Phrase successfully separates strings and their translations, with easy management of the multiple languages required. We use it daily for new or updated translations. Customer support was agile and assertive when I needed to recover some translations I had mistakenly deleted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Phrase? The interface for translators could benefit from better approaches. There is no way to batch upload screenshots to contextualize translators better. I'm not sure if there is a way to integrate Figma for this. What problems is Phrase solving and how is that benefiting you? Phrase removed the AI translation suggestions for our plan. For me, not having at least a small amount of it and showing how an upgrade for this could have benefits, the platform won't have the workers asking for the upgrade. Phrase Localization Platform is a comprehensive localization solution that provides a wide range of tools and features. I appreciate its CAT Editor, which is straightforward enough to enable productive and efficient translation, while still offering all the functionalities translators require. Additionally, I find the Phrase TMS product to be an effective platform for managing translation projects. I do appreciate the customer support team which usually react quite fast and try to help. While it might appear appealing to have all components of the platform—such as TMS, Strings, and Orchestrator—bundled together under a single subscription, this approach does not really benefit small LSPs or individual freelance translators. Additionally, the volume-based pricing structure is not favorable for clients, as it forces them to reconsider their workflows in order to minimize the number of words or characters and stay within the set volume limits. Well, after uploading the file with the sentences to translate, I have no way of knowing when the pre-translation has finished being processed. And what happens is that after uploading a file, when I download the pre-translations, sometimes there are still some left to be generated and I'm missing them. As a project manager, settings quickly get complex for shorter project. What do you dislike about Phrase? While Phrase excels in usability and customer support, its pricing structure is a major drawback, particularly for language service providers (LSPs). The model based on processed words lacks flexibility, making budgeting and project management unnecessarily difficult. In the translation industry, workload fluctuates—some months are high-volume, while others are significantly lower—yet unused words do not carry over. This results in paying for words that aren’t utilized, which is a major frustration shared across the LSP community. Despite its strong features and ease of integration, this pricing approach creates inconsistencies in cost-effectiveness, making it difficult for businesses with variable workloads to fully optimize their investment. As I translate from several languages to Finnish, the AI properties that have made the product very much more expensive, do really not help much.
