The module has included an option for most of the webservers I have used to date, and the ease of installing, configuring, and getting started is something I liked about it. Digging into further details the performance of web servers combined with Phusion passenger has been brilliant. Most of the cloud-based SAAS tools I manage are built with scripting languages, and the web servers are Nginx or Apache. I usually go with Phusion Passenger and have been using this module for over a decade. The technologies are getting updated and I did not face any issues with the Phusion passenger. It is a well-maintained module. Never has issues with security, reliability, and scalability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Phusion Passenger? Haven't used this with the latest app servers, and sometimes the errors are encountered during installation and configuration with app environments. In some instances where I would wish to include this module in both Nginx & Apache, there were some issues on the server-side. In case of changing the web server, there isn't a way to uninstall the passenger module. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Phusion Passenger: If you are building an application using technologies like Ruby on Rails etc, Phusion Passenger would be the best app server to have with the best support for both Apache & Nginx Servers. Installation, configuration, and maintaining this with your web servers would be very easy, I have used this on most Linux servers based on Ubuntu, CentOS and it works like a charm. Problems solved: Getting my webservers to work with various app environments with Phusion Passenger For most of the applications I have hosted on cloud servers no matter front end and backend, I could easily configure Phusion passenger with Nginx and Apache to serve Benefits: Ease of managing the environment Scaling the server was easy with Phusion Passenger in place Log tracing on the webserver was detailed for a developer who uses this. For me it's best that it has Nginx integrations. \* No extra settings and maintenance required specially for Phusion Passenger. \* It's free to use with Nginx, only extended feature requires pro / paid versions. \* It's highly scalable \* It is based on Out-of-process architecture that is really great for Rails applications. \* It's also having integrations with apache. \* It is having Asynchronous I/O, it helps to increase speed. \* Very low bandwidth required for Phusion Passenger Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. In early days we were using Unicorn for our Rails applications, We found memory leaks and other issues with it, Then shifted to puma, Puma is a good server but still was facing a lot of issues like, High memory and have to manage service separately for puma. As Traffic goes higher, finally we shifted to Phusion Passenger, It's save our life, now we have lesser memory and high throughput. We don't have to manage separate service for Phusion Passenger.
