  ### 1. Some minor changes on the platform

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

In the Q&A section more functions had disappeared, so the overview is now simpler and I could save time. The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform (I do not know if this is good or bad yet.) NextMT appeared on the platform but I do not use it (I use Google engine), so I have no experience with it. Other than that, there weren't many new things in the system for me.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform. We have lots of MT segments and the system is often unable to pull in the desired terms from the termbase list, so they must be manually click and insert into the target language field. (At the first time we thought that the engineers did not attach the termbase excel at all.) In the Q&A section more functions had disappeared which could be a good thing, but I do not have enough experience with that yet.

Large files can be translated much faster, making my work easier. Teachable platform, which is also makes my work easier and faster.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

The UI is very friendly and easy to use, even for beginners or for new translators who are just getting started. Its support is also quite good, and even with their new AI support system I have to say that it works better than expected.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

When working on bigger files, the CAT web editor lags quite a lot when trying to lock/filter segments and makes my work as a PM a bit more delicate.

The one thing that is really making me doubt more its uses is the lack of integrations with CMS or PIm software. A lot of our clients need this type of integrations and Phrase is lacking a few useful ones.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Templates are very useful I must say. Being able to import/export the TB and work with different types of files is also very handy so we don't have to process a lot of documents prior to translation.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I like the intuitive use of complex functions in Phrase Localization Platform. I can split a file and assign it to multiple people for translation, as well as assign different roles such as translation, review, and final control. The platform also allows effective management of the translation memory and terminology database, ensuring cohesion of the final text without formatting issues.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

I don't like price increases. Every year they raise it or create new plans to remove features if one chooses to pay more or less the same. Also, it would be good to have a price based on geographic location because Latin America is not the same as Europe. I would also explore integration with Google Drive but I don't know if it's still available with my plan and generally the other tools I use are not integrated.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Phrase Localization Platform helps me with project assignment, translation memory management, and cohesive unity of the final text without formatting issues. It is intuitive when using complex functions like splitting files and assigning roles for translation, review, and control.

I like that Phrase is user-friendly and easy to use. The pricing is also appealing to me since it offers a lot of features that are usually found in more expensive options. I appreciate how it allows me to manage my projects easily and follow up with my fellow translators.

Sometimes, it is difficult for Phrase to open or crack formats such as PDF.

I think one of the biggest advantages of Phrase is the management of projects, termbases, translation memories and other related materials. With all the structures and user-friendly interface in place, one can focus solely on good-quality, consistent translation.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

Extended response time in bigger translation jobs, very poor standalone Phrase desktop app, and price increases.

It solves the matter of managing huge termbases and pretranslating documents - the latter of which is done thanks to an integration of AI translation engines.

The ability to produce and unify glossaries. Find and replace options.

Not integrate the preview mode by default, as it crashes the software on larger files with many strings.

Doing away with the lack of context by inserting a preview function. Easy to integrate several file formats into one project at a time.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I like that the Phrase Localization Platform is intuitive to use both for me and our translators. It's valuable because it minimizes friction and ensures that translators aren't discouraged by a poor design. For me, it's easy to learn and makes onboarding new team members quick. I appreciate that it's cloud-based and offers workflow automation, like passing projects from translator to editor, saving us manual work. There are no limits on the number of translators, which means we aren't restricted by the number of licenses as with Trados or memoQ. The initial setup was super easy.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

There's no way to 'preview' how a file is processed before sending it to the platform, which uses the word count volume allocated to our account. This is especially tricky with more complex files, like Shopify CSV exports or JSON files. With large volumes, this can quickly mean the allocated word count is gone without us doing a single project. We're also missing some QC features, like ignoring segments that are the same as the source when that is the exact content of a TB entry.

It saves us time with cloud-based workflow automation, eliminating manual project transfers. It also supports translators without CAT tools.

I continue to appreciate that the platform does not affect my computer's storage space.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

I wish I could accept or deny new functions, layouts, and features introduced. Most recently there has been the addition of pop-ups for when I have completed my translation to direct me to run the QA and then once that is complete to mark the job as completed. They are more of a nuisance than any kind of help.

I am able to access anywhere and it does not use up hard drive space on my computer.

The search function seems to work quite well. It locates results as long as the relevant keywords are included, even if they aren't right next to each other. In that regard, it's a bit more convenient than memoQ.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

So far, I don't have any specific complaints.

I  can work with other people; when there have TB and TM, I can read references and work more quickly. I can see all the jobs and projects here. And when I finish the work, I can Complete it.

  ### 11. Translation efficiency improvement, but there is an issue of original text loss.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

It's useful for translating large volumes. After translating into the target language, there's no need for separate document editing. I really like that when exporting after translation, it follows the original document's formatting exactly. It's also great that when translating tables or diagrams, you can check in the preview if the target text fits well into shapes, etc. It's convenient to be able to adjust the text appropriately while checking the status through the preview.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

There was an issue where some text was lost in the document containing diagrams. Therefore, I had to check every time to ensure that no translation content was missing. Also, it would be nice to have a feature to hide tags that often get in the way in the editor. The menu had many options like TMS, Strings, Orchestrator, which was a bit confusing.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is useful for translating large volumes and requires no document editing after translation. When exporting after translation, it follows the original document's formatting exactly. When translating tables or diagrams, you can easily check and adjust the text position through a preview.

My opinion remains largely unchanged. Phrase offers industry standard commands and handling and anyone with a minimum of experience in CAT tools will adapt to it easily.

Still waiting for an easy, convenient way to join smaller files into a big large file to facilitate global reviews and search and replace.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

It allowed us to move from a completely antiquated workflow for translation and term management to use a collaborative tool than many roles within the company can use. This also meant that we could get "non technical" people involved in the process, which allowed Product Management to better work together and keep the workload transparent. It is now a tool we use daily. It also took minimal time to set up and get started, which was why we tried it in the first place.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

Probably because of the complexity of what the tool can do, automate and configure finding your way into using the software comes with a bit of a learning curve. To pick out one example, when the list of keys (in Phrase Strings) on the right side of the screen is filtered, you don't easily see that which can lead to the user thinking a key is not there, when in fact it is just hidden from view. In general, a "decluttering" of the UI for what you need for daily use of the tool would be appreciated in all areas of the product.

We have multiple translators contributing to the localization and previously had no tool for transparent collaboration. This has completely changed since we introduced Phrase.

A tiny update that is ridiculously helpful: notify linguists via email when we tag them in the comments. It was a long awaited function that kills repetitive manual tasks.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

Can't think of anything in the moment. Bugs are fixed relatively quickly and improvements are iterated regularly.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Phrase Strings for all localization for our app. It benefits the company because it is functional. It lacks translation management tools in regards to the administrative side with freelance translators.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

Very advanced automation features, specifically the APC that lets me connect to the FTP server and scans it periodically which saves a hours every day when creating projects, analyses and delivery.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The platform is not very stable - there are various features that periodically stop working, for example the "Quotes" tab in Phrase analytics, there are notification blackouts several times a year, new features and UI updates are sometimes added without being mentioned in Release notes and so on.

We saved a lot of time not having to create projects manually each time.

I find the ability to maintain different languages really useful with Phrase Localization Platform. It helps localize our hearing test app effectively. Another feature I appreciate is the integration with Figma. As a designer, I can update Phrase directly through Figma, the platform I work with, which makes the process more seamless.

It's a little pricy

I use the Phrase Localization Platform for localizing our hearing test app. It helps us maintain different languages, and as a designer, I can update Phrase through Figma, making it easier to work within my platform.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I like the updated UI + a few new features like being able to process HTML code without having to use regexes. 

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The server is still very slow. Projects can take a while to load, even when the files are small. I know I am not the only one who noticed this - all PMs on the team see that Phrase has become much slower. 

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform features a variety of tools (term bases, translation memories, LQA) that help our translators stay consistent in their output, especially when working on extensive projects. 
Another feature that I enjoy is allowing third-party reviewers (like subject matter experts from the requesting party) join the validation process by inviting them to work in Phrase.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I mostly use web version of Phrase TMS. The best thing is UI, it is easier to use comparing to many other CATs.
Communication with Customer Support was also a very pleasant experience.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

I would like to have more opportunities for customization: enabling/disabling notifications, configuring hotkeys etc.
QA features could be better, but mostly its okay.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I usually work as translator/editor on videogames localization projects. Phrase is easy-to-use comparing to other CATs

- Pretty expensive considering there is no desktop CAT tool included.
- Usage of customized XLIFF format makes it impossible to edit files in other CAT tools.

Well for me the downsides of this tool called Phrase is because every work that I finish in case I do something wrong I wont be able to go back and fix it, I would like a small feature that can tell me like "Are you sre to complete this work and close your access to Phrase once completed" something like.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

In our company, we made a great qualitative leap by starting to use Phrase Strings. It has allowed us to optimize the multilingual management of our product, and we use it daily. A great improvement compared to how we managed it previously. It is an intuitive tool for daily work with many possibilities yet to be explored.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The implementation has been lengthy as we had to adapt our code to Phrase, and we still feel that there is much room for improvement in certain details for daily use (filters, integrations, the terminological base, connection between projects, improvement of analytics), but even so, in our daily work, it is more than sufficient.

However, we believe that the price is quite high, it is not cheap.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We started with a very archaic management of multilingual translations. It took us a lot of time to keep the translations of our product updated and it was very costly. Now we have optimized this process thanks to Phrase and its management is much more manageable. It has also allowed us to unify terms and translations by having a more global vision.

This is about TMS: 
The user-friendly UI especially for the linguists. They are able to start quickly using the software without the need of understanding the whole complexity behind.

This is about TMS: 
- To keep the overview as Project Manager is not that perfect. I like the "Jobs" section to get a good overview, but still some features are missing there, so you need to switch quite often to the "Projects" section. The "Projects" section is not very user-friendly.
- I am missing a lot a global search within TMS. F. ex. if you want to check, where a term has been used and translated (in different projects and/or jobs) it a nightmare, because there is no global search available.

I have been using Phrase for MTPE and Editing procedures on translation company accounts. By having to click every sentence, it helps go over thoroughly when performing proofreading.

There are too many unnecessary checkpoints on QC. For example, there are many instances the ending punctuation differ into other languages. These have to be checked every time, and there are too many redundant checkpoints when performing QC.

It costs me nothing, includes a sufficient QA tool within itself, recommends machine translations only as options (not so strongly, not as NO.1 options), and has no bugs in essential and frequently used functions.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

1.	In QA, dates and numbers (in terms of differences in unit like million and billion) translated from Japanese to English and vice versa are always picked up as errors. It requires certain amounts of time and attention to make sure in QA that these are not errors. Phrase would be better if it includes such typical conversion in QA.
2. Phrase on the translation company side is kind of a black box. I have no need to worry about that but that is not very comfortable. They may stop using Phrase at their discretion. In addition, as I have no idea what are happening on their side, I am not in the position to recommend Phrase to a company who does not use it. (I am not sure but high user review scores may help companies to continue or start using it.).

Work efficiency improved by features such as a bilingual view, translation and term options provided alongside, instant translation preview, a sufficient QA function, and easy on-line delivery to clients.

Once you know how it works, it's easy to use. There's a handy side bar for QA  which lists possible mistakes.

Initially I didn't know exactly how it worked, i.e. first accept the task, greenlight each segment and run a QA to double-check you haven't overlooked anything. But once you know how it works, it's very easy to use.

It's quite user friendly and allows us to use different MT engines. Also the fact that different LSPs can work on the same project just by sharing the token.

When importing Excel files, it's not easy to select specific cells, it's seems one can only choose columns.
It would also be nice to be able to select the number of files one can see per page on a project.
It would also be good if the words we don't spend during an invoicing period, be it processed or MTUs, could be translaported into the next invoicing period.

It's our preferred CAT tool at the moment and it solves the issue of having both projects with and without MT just by allowing us to select Disable/Enable MT engines.

I find it difficult to find visual guidance. Of course there are tons of detailed articles about each process and how to use them. But I am more of a visual person, would like to see demos with screenshots or even videos.

We need to translate a full website within a week. There are dozens of pages and we need multiple languages. Phrase can easily grab everything, import to the platform, and after the translation is done, we can just export the pages within a few clicks.

It's really hard to change subscriptions and buying additional volumes of MTUs is very expensive.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I greatly appreciate the program interface, which is intuitive and easy to use, even for beginners. The interface is also visually pleasant, and the possibility of using a dark mode is a really useful feature, as it does not put as much strain on the eyes as a light interface would - this feature is often overlooked in many CAT tools! With Phrase Localization Platform I can easily keep track of my progress and smoothly manage different projects, even the larger ones. As a freelance translator, I use it mostly for translation, but I find the whole system very useful for project management, translation memories and glossary creation and management. I have used it also as a part of a volunteer community, and I particularly appreciate the collaborative features. Lastly, the customer and technical service is excellent, I have always solved any issues within a couple of hours.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

For a freelance translator, it is a bit too expensive and I would like a cheaper option, as some projects do not require the use of a CAT tool and sometimes I do not use it for extensive periods. Also, I understand that the website is aimed at different countries, but seeing the prices before VAT is a bit misleading for the buyer, as once you get to the payment page the price suddenly changes. Other than that, I did not encounter any other issues.

I needed a product to assist me with management, terminology and translation memory creation and actual translation of different projects, from a freelancer perspective. Phrase does all that, it is easy to use and helps me in simplifying my workflow, while also offering a pleasant interface and experience.

I love that Phrase is so very user-friendly, simple to navigate and usually fast. All the information translator needs is right there without much need to switch through various windows or tabs.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The biggest downside is the terminology management. It's not built for multi-term entries. Most complex TBs are concept-based meaning that a concept has an entry with various possible variants, e.g. acronyms, abbreviations, short forms, etc. Phrase does not support this. Displaying multi-term entries is painful and it does not match the terms within entry correctly. Metadata for terminology entries are also very limited. Many client require multiple metadata which are not supported and cannot be easily mapped in Phrase. 

Also, Phrase can be quite laggy with large files but I guess that's expected.

It helps that it's an online tool so multiple linguists can work on it with TM being updated live.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

There are a number of positive features about Phrase, and I use it as my primary CAT tool. 

It works well across platforms (I have used both native clients for Mac and Windows as well as the web-based client).

It is very fast. I can translate very large files (consisting of tens of thousands of words, sometimes even more than 100,000 words across several documents that are joined as a single Phrase XLIFF file), and the native client does not hang when scrolling through the document or uploading work back to the server. The filters at the top of the source and target columns in the editor screen work lightning fast in drilling down and finding segments of interest. By contrast, some other CAT tools, like Trados Studio, can become almost unusable when confronted with large files. In fact, since Phrase offers pretty good support for translating Trados documents (SDLXLIFF files), I now prefer to translate them in Phrase and then import them into Studio to do the final segment confirmation and QA checks and export the Trados return package.

Phrase's QA checks are pretty good at catching translation inconsistencies, missing numbers, missing tags and other formatting, as well as missing terminology when using a term base.

The customer support is very fast. I often get a reply to my emails within 10 minutes.

Platform reliability and uptime are very good. In last several years, there may have only been a couple of times when the platform was unavailable or I was unable to create or manage a project in the web interface (TMS). I work most days as a full-time translator, so I am a frequent user.

The native client does not consume a lot of energy when running on my laptop in battery mode. By contrast, MemoQ and Trados Studio can run down my battery much more quickly.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The QA check is not as good at detecting spelling errors. This may have something to do with the spellcheck engine that is being used, and there may be room for improvement here (at least for US English, which is the target language I translate into). I always perform final spell checks for the exported files in Word.

There is no robust search feature in the TMS web interface, nor is there a dashboard that could give me information about my work and business. For example, I label projects by client, and it might be interesting to see how many projects I received over a certain period of time. Of course, these features go beyond perhaps what is necessary for a CAT tool, and I can track this information elsewhere or using other tools. But it would be nice to have this analysis inside the tool, since I do so much of my work in Phrase.

The native client does not support working in offline mode. This would be convenient when traveling without a WiFi connection, for example. You can fill in segments and try uploading them when you reconnect to a network, but you risk losing your work if the editor crashes or you close the program by mistake.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the tool as the primary CAT tool for my freelance translation business. I not only actively use it to translate source files from clients who give me the freedom to choose my own CAT tool, but also for agencies that prescribe the use of Trados Studio since Phrase has excellent support for SDLXLIFF files.

What I like most about Phrase Localization Platform is its ability to simplify and optimize the localization process. The most useful feature at this time for localization is the multiple file types that you can choose and how you can customize the options.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

As for the most useful feature I mentioned, I think it could be better if you add more examples to understand what some of the file customization fields are for, many of them give examples that are not understandable for most of the translators or it is not clear how to fill those fields, for example in the “Phrase tags”.

**What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Phrase solve our problems when we have some projects with complicated file types like .xml, the multiple options for customizing the settings make it possible to translate files that are not possible on other platforms.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

We used Crowdin before which seems outdated in terms of the interface and its non intuitive navigation, so when we switched to Phrase I liked the platform UX and it seemed to be less complicated than the previous tool.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The fact that I can't send my title tags, slugs nor meta descriptions for translation using the Webflow connector app. I confirmed it with your support and therefore, needed to find a workaround for that. However, it was annoying at the time.

Enabling consistent translations across all our projects, so we can be sure that the repetitive things are retrieved from translation memory.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

I like the fact that Phrase is focused on the user's needs, i.e. the platform offers the essential CAT tool functions (fuzzy matches, repetitions, quick search between different segments,  dual concordance search, for example). I use other CAT tools that offer hundreds of functions that I don't use all the time and which, in my opinion, are more confusing than anything else. I'm pleased that you've recently translated the platform into my language (French) and that a dark display exists. I also like the fact that I can download the word count logs uploaded by the PMs I work for as well as the references for each job. I've also dealt with your customer service department, which quickly helped me to solve a problem that was blocking my work. I like to see the percentage of progress when I'm working.

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

I don't like the fact that although I've put Phrase in my favourites bar, every day I have to reconnect to it when I'm getting ready to use it. I'd like to land on my dashboard straight away. I've already tried to fix this but I can't. I'd like to have more room to see the fuzzy matches. I'm often juggling between displaying the different proposals and the comparison between the source texts. I'd also like you to improve your handling of non-breaking spaces, because I often get the impression that Phrase doesn't take them into account. I replace them as I go along in the segments before coming back to them at the end of the translation and seeing that Phrase picks them up again.

Phrase allows me to translate faster, thanks to the translation machine, but also more consistently, because the platform is based on memories of previous translations.

**What do you like best about Phrase?**

The documentation for setting up and installing was straightforward and easy to follow. The project folder structuring keeps things neat. The Support team are usually able to help out with our enquiries (though it does take a pretty long time to receive a response).

**What do you dislike about Phrase?**

The changes to the Phrase platform UI isn't the best, the old UI was clearer and easier to find things, nowadays a lot of the features feel very hidden and unclear. We regularly run into formatting issues during exports of languages that we need to correct. Words like 'yes' and 'no' turning into boolean values ('true/false') within Phrase UI causes total confusion with our translators which again requires more manual correction from a developer. It's frustrating that during GitHub sync imports (which we use for our base language, English) that deletions aren't accounted for, so we have to manually go into Phrase every time to delete keys.

It's a tool we can use to manage multiple languages and allows our translators/agencies to provide translations that we can export into our codebase/website/apps.

Search within the files. Opening of multiple files in one view. Work in desktop module.

Target language filter of files in checkbox only option ios too time consuming. Return it back to radio buttons or give option to user to select one or more (same as  in Excel Pivot  tables).
Opening of multiple files in one round is offering just limited number of files. It would be good to have option to open all.
Online module is quite slow for real work. Desktop module is perfect.

Nothing specific to report here. Just standard daily localization work.
