I regularly code different processors including AVR, Arduino, STM32, ESP32 and Nordic. Each one requires a different IDE and each one has its own issues. With PlatformIO you get to use VSCode and Atom which are incredible editors that work on Windows, Linux, and Mac. They also have all the plugins that I need.
