Intuitive and lightweight, this program is my go to for graphic design. I've been using it for years. I appreciate the heavy weight of the bigger programs, but this one is good for what I do, which is simpler edits and graphic creation. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to start off with photo editing and graphic design without feeling overwhelmed by the more popular products.

For the most part, I don't dislike anything about Pixelmater. As I said, I've been using it for years and would recommend it to anyone starting off with photo editing and graphic design.

There are some professional features that are definitely lacking in this software. I can't remember specifically but it definitely lacks something with cutting out letter forms inside other shapes to expose the background while maintaining editable text or something along those lines. I can't quite remember what but it's something along those lines. The other issue with it is that it's not universally used so getting help with the program can be quite difficult. I am not a trained graphic designer, I find Photoshop daunting, but I want to be able to edit images far beyond my minimal experience. Enter Pixelmator: super affordable, super intuitive, and just powerful enough for what I need. I like the simplicity and clean and beautiful interface, it feels very nice working in it. As well as it has all the most important tools with which you may accomplish 90% of all tasks. I like their pricing too.
