## About PingPlotter
Sometimes solving a network problem takes more than rebooting the router. When that's the case, understanding the cause of the problem is essential to finding a solution. Is it your local network, the website you're accessing, or something in between? PingPlotter makes finding and proving the source of network problems easier. It tests the route between your computer and a target website then graphs the results. Visual evidence helps diagnose problems faster. It also helps persuade others to make changes if you find a problem with a network you do not control. Analyzing network performance with PingPlotter can be as simple or complex and you need. All it takes to get started is entering a target and clicking the trace button. From there, the tool will collect latency and packet loss data until you capture the information you need. If you're interested in more in depth analysis, plenty of features are available for testing with different packet types, getting alerted about problems, and perpetually monitoring entire networks. Free trials available at www.pingplotter.com/download.html

Very helpful in monitoring my connection.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

MOnitoring the network. Allows me to understand the characteristic of my load balancer devices.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Network monitoring

 ### 3. Ping Plotter good for continuously monitoring your web connection

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2024

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

I had problems with video calls cutting out randomly. Using PingPlotter, I was able to "ping" a website every 2.5 seconds and isolate the problem to my Internet Service Provider. They sent me a replacement router and now, with PingPlotter, I can safely say I have run for a week with no outages. This is better than me having to have a week-long video call and logs all of my drops. I like that it runs in the background, and provides a graphical interface that shows outages (such as when I purposfully disconnected from wifi for 20 minutes).

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

I'd rather have a totally FREE utility. But at least they have a free trial.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 4. Worked as intended and was easy to set up

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2024

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

The ease of use, ping plotter was very easy to set up and use and it instantly gave me the information i was looking for

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

that it is not easy to export the information in a way that could be sent to someone else and have them review it

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am attempting to isolate why a network keeps dropping packets and i was using ping plotter to see if the network was having dropped packets just over wifi or if it was also dropping them while on a lan cable

 ### 5. PingPlotter is a super tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nadine S. | Farm Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2024

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

PingPlotter highlights network problems in the click of a button. It can also show trends in the network issues. This makes troubleshooting easy and showing an ISP where your issues are become a dream.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Sometimes Pingplotter reports packet loss on internal equipment that does not have packet loss.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pinplotter is highlighting where my isp is having bottle necks and packet loss affecting my connection. PingPlotter makes this process very easy for an end user to display technical issues.

 ### 6. Easy to use, Excellent Ui, and thorough statistics!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2022

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

By far what I like the most about PingPlotter is the UI, everything is so easy to digest and understand. The graphs and charts are all easy to read and super intuitive.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

The only gripe I have is there might be a slight learning curve to truly understand exactly what you are looking at! However, once you get over this slight hurdle everything is smooth sailing!

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

Make sure to go through the how-to.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By far the biggest problem, figuring out that my ISP is the main issue of my lack of quality internet. I have had consistent packet loss and high jitter for weeks and could not pinpoint the exact source of the problem. I ended up changing my hardware (router, modem), and software(driver updates, windows reinstall), to no avail. As it turns out, with PingPlotter 5, I was able to see that the source of the issue was none other than my ISP. I will soon bring this up with my ISP's customer service and can only hope to have them correct this issue.

 ### 7. Excellent Diagnostic Tool for Business Applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2021

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

The feature I like the most is being able to run multiple pings and secondly, It shows the different hops the route takes and provides an excellent graph for showing to bosses who don't grasp the technical side of things. Fantastic!

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

There isn't much to not like about this program as it far exceeds a command-line prompt running a regular ping. Being able to run multiple pings to the same site and being able to choose different time intervals has me in awe. I can't think of one flaw that this program has. Overall it is a godsend in capturing critical data when it's needed most.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to rule out connectivity issues between our server and access points. This app has shown us that the problem does not lie with the access point but rather the software we use to compute the data and return said data back to our handheld devices.

 ### 8. Transparency, Useful, and Informative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrell W. C. | REALTOR, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2021

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

This software is extremely easy to use. What I noticed while using the free version was how stable it was. It ran for days indicating many hops. I bought the paid version to enjoy getting history and reports that I could send to my VOIP provider. While I don't see using this software often as a consumer, I love knowing the tool is available to me when I might need it in the future. This is SO MUCH better than the old plotting tools I was using.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

I didn't understand how to "change versions" to start my trial and it wasn't obvious on their website how to get the least expensive version for a consumer.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Poor VOIP call quality

 ### 9. Easy for entry level users with enough detail to satisfy professionals.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** livingston h. | Retired, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2021

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Clear graphical interface that makes it easy to spot errors and trends. Being able to have multiple trackers running lets you quickly find the problems. Also, the user tips and tricks get you to the source of your networking problem quickly, in a shareable format that can easily prove your point to ISPs and others. The detailed traceroute graphics also let you see the problems along your data path. The FAQ and manual are very thorough.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Nothing much wrong here, but there is so much detail presented in the graphic display that you must read the background to understand some of the key items presented. Having a newbie mode with more live hover callouts explaining functions would make a faster learning curve. Maybe a staged user competence score would be a good reward incentive.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using PingPlotter proved that our internet connectivty problems were well upstream. ISP's script based fixing steps were costly for them in replacing basically everything at the user end before taking a good look inside their local facility and then further upstream, where a solution was found. In all fairness, the problem did take some time to locate, but meanwhile we had to add service from another ISP to stay online for work.

 ### 10. Great app. A lightweight gut-check for dianosing your network performance over time.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2022

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Super-lightweight. Not overbearing or technical.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Minor observation that isn't a deal-breaker. Sometimes accessing Sidekick and the Pingplotter Pro can get confusing at first.

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

Simple, light-weight, digestible interface and information that won't break the bank.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous monitoring of network performance from spikes in ping or packet loss.

 ### 11. PingPlotter for Proof

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

I enjoyed using PingPlotter as I have been in a multiple month battle with my ISP who claims that my internet connection has no problems. I was able to use PingPlotter and so them proof that my internet was having issues thus making them actually take a look instead of blaming my hardware.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Nothing, it worked pretty great for me. A small learning curve but not much.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ISP service provider Node was overloaded as I was able to use PingPlotter to help prove it.

 ### 12. PingPloter Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thatayaone M. | Network Consulting Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2020

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

It is lightweight
Performs latency monitoring
Easy to install and setup
It has a free version which gives access to all the features the software offers
performs traceroute

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Improvements can be made to the GUI so that the graphs look a bit more professional.
The trial version is only 14 days, which is a bit short

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

This is a great software to have especial when you have different teams looking after your network, it makes it easy for the network team and other teams like the servers team to see where do they have latency issues on their network

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To figure out where do you have latency issues on your network can be difficult and this software makes it easy to spot out latency issues on your network in a graphical manner which makes it easy to produce reports that can be shared with the team or management. Graphs are easy to understand, even a non-technical person can understand them.

 ### 13. Very useful, beyond my expectations!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2020

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Easy to use interface and understandable trace results.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Nothing so far, and I started on the free version!

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PingPlotter is straightforward to use, intuitive to understand and provides very useful information. I was advised by my internet provider to replace my old cable modem in my local network (LAN). I decided to try PP so I’d be able to tell if my performance improved. Little did I know that it would help with this PLUS offering other useful tools insights! I am not an IT expert; just a detail-oriented person who want to learn more and understand how my network is working. I was still able to use PP effectively. The online users guide is comprehensive and readable, so I got started quickly. The trace displays can be easily modified to focus in on specific time intervals when something weird seems to be happening AND to stand back an see overall average performance. Most importantly for me, PP lets me study my network performance, identifying all the devices and how they are working – especially how a wireless router or the cable modem is doing, in comparison to the other “hops” that are outside my LAN and thus mostly outside my control. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the PP Tech Support team was responsive, prompt, and very helpful. I had a lot of questions, since I was starting from near novice level. Their team answered my detailed questions in a sequence of emails, from providing basic background on how networks should be connected up to advanced analysis of my setup including specific trace run results that I didn’t understand. I recommend PP with pleasure and no reservations.

 ### 14. The only way to get my ISP's attention

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2020

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

User interface is great. Very intuitive to use. Being able to monitor over a long period of time is incredibly helpful when trying to spot patterns and address issues with your ISP. Support site has a great deal of helpful tutorials and guidance.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

There really isn't much (if anything) to dislike.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am working from home currently and PingPlotter helped me by providing hard data to present to my ISP to address packet loss and latency issues. As soon as I presented this data to the ISP, I was taken seriously and saw improvement.

 ### 15. Easy to get info to the folks who know what it means

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

My isp recommended it to collect the info they needed and it did that well.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Don't think you can set a time limit for a test.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

poor 5g connectivity

 ### 16. PingPlotter For a Satellite Connection

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill M. | Unpaid Personal Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

The great feature of PingPlotter is the ability to see the hops from sorce to server, on a Satellite connection being able to see the amount of latency which is there becomes useful in diagnosing problems. Packets dropped by a particular Hop is also a good insight into what is going down.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

I would like to see a greater ability to alert me when a duration or frequency of packet loss occurs, either weather or useage of the signal compromises my connection and pinpointing when is useful for talking to my provider.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connection failure due to weather, equipment or useage

 ### 17. Supervisor of links with extended ping

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ANDRES F. | I am sure to surf the internet and what fortinet does in a group with the unified management of threats, the safe life for me, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

PingPlotter emerges as monitoring software for our company since we do not have a tool that would at least give us exact samples of the affected links that we have in our main office. PingPlotter is the most traditional tool that we have managed, thanks to the summation of links such as the internet and links of virtual private networks we have a more specific control, this helps us to have a history of 60 seconds up to 7 days as maximum verification of the status of the supervised link. Additional you can verify this link in intervals of time of seconds to maximum 1 hour, to check the frequency of monitoring

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Despite the few functions such as monitoring software is a very important tool to ensure that our links and the quality of service to the company remain without problem

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

I totally recommend the tool as a monitoring software to any link that you want to manage and demonstrate the quality of service. We do not underestimate the management, because it fulfills an important factor of superviction

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With PingPlotter we can make known how we do every day, a detail of each link that we are monitoring, for it we highlight that each link is always active, if a link is down and we have an alternate we can make the change instantly and we maintain active service

 ### 18. My Pinplotter experience.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santiago R. | Network administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Pingplotter is a tool that helps us to manage the states of data links. 'Pingplotter works adding the IP address that we want to monitor to have the graphs of the states, in our company we manage a large group of cleintes that have dedicated data links and I need a software to have a monitor to know the states of the links, for This pingplotter task is a tool that helps me to be aware of data links.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

One of the weaknesses of Pingplotter is that it does not provide more information of the equipment, also when we have the software installed in windows server, it has failures, stopping services, this failure does not happen when it is detected in a Linux operating system, the program runs without problem and does not cause conflicts at the beginning.

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

Add the links plus evaluation data to carry out more feasibility studies of data links.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us in having monitored the branches to have monitored the services if they are down and have a base when they have to replicate against the suppliers.

 ### 19. PingPlotter Pro is an excellent tool for tracking and isolating network issues

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill L. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

The tool has an easy to use interface and I can see all PING sessions at once. This allows me to trace all along the path to the provider or to the system with an issue and validate there is no loss or issue on the network. if there is it provides details of where the issue is occurring.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

It is a little expensive for what it does but it does do it very well.

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

Try it before you buy it, it will win you over

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VOIP issue with carrier and we used PingPlotter Pro to isolate the delay and issue to a specific device on the carrier network. The carrier was then able to schedule a reboot and the issue was resolve. It saved a lot of time discussing with the carrier and them saying there was no issue.

 ### 20. Latency viewer and lost packets of a link.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel H. | Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

PingPlotter is a great visual tool that shows graphically the latency and lost packet that has had a link (data or Internet). Not only shows the above indicated but also shows the jumps or trace made from the server to its destination observing at each point the milliseconds that it takes to send and receive the response as latency.

This monitoring software helps in seeing what problem a network device has, by simply indicating the IP address or the DNS name, it sends ICMP packets from the interface that is configured for that reason and in less than 1 minute an interface is generated where You can see latency by colors (green, yellow and red), packet loss represented by red lines, milliseconds of jittler. If there is latency or packet loss in any device within your network means that you have a problem in the middle (wired) or there is a saturation in your trunk link.

The tool is light, easy to install and configure. It offers alarms that you can customize when a link falls or rises, in addition to recording such falls in a plain text file.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

As for its operation is exceptional however I do not find much documentation of the alarms and their parameters, or rather if there is documentation but not examples...

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the monitoring of the links we can notify and alarm our service provider when a regional office is disconnected or has a large presence in the link.

 ### 27. Effective and powerful software to determine the source of problem indeed.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalia B. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2018

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

The most appreciable thing about this software is that it is quick and easy for everyone that is used in a best way to monitor network, to write scripts, remote deployment as well as web interface. One can get accurate and clear graphical information through this software. The other thing is that rarely network issues occur. ### 28. Great software for monitoring IPs at a glace

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Packaging and Containers | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2019

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Really fast, and you can import a list of what to be able to watch. Save lists and then you can rapidly change from monitoring one set to another without having to retype in IPs or names. Not 100% accurate, but it does a good job of monitoring 'at a glance' of what is going on. And its perfect for overnight or monitoring while you are doing other things.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

Wish that you could set the option to always resolve a host name when it monitors by IP address. Having to right click each one to get the 'resolve hostname' is a bit of a pain when you are monitoring say a /22 full of equipment for packetloss.

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

Fix the resolve hostname so that you can set it to do that automatically. Also, the alerting seems a bit wonky, it works but it just seems like it was an afterthought.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick way to monitor devices for packet loss and response time. The importing of lists, and the built in graphs are great. And the alerting works very well once you get your head wrapped around the way it works.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2018

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

I liked that it has a service mode that can record data even when the GUI isn't running.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

I wish the TCP configuration was automatic but it was quite simple once I read the directions.
I also wish it had a capability to visually display the traceroute on top of a world map.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We installed PingPlotter to help diagnose intermittent connectivity problems from geographically distributed lab sites to our AWS-hosted website. PingPlotter helped us demonstrate clearly and visually when there were problems. We chose it specifically for a capability not found in many similar lightweight tools in that it allows measuring connectivity to a specific TCP port whereas many programs only allows to measure regular ping, i.e. ICMP packets.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josiah K. | Network Operations Specialist, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2016

**What do you like best about PingPlotter?**

Ping Plotter allows me to very simply verify connectivity. or i can watch my equipment be unreachable. A lot of the time i can watch a device go up and down over 24 hours (it can do more, but thats generally all i get to)

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

As of right now, there is nothing i dislike

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

If you are managing remote locations over the internet, this is a great troubleshooting tool. it allows you to establish where to start troubleshooting. If you can't reach your remote location, check the wiring, then check the internet connection. If you can get there but something in the remote office is not working check your equipment.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company(ISP) has equipment outside of our network. when they are having issues ping plotter is my first go to program. I can tell if another ISP or passthrough is having issues. This at times prompts me to make a route change, while other times its a call to that ISP to start a ticket. Ping Plotter has saved us many hours of troubleshooting and also allows us to show another ISP that the issues is theirs.

We needed to be able to ping and trace all in one step, which this accomplishes.

 ### 46. PingPlotter helped me prove my case with our carrier

You can download the free version and get enough data to prove to your telco that latency, packet loss, echo, jitter, etc., is not all in your own mind.

**What do you dislike about PingPlotter?**

I want it to be free with all the cool features it comes with. I haven't used it enough to have a dislike, honestly.

**Recommendations to others considering PingPlotter:**

It's an awesomely simple network monitoring tool.. even AT&T uses it. At least, the Tier 3 tech did.

**What problems is PingPlotter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VOIP latency, network slowness, dropped connections
