There seems to be very little the PMG service catalog application can't do. We have used it as a solution for many different problems. We began using it in the IT department and its use expanded into some of the company's core business areas. The workflow engine is very robust as well as easy to use. We have almost 4,000 users of this system, requesting almost 18,000 products, security requests, business functions per year. I am the lone support for this system and this is only one of the systems I support. If you get a proper set of workflows put together from the get-go, this is not a problem. A great majority of these requests are for access to various other systems. I am able to provide almost instant access for the requester after the automated approval process has been completed. I like the flexibility in both the form and workflow to do both simple and complex solutions. The platform is easy for development. Most things can be accomplished with simple fields or steps. If you are looking for a answer to a more complex solution, the tools are available to do this. The workflow especially adds power to solve a problem. The workflow can route a request based on answers to the form or and run automation via APIs.

I don't like that there is not much you can do to move a field left or right on the form when using a dynaform.

PMG could do a better job with their documentation and release notes. It is hard sometimes to know what great features they have released and we often find out form our consultation team about new features instead of being able to read and learn about them on our own. Due to the pace of enhancement sometimes the Help lags behind the new features and this has been a bit of a friction point in expanding our PMG usage. The "customer" UI doesn't really meet our needs and we find we write full UI's in standard code platform (GCP, PCF, Node, etc.) then use PMG for the "engine" behind the actions that the user can initiate from that UI. Lack of Documentation for the advanced features. There is a bit of a learning curve and there are bugs but PMG does have an amazing support staff and are constantly developing new features based on their customers needs and any issues i have faced thus far have been promptly resolved Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This platform is highly configurable and because it's low code, you can get great value out of it without having to have a typical developer skill set. However, the more skills you have, the more you can get out of it. There is so much you can do with it if you want to.

A lot of what we have previously disliked has been addressed as we've asked for enhancements. We have created a process for automated migrations but it would be nice if that was part of the platform. While there is less coding and more configuration which makes if faster and easier to deliver a solution, it also causes limitations. I would say it is worth the trade-off. The other issue is that PMG doesn't have the name recognition that a platform like ServiceNow has, which is too bad when people decide to go for the big names. It's easy to administer and making changes is very low impact. Love that we don't have to follow any change management practices within our organization for this tool because most changes are considered content changes.
