What do you like best?

The PMG team works hard to help you achieve your business process automation strategy. They listen and learn your processes. They work with you to implement the best features for your needs. They are always bringing forward fresh ideas and new technology with every release. What do you dislike?

PMG could do a better job with their documentation and release notes. It is hard sometimes to know what great features they have released and we often find out form our consultation team about new features instead of being able to read and learn about them on our own. What do you like best?

There seems to be very little the PMG service catalog application can't do. We have used it as a solution for many different problems. We began using it in the IT department and its use expanded into some of the company's core business areas. The workflow engine is very robust as well as easy to use. What do you like best?

We have almost 4,000 users of this system, requesting almost 18,000 products, security requests, business functions per year. I am the lone support for this system and this is only one of the systems I support. If you get a proper set of workflows put together from the get-go, this is not a problem. A great majority of these requests are for access to various other systems. I am able to provide almost instant access for the requester after the automated approval process has been completed. What do you dislike?

I find the reporting capabilities are rather limited. However, I am not on the most current version of the system and I've heard that the newer database structure and reporting features are much improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Although purchased primarily to fulfill IT service requests, we also use for credit approvals for our customers, requesting access to various business groups, even for facilitating purchase processes for outside customers. We use the connector for CA, which allows us to create tickets for various user support groups (desktop, Workday, Service Desk). What do you like best?

I like the flexibility in both the form and workflow to do both simple and complex solutions. The platform is easy for development. Most things can be accomplished with simple fields or steps. If you are looking for a answer to a more complex solution, the tools are available to do this. The workflow especially adds power to solve a problem. The workflow can route a request based on answers to the form or and run automation via APIs.

PMG improved the Work Dashboard so that it is so much easier to use. It allows customized views which almost makes it a reporting tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that there is not much you can do to move a field left or right on the form when using a dynaform.

I also find it hard to pull data out of the platform. It is a great tool for gathering data, but it is hard when I need to use additional tools to pull the data for reqporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are able to process requests both manually and automatically while getting accurate information from the customer. Our company has such a variety of work intake tools, most of them inadequate, that people find PMG Service Catalog as a refreshing solution. The platform makes it easy to submit a request and then track it via status or by looking at the workflow. The technician and support team have been wonderful. The product PMG has been extremely helpful in the employee IT processes and also the Dealer body. What do you like best?

workflows hands down. powershell integration especially. APIs and Functions are great too. workflow logging is also fantastic Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

UI development. I still feel like it's a struggle to display what I want to display

Forms can do alot but it takes a lot of time learning the quirks and hacks to get it to do what you want.

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

For complex services, knowledge of advanced coding is required. These are generally a small percentage of offerings but like most workflow based platforms may take a some time to plan and effectively build. What do you like best?

The best aspects are use of visual, drag and drop actions to create workflows. Another great selling point is the rapid response from PMG company for new features and tweaks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Due to the pace of enhancement sometimes the Help lags behind the new features and this has been a bit of a friction point in expanding our PMG usage. The "customer" UI doesn't really meet our needs and we find we write full UI's in standard code platform (GCP, PCF, Node, etc.) then use PMG for the "engine" behind the actions that the user can initiate from that UI. Operationalizing repetitive IT tasks that used to take multiple teams with data handoffs along the way and simplifying down to workflows with a clear visual path. What do you like best?

Automation. It is an exceptional tool for automating any aspects of a digital business. My favorite feature is the ability to use powershell local and remotely Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lack of Documentation for the advanced features. There is a bit of a learning curve and there are bugs but PMG does have an amazing support staff and are constantly developing new features based on their customers needs and any issues i have faced thus far have been promptly resolved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We researched all of the major low-code providers, but PMG out-performed in cost and support, and it provided the fastest way to get our processes on track for automation. Their demos were taylor made to provide us with a clear idea on how to achieve our initial Proof of concepts. All the other guys did were provide confusing demos unrelated to our business scenarios. What do you like best?

This platform is highly configurable and because it's low code, you can get great value out of it without having to have a typical developer skill set. However, the more skills you have, the more you can get out of it. There is so much you can do with it if you want to.

A lot of what we have previously disliked has been addressed as we've asked for enhancements. We have created a process for automated migrations but it would be nice if that was part of the platform. What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

While there is less coding and more configuration which makes if faster and easier to deliver a solution, it also causes limitations. I would say it is worth the trade-off. The other issue is that PMG doesn't have the name recognition that a platform like ServiceNow has, which is too bad when people decide to go for the big names. What do you like best?

It's easy to administer and making changes is very low impact. Love that we don't have to follow any change management practices within our organization for this tool because most changes are considered content changes. Partner with service owners and functions outside of IT to gauge their needs. Communicate about the tool. Our experience was that we built it and they came. We are using it as a service catalog and we have automated numerous processes inside and outside of IT using it. Formalizing product and service IT delivery processes. The PMG platform allows us to quickly work with an IT delivery team, formalize their delivery process and, in many cases, automate without needing to know any specific coding language. We are able to easily train additional "developers" to "federate" our approach to remove bottlenecks of a single team approach. The platform is so easy to use and intuitive, we're able to provide solid repeatable delivery processes and a common experience for our end users without hiring large numbers of developers. You don't have to fully understand how to code, if you can follow logic the platform does the coding for you. One of the best features are the system workflows implemented by PMG. What do you like best?

i love how easy it is to test and troubleshoot, plus once you get the hang of the config complexities it's easy to turn around Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

i think better development docs on new features would be helpful - for example connector descriptions and what each field needs to have, and there are some fluky pieces that an experienced user just figures out over time because it's the small things but those are easy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Form and Workflow modules and actions are very powerful. This standardizes the way things are done in a federated development environment. Support staff is great to work with, they make it feel like we are their only customer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It is a great business hackathon product. It is easy for someone with limited technical skills to design a user experience and a service and implement it through the tool. You can get value very quickly and continuously build on that value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The web work list feature has been the most problematic for us, which the vendor is beginning to address. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Generate a list of the highest volume requests that you get first. Those should be the services that you optimize and then automate with the Service Catalog. Through attacking only three services that our service desk delivers in the first few months of implementation we were able to drive overall volume to our service desk down by more than 20%, which showed an immediate, quick, and tangible win with the product.
