I do not own a copy of the software myself, but use online resources provided to me by various translation agencies. I have had experience using CAT engines before, but was impressed by how simple and intuitive Phrase TMS is. I have never had a problem with the software, which is not something I can say about other CAT software. I didn't need to install anything, I just use a browser with a username and password provided by the agencies. Everything I need is in the software, though I am sure there are a lot of other tools and features that I do not know about. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** There are few things I dislike about Phrase TMS. Because I only use the web browser version, I'm sure there are more features that may be included that I do not even know about. TM and TB are functioning so well, it is very easy to implement changes in new segments. Works well with slower connection speeds as well, as long as the connection is stable. - Performance: Phrase performs very well in most aspects, even with large projects. There are some limitations with batch tasks - however, I have found Phrase to perform better than most tools I have used in the past - Intuitive project management: Managing project resources as well as participating linguists is very straightforward and just works without a huge hassle. - Continuos development and improvement: This is my favorite thing about Phrase - they are constantly working on making it better. The classic CAT tools out there feel like they have been cluttered with mostly useless, highly specialized features for decades without addressing some of the major QoL issues that many people have been complaining about. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** I would appreciate if Phrase introduced compatibility with Trados project packages - when receiving one of those, which still happens frequently, using Phrase is not an efficient option. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** - No need for high-end hardware - you can easily work on the go without being afraid of your laptop blowing up from the massive CPU load of e.g. Trados. You can only see numbers in the bottom left corner, but you can't create your own analysis to track your weighted progress. The other important thing is QA. It is certainly lighter and quicker than the industry leading CAT tools. It might not have the same amount of features, but for most purposes, it's all you need and it's much more intuitive to use. I have been using Memsource for several years and the platform is very stable. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** After the merger between Phrase and Memsource, there were some technical problems coming out of the sky. However, these were quickly solved. Phrase meets all my needs, and its user interface is very modern and appealing. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** Since the redesign, some features have been move, which requires some getting used to. I miss the "Hide ignored" button, since this makes the QA more tedious. I also miss the red cross at the end of the strings that are not confirmed, since this made it easy to spot the unconfirmed segments. Unlike other CAT tools available on the market, it doesn't demand too many resources from your computer. It's easy to use and all my clients also seem to be quite satisfied with it as well, proofreading/review tools work like a charm as well. I've been using it for the past couple of years and really got nothing to complain about it, and it seems like the industry is adopting it widely as well. I've been working on Phrase at least once a week with one of my clients and it's been a delight! It combines speed with acceptable UI/UX (which in the case of online tools is RARE), as well as convenient access to most resources typically used during translation. I don't have any choice as far as frequency of use is concerned but when I have to choose between customers, I will always choose the one using Phrase. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** There are two things missing that are present in the known competitors' products and could still be upgraded: - e-mail notifications about comments: I'm also working in one of the competitors' products and that GREATLY enhances the speed of communication; - the layout enabling to see more actual content from TM, glossary and comments at once: I understand that there is not much space but still the main factor why I'm using offline Trados at all is that I can see more (and MORE OF) different sources AT ONCE, without any clicking, scrolling etc. in comparison to any online tool. The ability to download the source files is also very useful when the client "forget" this on the briefing. When I put my project manager hat on, I love the flexibility to give the translator access only for a specific project so they can't be messing around with the files once delivered. The new interface since the integration between Memsource and Phrase also is cleaner and more intuitive. **What do you dislike about Phrase?** For the future, I would like to see more stability when browsing and previewing large documents, which sometimes take a while to load. The capability to automatically complete and confirm the repeated segments and having quick access to the logs of each segment modified would also be very useful. In addition, the tags should be more flexible to adapt to the needs of different languages, as it is often difficult to keep the same order or spaces in the tags when transcreating the text. **What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Phrase allows me to easily manage my translation projects and avoid the hassles associated with working on offline documents. Its TM and Q&A functions also improve the quality and consistency of the work delivered. Among the translation tools I use regularly, Phrase is in the Top 3.
