Some of the tools aren’t as strong as they could be—for example, the Marketing module isn’t integrated with the main finance platform. Being able to pull live data straight into Excel using familiar formula syntax, rather than the old copy-and-paste-into-supporting-tabs approach, has saved our team hours every reporting cycle. It makes ad hoc analysis much faster, and the ability to refresh board packs or management reports with one click means we’re always working from a single source of truth instead of relying on stale exports. I also like that we can structure the hierarchy to match how our company is actually organised, rather than being forced into a rigid template. That flexibility makes the overall reporting structure feel genuinely tailored to us. On top of that, whenever we’ve run into issues, PAMS support has been responsive and easy to work with—which matters a lot when you’re up against tight month-end or budget deadlines. **What do you dislike about Planful?** My main frustration is performance on larger reports. When you’re pulling a lot of data or running complex consolidations, it can slow down noticeably, which becomes a real bottleneck during month-end close when time is tight. Implementation and onboarding also took longer than I expected. They are always listening to what their users have to say and continually improving! **What do you dislike about Planful?** The ability to easily archive old scenarios for access again in the future. We run an annual clean up process, so there are ways of archiving the information, but to have a folder storage system in Planful (rather than exporting and saving somewhere else) would be so much easier. I also think there needs to be a method of allowing ALL users (by selection) to view dashboards at the higher entity level, while NOT allowing them drill through of these dashboards. It would be extremely helpful for us if every user could see how the department is trending budget vs actuals, and not just the portion of our hierarchy that manager manages. **Recommendations to others considering Planful:** Participation in the Planful community is really key to success. Once we were introduced to Planful Engage and actively took a role in providing reviews, references for the company as well as podcasts and other training opportunities, things improved dramatically. Reporting is great! **What do you dislike about Planful?** Because Planful is so flexible with multiple ways to do something, it can be difficult to know the right way or the best way to do something without a lot of trial and error. Dashboards are limited **What problems is Planful solving and how is that benefiting you?** Planful is making a lot of our month end processes better and more automated. Our reporting is very much improved and the drill through transaction detail has been very beneficial. It has allowed us to implement a monthly rolling forecast, balance sheet forecast and cash flow forecast automation. ### 23. This does not work well when on a mobile device. With users across multiple time zones, people often get locked out after hours. I cannot uncheck the locked button from my phone which would alllow me to unlock someone in seconds. Now I have to log back in on a computer to do it. Once you learn the basic structure and logic report building is pretty straightforward, quick and easy. **What do you dislike about Planful?** We had consultants build out our budget model, which works as designed, but is more complicated than the basic reporting and budget templates that we helped build and maintain. I'll need to get more comfortable with that part although we have replaced our old Excel based budgeting with the new Planful model. **What problems is Planful solving and how is that benefiting you?** We replaced an older Infor CPM tool that we never could get all of our financial reporting into with Planful, which now is a single source for 100% of our monthly reporting.
