The PPM tool has fantastic and frequent upgrades, whilst we do not take each upgrade this really gives us steer and the tool is constantly enhancing. New features have really enhanced the user for those who work it and for those that read the information it produces. The tool has really advanced in the last year. Java can at times be complex to use as I do not have a background in using this software, the guides are helpful but these are not always easy to understand or give the answer require meaning working on the back-end of the tool can take longer due to JAVA complexities. It's a simple and flexible tool for Project, Portfolio and Resource Management and you are quickly up to speed.

Using as a PM (mainly Gantt's and reports) is quick and easy.

Using as a Resource Manager (track people, time, holidays, training etc...) also simple.

Still using V5 and the presentation of the reports could be better (think this has been sorted in V7 with the move to HTML). We use in conjunction with Tableau right now as the Tableau front end allows a slightly easier manipulation / presentation of data. But when we move to V7 I expect that we will simply revert to using Sciforma again.

We use this in conjunction with JIRA Agile as I feel that is simpler / easier at tracking both bugs / issues plus Agile user stories. Would have been nice to have not needed this but that ship has sailed now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You have the ability to customise virtually all aspects of Sciforma to suite the way you operate. There are also standard add ons which provide extra functionality. When we started out there were not many add ons but they have come a long way since then. This has left us with a bit of a dilemma as we would like to use the add ons to replace out heavy customization. It's a lot of work but we think tis will be valuable to us. The Java tool is very hard to configure. It is not intuitive. There are no user manuals. The search system for the Knowledge Base is frustrating and a waste of time. v7.0 is a vast improvement from v5.0 but compared to other tools in the market (HP, MS Server, Clarity) its not even in the same league. Top 10 dislikes: Scheduler, restricted to assigning resources to tasks instead of projects, system is total effort based instead of planned vs. actuals, un-editable dashboards, working vs. published, token system.... The version we have uses Java which we have no end of trouble with when setting up new users. It doesn't integrate with anything else i.e. our finance system therefore all entries are manual.
