use PowerSchool Naviance CCLR to help students explore careers and colleges suited to their strengths, while it allows us to submit and confirm college documents efficiently. ### 2. Every ticket goes to a robot and never seems to be addressed by an actual human. You receive canned responses that do not even address your concern and there appears to be no ability to escalate. We continue to have outstanding issues that will never be resolved. They rolled out not two, but 3 versions of their report engine, none of which are intuitive and all are laggy and require a comical amount of clicks to pull a simple excel export. Our school counselors have consistent issues with common app information. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** It provides features our counselors need, however most of the data exists already in our student information system so it's primarily college application tools. ### 3. They could not get through the massive amount of college apps the studnets push through without it. ### 4. The idea of linked parents, students, and counslers is great and helpfull for all parties, though I don't think naviance does a great job communicating the other parites deadlines for uploading certain things. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** It's very clunky and I dispise the many times it has reloaded itself asking me to re sign in (seesion timed out i guess), just to delete all the progress of what I was working on, specifically the school survays and resume builder. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** College Preparation Service ### 6. It is extremely rare that we don't have a resolution within a few days (for complex issues) if it isn't solved within the same day. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** We had some growing pains in trying to implement a way to create/link parent accounts to their student accounts automatically. However, it is my understanding that with the recent acquisition by PowerSchool, this process will now be streamlined, and parents will be able to access Naviance directly from their PowerSchool Parent Portal in an upcoming release. Additionally, over time the overnight automated sync process with PowerSchool has left a bit to be desired and we had to frequently tweak the parameters of our exported file in order to ensure that we had all of the data that we were expecting. Within the past few years, Naviance changed their password requirements and as a result we were no longer able to utilize our student PowerSchool login information as the passwords were shorter than the new minimum required length that was implemented. However, in configuring a Google single sign-on instead all of those problems went away as students can now just use their district Google credentials to log with the convenient one-click method as long as they are actively logged into their Google account. Overall, due to the amazing staff at Naviance, even the complaints we have aren't really complaints since they regularly take care of all of our concerns. **Recommendations to others considering PowerSchool Naviance CCLR:** If you are considering whether Naviance would be a good fit for your district, I would suggest checking with other districts in your area to verify whether any of them are using it. Naviance support itself is great, but nothing beats hearing things from actual users who may be able to explain things in a better way since they are utilizing the software in the same way that you would be. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We previously didn't have an easy way to manage our alumni information, and frequently what we ended up doing was just putting together reports using a bunch of data from our SIS, but we recently began implementing Naviance's Alumni Tracker in order to simplify this process and enable us to spend more time productively rather than trying to cobble together information from our SIS and other sources, which obviously was previously a very inefficient process. ### 7. Until this year, I loved this program. For some reason, they made some adjustments to the program and we had massive issues with being unable to submit letters despite doing everything (seemingly) right on our end. The login process is a mess, temporary passwords often don't work, and the system likes to shut you out. I was in the middle of writing my brag "sheet", when the website said "Your session was expiring", didn't let me "extend " my "session", and logged me out, scrambled my password again, and DELETED EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF MY PROGRESS. The teacher page also looks different from what students see, so it can be difficult to walk a class through how to access needed lessons or materials. They use Naviance to write annual academic, career, and social/personal goals , explore career paths through unique career cluster and key inventories, and have a great college exploration tool . You can easily survey students and assign tasks to document what has been completed. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** If settings are not correct, information can be lost from year to year or when transferring school levels. Otherwise, can't guarantee they'll do it on their own time. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** My students are very unfamiliar with the college application process (low-SES school). However, Naviance allows them to see what schools are safeties, matches, and reaches for them. They are able to realistically see where they should apply, and have a guide throughout the application process. ### 30. It is incredible how everything is packaged into one program. The students love using it and are amazed at what the program can do. The program has brought a whole new level of knowledge and information to the students. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** I have a pretty positive attitude towards Naviance. There are a couple of downsides to the program. I believe that the program is quite expensive. It has some great add on features, however quite pricey. Another downfall is that not all colleges or universities accept electronic documents. Which then in turn makes the process archaic again. I also had some technology issues with the add on curriculum piece and it took them several months to fix the problem. **What problems is PowerSchool Naviance CCLR solving and how is that benefiting you?** The benefits are great. I have a tracking system of when I send transcripts and publish scholarships. There is also an excellent piece to communicate with parents. The organization of the website is very simple and easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** The one aspect of Naviance that does not work well is notifications. I had students tell me they had submitted a request for me, but I had to log in to see the request. It allows students to put all of their information in one place. From there, independent college counselors, parents, and teachers can access everything. It is without a doubt a necessary tool. It fills in gaps and leaves no stone unturned. It is such a helpful tool for communicating with multiple people who are all necessary in the college process. **What do you dislike about PowerSchool Naviance CCLR?** There is nothing I truly dislike about Naviance.
