So the one thing that sets play.ht apart from the rest is the inclusion of Indian languages and accents which comes really handy when making videos for target specific audience and the the voices don't sound artificial at all like most of the AI generators which have a robotic tone, along with the various features like voice styles,types ,speed changing etc, its a perfect all in one tool for voice over generation. To be honest, there is not much that I don't like about the tool except maybe giving a manual input box for speed as the soldier tends to make it hard to choose a certain speed as it is small, and sometimes the files don't generate, and I must say this happens in only like once maybe in a thousand times, but yes, these are the two things I don't like especially the speed slider. As mentioned , it has voices with Indian accent which is really helpful as most of the videos I make is targeted for the Indian audience, so a voice over with a US accent and Indian visuals don't really match so Play.ht is really me connect with the audience. I use Play.ht to generate voices (some characters, some historical figures) for YouTube videos and the selection of nationality, gender, and even emotion with some voices is easily the best value and is super easy to use. What problems is Play.ht solving and how is that benefiting you? It can generate voices that you wouldn't expect, and for different nationalities, you can even fix the pronunciations of words. That's invaluable. For instance, I used it to generate a German voice that said a few things kind of incomprehensibly (because it's not designed to speak in English; it's designed to speak in German), however, I was able to select those words and give it a phonetic spelling, which it saves to my account and any German voice will now use it. Play.ht is straightforward. You know what you are going to get and can see all the prices. You get what you pay for. This service has helped my productivity go up. I wish there was a service specifically for blogs where your website can be covered for a monthly premium. I understand with video it can be per word but I feel like because blogs are used to populate a brand, there is so much content, that the premium for that kind of need should be based on website instead of word count, just where blogs are concerned. I no longer have to worry about being in the right mood and finding the right quiet moment to do voiceovers. Once I finish writing and editing, viewers can get the information with a service like play.ht. And the way they are set up makes for a smoother experience compared to many other voiceovers. I actually couldn't use a voice-over for so long simply because the systems in place were so complicated or they would take forever. I have reviewed and used half a dozen TTS services in the last 6 months for a unique project I am working on. And without a doubt, the usability and the interface of Play.ht is a home run. When creating a complex multi-voiced project, having flexibility and ease of use is extremely rare. This is especially true in an industry as new and moving as fast as the text-to-speech industry. Also, their support has been second to none. Responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable. I am rarely impressed with text and chat support systems but Play.ht is top-notch. ut somehow Play.ht has been able to combine high-quality voice technology with what is without a doubt the best UI in the industry. In my opinion, they will come out on top when this market shakes out, and this is for two reasons. 1. Funding I don't know their funding situation but based on the quality of their website, they appear to be well funded and bigger than they may actually be. Which is part of the roll of a great interface. 2. Its ALL about the Usability As someone who has played a role in product marketing for multiple billion-dollar software companies, the key is not just a good product but marketing and creating a product the end user can and enjoys using. When purchasing an annual contract they do not allow for refunds of any kind. This goes against their level of support which is odd. Many startups use virtual assistances and contractors until they reach a level that requires a full time staff. The voices are great. I particularly like Jennifer, but there are many good voices. I also love the ease of getting AI text reading recordings into my blog posts. I wish there was more control over the podcast feature, so I could edit the podcast description and episode descriptions myself. Initially, there were a few bugs, but the functionalities and interface improved over time, and now the experience is flawless. The support has been very helpful and quick with any issue, and the CEO himself often helped me, which shows the dedication behind this project. I create hundreds of audio yearly. They are all saved in the dashboard, and you may download them at any time. I recommend using the AI voices as there is a noticeable difference with the standard ones, and they sound very realistic and natural. It is possible to edit the audio files as many times as you want, which is of primary importance to me as I need to update them over the months. Good collection of voices overall, voice styles gives the most added value. Straightforward interface, not too crowded. The software is updated well. I like the addition of new voices. I think the ultrarealistic voices are the best by far, my budget does not allow this subscription at this time. I hope some of this gets available, or maybe I can add this in the future. The most recent additions to the voice palette are fantastic, and we're eager for it to be extended beyond English to jump onboard. However, I would rather have a more straightforward way to use them other than switching subscription plans.
