## About PolicyPak
PolicyPak, now part of Netwrix, is a modern desktop management platform for the "anywhere" workforce. PolicyPak provides a powerful policy creation, management, and deployment framework that extends the policy management, security, automation, and reporting capabilities found within Windows Active Directory, Unified Endpoint Management solutions, MDM providers, virtualization platforms, and cloud services. PolicyPak comes with Paks, each with its own set of customizable policies that enable IT and teams to solve today's most significant desktop management challenges like remote work, Windows endpoint management, GPO sprawl, ransomware, Group Policy management, and more. PolicyPak lowers IT costs, increases security, improves compliance, reduces GPOs, and puts the IT admin back in charge. Primary use cases include reducing local administrator rights without breaking approved applications, consolidating Group Policy Objects to reduce sprawl, deploying policy to non-domain-joined and remote machines through the cloud or MDM, and cutting down on end-user support tickets tied to UAC prompts, browser mismatches, and file-association errors. Main capabilities include: - Local admin least-privilege management: removes unnecessary local administrator rights from standard users and sets up secure elevation rules so users can bypass UAC prompts for approved tasks without full admin access. - Ransomware and Shadow IT prevention: uses file-owner-based allowlisting to block untrusted scripts and applications, removing the overhead of maintaining manual exception lists. - Application, browser, and file management: enforces application settings, Java security rules, and browser routing so specific sites open in specific browsers, and controls default file associations across managed devices. - GPO consolidation and flexible deployment: merges redundant Group Policy settings to reduce GPO sprawl and speeds up login times, with delivery options through traditional Group Policy (GPMC), MDM/UEM platforms like Microsoft Intune and SCCM, or PolicyPak Cloud for devices outside the domain. - Software deployment and removal: automates the installation, patching, and removal of applications delivered through Windows, WinGet, and web-based sources. - Device and peripheral control: manages removable device access, including USB and other peripherals, to reduce data loss and malware risk. PolicyPak is used primarily by endpoint security teams, IT administrators, and desktop engineering teams across organizations of varying sizes, including government agencies, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and higher education. It's licensed by the number of endpoints and VDI connections it's actively managing, and integrates with Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (SCCM and Intune), and virtualization/VDI environments such as Citrix and VMware, allowing organizations to apply policy controls to devices traditional Group Policy alone cannot reach.
