PPT is helpful for things other than slides. I actually use PPT also for mood board/inspiration designs, as well as magazine mock-ups instead of using other photomanipulation software. PPT keeps each object as a separate layer, so it is more intuitive than heavy hitting programs. PPT is my favorite way to organize data, infographics, and analyses into a presentable and easy-to-digest report.
I can't think of anything I dislike about PPT. I think there could be some more pre-created themes, but I also haven't updated my software to the latest version. It is easy to use, even for software beginners, and it seems pretty intuitive, although I am biased having used it for so long.
There are other versions, competitors, and substitutes, but PowerPoint is one of the first industry standards for slide deck software. I've been using it since I was a kid, and it is a great way to present insights.
PPT gets me through work, got me through grad school, and helped me in undergrad. It is a necessity for all the presentations I had to pull together. I still use it almost daily for presenting data analytics in my current job.
