I like that Plaid makes connecting my bank accounts quick and painless. It syncs my info in seconds and keeps everything secure, so I don’t have to manually enter anything or chase down extra steps. I really appreciate Plaid's API for abstracting the complexity of legacy banking APIs. This abstraction makes it incredibly useful and simplifies the process for developers. It enables developers to quickly make banking functionalities available, enhancing user experiences for consumer apps significantly. Additionally, the ease of initial setup with Plaid is remarkable, particularly for developers, making it a pleasure to work with because it is straightforward and effective. I experience frequent failures with Plaid's APIs, especially with certain banks. Even at a minimal scale, there are many failures, which affects the consistency and availability of the APIs. Plaid's support team is very responsive and takes the time to explain errors and resolution steps for each case we open with them. They always follow up to ensure that our users' issues have been resolved and see cases through to resolution. Issues can sometimes take months to resolve. Sometimes users have given up and deleted their accounts by the time their issue is resolved. There are also semi-frequent issues with some banks. I interact predominantly with Plaid's support team in our current role. I appreciate their ability to follow up on long standing tickets and provide continuous updates, when available. We will occasionally have requests for additional banks from previous years that Plaid will still follow up on, which is helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Plaid? Plaid recently started sending automatic message updates, which are also sent in the form of an email. Users with my current access can't disable these automated update emails or emails asking you for a rating. This makes it difficult to discern when Plaid has a valuable follow-up that we need to reach out to a user about, vs. when we have just a bunch of automatic replies that aren't of any value to our users or us. Despite the numerous parties we work with, over half of our emails are from Plaid, and this makes it difficult to discern their importance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Plaid: I can't comment on the technical aspect of Plaid, but I think their support is robust and solid and would be a good match for other companies looking to offer automatic finance tracking.
