## About PhpStorm
PhpStorm is a PHP integrated development environment (IDE) developed by JetBrains that provides tools for writing, analyzing, testing, and debugging PHP applications. It is designed for professional PHP developers, full-stack web developers, and software teams building server-side and web-based applications. Common use cases include developing PHP web applications, maintaining legacy systems, working with modern JavaScript frameworks, integrating databases, and managing large or multi-module codebases. PhpStorm supports the PHP development lifecycle within a single environment. It includes context-aware coding assistance, project navigation tools, refactoring capabilities, debugging functionality, and integrations with version control systems and testing frameworks. The IDE runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, providing a consistent development environment across platforms. Key features and capabilities include: • Intelligent code assistance with context-aware completion, syntax highlighting, inspections, quick documentation, and automated refactorings for PHP and related web technologies • Built-in support for PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, and Zend Framework, along with support for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and templating languages including Twig and Blade • Navigation and project analysis tools that enable search across files, classes, symbols, and usages, supporting work in large or complex codebases • Integrated debugging and testing tools, including breakpoint management, PHPUnit support, and version control integration such as Git • Database and deployment tools, including SQL support, remote interpreters, Docker and Vagrant integration, and built-in terminal access PhpStorm enables developers to manage backend and frontend workflows within a single IDE. By combining language-specific code intelligence with debugging, testing, and deployment support, it provides a structured environment for PHP application development across local and remote environments.

## PhpStorm Reviews
  ### 1. Fantastic IDE - Everything in one place

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Where to start, PHPStorm is one of the best, if not the best IDE for developing with PHP. (InteliJ for other languages as well since they are almost the same product). You really have to enjoy the terminal that is built in, along with how many addons there are to support things such as your vagrant box or managing your servers directly.,and managing all of your commits, with the git intergration. The level of customization is always fantastic, from the colors, to spacing and auto completion.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I do not have any dislikes for PHPStorm, it has perfectly handed ever use case I have needed in order to develop my Apps.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Make sure to evaluate all other competitions, as things in this field change so often, but at the time of this review, we have found no better product.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has provided us with a fantastic all in one app that has truly made developing for our company so much easier. Additionally, it makes on boarding new devs easy as well, and really lessens the learning curve of getting into a new companies projects.

  ### 2. Backend/Front End Developer, have been using this product through multiple versions.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew R. | Social Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Comfortable and intuitive, It has a built in terminal and if you need you can run multiple terminal sessions at a time. Easy to setup VCS, and setup projects to fit your desired load-out. Windows can be opened up outside of the main screen in order to accommodate multiple screen setups. PhpStorm is now on a monthly pay model so you can constantly get updates and improvements as time goes on.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Copy/Paste bugs have plagued this application across multiple versions. There is no rhyme or reason for when they start to happen, suddenly your copy commands whether it be a keyboard short cut or mouse click do not take effect. The only way to mitigate this is by restarting the application.

When you make some project level changes sometimes PhpStorm will struggle to re-index every file causing the CPU to bog down.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

As long as you are ok with a subscription based software I think you will enjoy this application for web application development.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing backend and front end development and maintenance over the many projects my company has. Overall this application performs very well sans what I said in the "dislike" section. For the most part PhpStorm is very much out of the way and lets you do the things you need to do.

  ### 3. Best way for program in PHP

Probably the consul of memory for big projects

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Yes probably for advanced developers is the best way

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Program projects easy with PhPStorm for example for Magento .

  ### 4. Php Storm

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dev M. | Frontend Software Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The functionality is amazing. It covers all the features you need.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It is not free and for students, it can be expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Use it without a doubt. Absolutely worth it.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it in our daily coding and it aids with debugging and it has a clean UI.

  ### 5. Best PHP-oriented Web Stack IDE One Can Find

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James C. | Lead Software Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm provides a useful toolkit for search, that understands the code logic. Also, code inspections (if set up correctly) can save your nerve by making sure you don't omit commas, semicolons, or even spell your variables right, as well as checking CSS/HTML code compatibility. Built-in shell allows to debug scripts easily, and the plug-in system makes this software quite extensible. In addition to these, I find the variety of options and settings (divided into global settings and per-project settings) very comfortable, especially the fact that I can export and import them, and effortlessly move to a different computer while maintaining my code style, spacing & indentation, inspection patterns and syntax coloring.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

A few things, which are fairly minor:
- When searching for usages of a function or method, there isn't an option to filter the usages found by arguments used in the calls (quite often I'm searching for usages of a certain optional argument that I need to change or remove from the function's declaration), so in order to find those I have to click through every usage, even if there are dozens of them
- Javscript, HTML and CSS validation is not always working correctly
- Javascript variable and function usage search often yields unrelated results, as if it were plain text search (my guess is, the software doesn't follow JS logic as professionally, as it does PHP logic); also, finding declarations is not always easy
- the software was written in JAVA and while it does perform fairly well on a machine with 8 GB or more RAM, it's still not as fast as I'd like it to be; particularly, I'd be willing to pay up to twice as much for an analogical piece of software written in C++ (which I'm sure would just fly like a rocket even on a poor old computer)

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you have to choose between Eclipse and PHPStorm, choose the latter.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Minimizing software refactoring costs, saving time spent on text manipulations. I have realized the benefit of PHPStorm's smart logic that does some of the routing work for the developer.

  ### 6. phpStorm Changed the Way I Work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derrick K. | Lead Programmer Analyst/Web Administrator, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like that phpStorm gives me access to all the basic features I was used to having in my old IDE such as terminal, remote file browsing, database tools but phpStorm offers all that and so much more. I primarily do Magento development so the Magento plugins with auto-complete was a total game changer. Built in VCS for git and hg also streamlined the way I manage our code repos.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Its has a bit of a learning curve. Leaning what plugins to use and what works best for your projects takes some time. I develop on the Mac and the interface feels almost Windows-ish if you know what I mean.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Try it. Take time during the trial to get it properly set up for your projects. You won't regret it.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

phpStorm has streamlined my development process. The time from dev to staging to production has decreased. My code is cleaner and the Magento plugins has increased my productivity.

  ### 7. Phpstorm - the best IDE for pho intelligence and live devugging

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitch T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The JetBrains intelligence is amazing. It easily digs through your source code and makes optimization suggestions, as well as helps with simple tasks like auto generating code snippets.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Setting up xdebug is a little tedious, but once it is configured, it stays configured for multiple environments

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you need to find an ide to help develop complex solutions using open source software like Wordpress, Magento, Drupal etc, Phpstorm is for you

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently using Phpstorm to provide ongoing feature enhancements for our only e-commerce solution, developed using MagentoCE

  ### 8. The perfect IDE for PHP

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesús H. | Desarrollador de front-end, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Its way of integrating with GIT is excellent, even analyzing the version files, seeing their differences. The way to do PUSH is very simple. The real-time interpretation of PHP code is very powerful.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

When you have many things processing like a database, project explorer, coding, splitting the file in two, certain lag starts to appear.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the company, we had a fairly large PHP project connected to a MYSQL database and, thanks to PhpStorm, we were able to have everything controlled from a single environment.

  ### 9. Effective, well-featured IDE for PHP development

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam A. | Founder & CEO, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

All of the usual IDE features work well, good error prevention, auto-completion and search functions. Code quality analysis and code reformatting are very useful, especially for quickly cleaning up contributed or old legacy code to newer standards.

Automatically checking the server status of files on startup is useful, and the accurate deployment sync is very useful for us as we control the RCS from the server, rather than from the IDE.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm doesn't like that our web root is below our project root. This is a minor irritation and doesn't affect us as we don't use the features which rely on a correctly set web root. Sometimes the SVN integration doesn't quite generate useful output, but again this doesn't affect us much as our workflow is better served using SVN on the server side.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I'd recommend PhpStorm to anyone looking for a good PHP IDE. After years of using nano because I found all other IDEs to be worth less than the hassle of using them, I'm pretty happy with PhpStorm. There are some quirks down to how our software is structured, but those are probably specific to us.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Switching to PhpStorm from nano provided immeasurable benefits, mostly to accuracy and avoiding silly syntax bugs that PhpStorm picks up. As you'd expect, the usual autocompletion is a huge time saver, especially for complex and rarely-used project-specific functions.

  ### 10. One stop solution for all PHP project development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul B. | Staff Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I use this software with the Laravel framework and clearly, this is the best tool I have used now. I have been using Adobe Dreamweaver before and I am very happy that I have migrated to PHP storm. The features that I like the most are:

1. Easy integration with PHP frameworks (like laravel)
2. In-built terminal, so you don't have to CD to the project directory to run your commands.
3. Highly configurable syntax highlighting and code-completion.
4. One of the best integration with Git.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I really miss the Dreamweaver's site manager like UI. However, PHPStorm does support FTP and SFTP, but the workflow is not same as Dreamweaver's site manager.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

The best IDE I have seen so far. Far much better than eclipse or eclipse based IDEs. If you are working on a large-scale project, then PHPstorm is the tool for you.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PHPStorm for the projects development. The best benefit is PHP error detection. Not even of syntax, but semantics.

  ### 11. Best PHP IDE Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHP Storm is for me the best php IDE on internet, How you can use plugins on it.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Sometimes the software is so slow because is based on JAVA.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I write code every day using phpstorm on my web developments, fast and easy. The Ide Give good tools to every web developer, give you very good sintax editor

  ### 12. Good software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deivison d. | Business Manager, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Meets all requirements you need no backend development.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It does what it need to, nothing else. But it's ok, because there isn't too much things to do. Furthermore, it could have a better self-completition system to codes.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

It's a good software, but do you really need it?

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Back-end development

  ### 13. Phpstorm is the number one among PHP IDEs

  ### 14. Nice PHP IDE

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eliott H. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

This is the best PHP IDE I've worked with in years! Easy to use, fast and supports the new trends quickly in contrast to Eclipse etc. And the Github, SASS support is already included, that's just awesome! The Built in terminal and CI are a must for all apps, in combination with autocomplete, it's a next step. There aren't many companies that can say they have that.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It's a java program, like Eclipse, that causes a high memory usage, but that also makes it easier as cross platform. It's pricy indeed, but if you are a full time (PHP) developer. It's really ok. With an upgrade of the mobile device client, designer and memory usage, it can become one of the best IDEs.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

It's very easy! If you only need to code it's ok. But if you use it in combination with Adobe, design programs, It's better to use a free program (eg. Atom) or Adobe Dreamweaver (if you use Adobe already).

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy PHP Coding. Editing PHP files, version control. Drupal site building made easy. Cross platform development.

  ### 15. Phpstorm is handsdown the best IDE available for developing php

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Php storm provides an extreme amount of time saving shortcuts. The ability to connect debuggers, integration with version control make it a dominating tool for coding in php

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Based on java . So go out of memory for large application development. Sometimes themes make it clumsy

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Develop server side applications. Useful tool for MVC based php applications

  ### 16. An essential IDE for PHP developers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denis W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm makes it easy to work with PHP projects of all sizes. I use it frequently to work with Laravel projects. It offers code intelligence, reformatting, built in version control, integrated debugging, and has a UI that can be as complex or minimal as you wish.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Based on the Java Runtime Environment, the IDE can be a bit slow under heavy workloads.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhpStorm allows us to keep code consistent across our team of developers. It also ensures our development processes remain speedy.

  ### 17. Great PHP Development IDE

**Reviewed by:** Jason W. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2018

Ease of tracking functions, auto fill works great.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Can get very memory hungry. Has high disk usage.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Develop apps for the company

  ### 18. Best IDE for PHP

**Reviewed by:** Giusepppe G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Have all features you need thanks to a lot of plugin. You can use it from develop to deploy without worry

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is nothing that doesn't work, perhaps can improve the memory manage

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We speed time to coding

  ### 19. Good software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matteo M. | IT Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The software is really great, simple, light and useful. I use it as an alternative to Visual Studio for php programming as recommended by my teacher. A new project is created in a very short time, really well optimized even for Mac.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The only problem is that it is not available in the Italian language. But besides this nothing else to report.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Good, software the price is the best.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Greater simplicity than the Microsoft alternative, especially on macOS.

  ### 20. PHP Storm

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeannette H. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like the fact PHP Storm highlights parts of your code and gives shortcuts to change the code to improve it. Like I had HTML in my code that could be done with CSS and it had it highlighted and marked depreciated, telling me to pres command-F1 to change it.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The down side to PHP Storm, like most coding programs is the out of the box intimidation, it can seem a little complex at first especially after coding with TextEdit and DreamWeaver for so long.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

PHP Storm from what I have seen thus far is a very insightful program in helping write PHP code. It catches little depreciations and things that dreamweaver lets by and TextEdit just flat ignores.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PHPStrom has resolved a few issues I had with mark up on PHP with other coding programs. I realized that the other programs were falling short on aiding me in my PHP code and I was looking for something more.

  ### 21. PhpStorm - Really good IDE for experienced QA / dev's

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomasz B. | Junior QA, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm works really good with many file types, not only php. For example - json, twig framework, and even front-end files like .js, .css, .sass, etc.
While working with project locally we can quickly check app in different browser clients - at the right top corner we can see small icons of browsers, when editor is active.
Large base of plugins.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I really like this IDE but I think it's a little bit too expensive. At least for new developers. Also for just starting QA or developers it can be too much. You need to invest not only money but also a time to better meet PHPStorm and be more efficient.
I think also there should be a better other languages support.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you are beginner tester, QA or software developer, price of this software can be too high. Also, you maybe don't need all of tools that PhpStorm provides. But if simple and free editors like atom or sublime text are not enough for you, and most of the time, you are working with php, json, js, css files, then you should consider buying PhpStorm. It's really good, fast and solid tool.
Generally i will recommend this tool for mid and senior QA / developers, not necessarily as the best choice for beginners and juniors.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing unit and automatic tests in PhpStorm is much easier than in normal editors like atom or sublime. If I cannot do something with pure version of PhpStorm It is easy to implement necessary plugin

  ### 22. PHPStorm - Good IDE for PHP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rohit S. | Senior Software Engineer, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

IDE make it really easy for us to code. PHPStorm is very easy to use and has autocomplete features which enables us to write code in an efficient and factored way so that full team can understand it. There exsits other IDEs for PHP too but this is the best one.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Github integration would be really great which isn't there right now.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Worth the money. There is 30-day trial too and education pack for students too. Go for it!

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

People in teams use PHPStorm to write modular code so that everyone can write one module at a time and the work division is top class. It's different than other ones in many ways that one can imagine of. It has ready made templates that you can directly use to kickstart any small or big projects, etc. Overall so many benefits that it's worth the time and money that we invest in it.

  ### 23. Probably the best PHP editor I have ever used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It helps me with code completion. Finding object references.
It makes very easy for me to upload files to the server...
It has built-in version control client.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I had some problems trying to debug my code. The debugging set up was not as easy.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Try it and see how much more productive you can be.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coding in PHP.

  ### 24. Excellent IDE. can't work efficiently without it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad H. | Database & Web Services Manager, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Code completion, quickly able to jump to functions/methods through the whole project with a click, GIT integration and showing me my changes in any file and any line. The IDE starts quickly and even has a built-in database interaction.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The debugging modes are hard and complicated to use. Wish the spell checker/changer was quicker to access. Quickly renaming files would be nice. There are sometimes where I will click out of the IDE to a web browser (mostly Chrome) or email client and back the PHPStorm and my cursor will not show up and I can make any changes edits. To correct this I have to click out of the IDE and back in. Not a huge deal and it doesn't happen very often. If you can tell there is a lack of dislikes and needed to find something.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

PHPStorm is worth the subscription. It has really helped me develop code efficiently and reliably.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing code for our site mostly all oh PHPStorm. The IDE is pretty solid and I can quickly edit & upload/commit code changes to get features/fixes to our site fast. I love to be able to quickly open a terminal with the direction already loaded and all within the IDE.

  ### 25. PhpStorm is an awesome tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I have been searching for an IDE for some time, and the vast number of integrated tools, from Git through to code inspection and database management made this a real standout.
When starting a new project you know there will be many long hours ahead so its important that you are comefortable with the programing environment being used.
PhpStorm is comefortable to use, has a huge set of features including support for a very wide range of frameworks including AngularJS, Symphony, Drupal etc.
It also has support for a very broad range of technologies including CSS, HTML5, Javascript and allows for refactoring, debugging across everything.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is little to dislike about this product, however if I had to pick something it would be that it can be a ittle slow and manages to consume quite a few resources on my system. But this is a small price to pay for such a great tool.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

While there are many different IDEs on the market, PhpStorm is a real standout in terms of support, features and ease of use. I now spend most of my day inside the interface without the need for any other 3rd party tools. Well worth the price.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhpStorm has made software development much more efficient with its VCS integration, SFTP capabilities and database management tools all builtin.

  ### 26. The best PHP IDE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Very powerful, lots of shortcuts, easy to refactor code, code-inspection to highlight problems, integrates with x-debug well.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is quite heavy on memory use - 1.5Gb isn't unusual. Not free

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Do the free trial, and see for yourself. Have a look through the Plugins, and I'd recommend "Php Inspections (EA Extended)" in particular.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to use a plain text editor, but PhpStorm has saved so much time and effort. Easily pays for itself.

  ### 27. PhpStorm is a comprehensive IDE with a good range of features

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Covers a broad range of technologies.
Debugging and live editing makes the coding relatively simple.
Built-in tool for database management and SQL.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Can be slow.
Autocomplete can have its own ideas.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can write that code in a broad range of technologies, including HTML5, CSS, Emmet and Javascript, and still use refactoring and debugging, and see instant changes with Live Edit. And the IDE puts a big bunch of essential tasks right at your fingertips. Command-line tools are there, if you want them, but so are databases and SQL, as well as Vagrant and Composer.

  ### 29. PHP Storm has drastically enhanced the way I write code.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob M. | Front-End Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Being able to quickly jump to function declarations or view function parameters all via a couple of keyboard shortcuts is excellent. Also being able to Greg an entire codebase quickly and view/make edits to the results without having to directly open the file is amazing.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

New features can sometimes be buggy so I tend to be a late adopter of updates.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Take your time getting everything set-up. Watch tutorials and videos of others using and setting up the software. There's a lot to learn as the software is so powerful, but it's incredibly rewarding when you know what you're doing.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My development time has been sped up exponentially. Before PHP Storm I used a text editor. IDEs change the game.

  ### 30. PhpStorm the best development environment for PHP

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

In my opinion, the best thing about PhpStorm is its great graphical interface; it is software with many tools that help the developer, and it also has a large community behind it.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

What I like least about PhpStorm is its learning curve; perhaps if you have never used the environment, it might be somewhat difficult to adapt to it.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I would recommend it to everyone who needs a development environment for PHP

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can create web pages and web applications with PHP.

  ### 31. One of the best IDEs for PHP development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aravind S. | Member of Technical Staff, Consumer Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Here are the things l like about PhpStorm: Code navigation and code completion saves a lot of time developing and maintaining really big projects. I find the function parameter hint feature based on documentation really useful. I really appreciate PHPUnit support, It helps me run and debug tests directly out of IDE. I find the Composer support to resolve framework dependencies handy. Vagrant integration is highly welcomed. Very good support for VC system like Git, also inbuilt terminal increases productivity.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The code formatter has problems when using custom code style xml. I also find frequent crashing of IDEs
frustrating. The stability of the IDE could be improved in future releases. It is pretty heavy in terms of memory usage. It's smooth when you use it on a powerful machine. Running the IDE in laptops/desktops with configuration on lower end causes trouble.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

This is one of the best IDEs for any software developer working with PHP language. It mostly ticks all the feature boxes for a productive development tool.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building scalable web services in LAMP stack.

  ### 32. Review for PHPStorm

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivy C. | Programmer Analyst, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The IDE is familiar with what I am using with IntelliJ - it is easy for me to transition into this program.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Like their other products, it takes up too much RAM to run them - especially when you're using it with other software at the same time.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It works well with web development and other PHP backend issues.

  ### 33. Great experience with PhpStorm

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like the user interface, it's easy to use and user friendly! I also like the various shortcuts that are available to users since it makes coding more efficient.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It would be a lot better if it is updated more frequently, since we use phpstorm all the time. The last release was two months ago!

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Take the time to learn all the shortcuts and to customize the editor.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using PhpStorm to write code in various languages like php and javascript for web apps. It is very convenient to use and user friendly, much more so than other editors I've used.

  ### 34. It didn't seem excessively interesting to me.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oriol M. | Chief Executive Officer - Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It is good and complete. It more than fulfills its function.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I find alternatives like Sublime Text more useful for PHP and web development. In the end, since PHP is a server-interpreted language, I end up doing live tests on it.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I prefer Sublime Text when developing PHP/HTML/CSS, but PhpStorm is frankly good.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just use it as a text editor.

  ### 35. PHP Storm Goes With PHP Perfectly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Quentin P. | Founder, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Finding bugs is key to any software, and the ability to plug in a PHP debugger is a prerequisite - especially for someone new to PHP. I found the installation and use of a debugger simple.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There are so many preferences and options, it can be quite overwhelming at first, but further down the line - as you get used to it, you will want most of them.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

You could use any of the myriad editors out there, but PHP Storm will save you a lot of grief when you're trying to hook it up to all the other tools you will need if you want to write, version and publish software.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been writing a cloud based app, and needed to ensure everything was saved to my CVS of choice, and propagated all the way to my live server. So I now have a fully integrated publishing system.

  ### 36. The most complete IDE for PHP and Frontend

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** José Gabriel G. | Senior Full Stack Developer / Desarrollador Full Stack Senior, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

This IDE provides a lot of utilities to work on PHP projects. It gives a very good support for well-known PHP frameworks such as Symfony 2/3.3, Yii and a limited support on others frameworks such as Laravel (It could be better). It gives you an almost entire support for Symfony framework giving features such as navigations between routes and controllers, services, auto-completion in the Symfony annotations feature and much more.

It gives you an easy way to write, implement and run tests with PHPUnit.

It has a tool very useful to implement the git flow methodology on your version control system.

It gives you support for frontend frameworks such as Angular.js, Angular, React.js, Vue.js, jQuery, Bootstrap, Fontawesome and much others.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It doesn't have a very good support for a very used PHP framework such as is Laravel, because it could have navigations between routes and controller actions as we can do it in Symfony,

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives you the ability to work with Jira and manage your task registered on Jira it was very useful in the business of the company I'm working right now.

  ### 37. An excellent IDE for developers using PHP.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean Francis N. | Freelancer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I have been using Jetbrain's IDEs. They always provide high quality IDEs that can rival Visual Studio. If you are looking for an IDE, please do consider Jetbrain's IDEs. Being a Jetbrain IDE, PhpStorm is an excellent IDE and comprises the qualities of Jetbrain's other IDEs.

PhpStorm provides me with all the tools I need to write PHP applications. It provides intellisense, integration with Git, and superb refactoring and linting tools. When running your PHP code, you no longer need to set up Apache or any other third party web server. PHPStorm comes with its own built-in web server that runs your PHP code in a breeze. PhpStorm has made using PHP a lot less frustrating.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Jetbrain's IDEs are developed in Java. Not only that but the IDEs are also heavyweight applications. PhpStorm is no exception.

When running PhpStorm, it is recommended that one has a good enough machine to handle all of the load required by the IDE. A Core i3 would be sufficient at the minimum to run PhpStorm. However, there will be instances that you will need to run two or more Jetbrain IDEs. For that, a machine with better specifications is a necessity if you want to be productive.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

When considering PhpStorm, you should note that your machine should be able to run such a beast of an IDE. It provides tools that lets you create PHP easier, more productively, and subjectively happier.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using PhpStorm to create a grading and attendance system for our high school alma mater, Philippine Science High School Eastern Visayas Campus. PhpStorm allows us to be productive and develop our application faster.

  ### 38. Great framework to work on phone apps

**Reviewed by:** Hung L. | Group Engineering Manager of Product Innovation at Datacare Services Inc., Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like the way it integrates with the DB, git repository, and accesses and finds files in my directories fairly quickly.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Can be a memory hog at times. Can run a little slow as well.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Great easy framework to use to develop

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We just use it for software development.

  ### 39. Best IDE for PHP

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Really powerful IDE for PHP development, with multiple plugins available. Debugging is easy with breakpoints and code inspection, and code navigation and all its shortcuts help developing really fast.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It last too much to open, specially on big projects, with lots of file to index. It also consumes many resources, needing a powerful machine to run fluently.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped a lot while debugging php code, navigating into the code and reviewing variable values in different points of the workflow.

  ### 40. Solid IDE for Web Development, but could be faster

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Lots of features, themes, plugins, support is great.
JetBrains products are solid
Language support is solid

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Uses a lot of memory
PHPStorm's Java backend slows down the program by a lot

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Take some time to learn shortcuts, they'll speed up development by a lot

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Efficient full-stack web development

  ### 41. Heavy handed and restrictive

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher B. | Freelance Web and Software Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The application is slick, with lots of features and is great if you want all that comes with an IDE. It has great support and a helpful community, and since it's part of the Jetbrains family of products, it does more than focus on just it's primary purpose (PHP). It also is nice that it makes navigating your own code easier and helps you maintain standards.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The product takes a heavy handed approach with how your code should be written and throws out notices, warnings, and errors about your code structure and styling willy nilly. I believe some of this can be adapted to your own code style, but it didn't seem easy to me to do and was a distraction. Also, since it's an IDE, it isn't as easy to customize not only the application, but it's functionality, and writing a plugin is harder than for something else like Sublime.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you are getting into PHP just now, or starting a new project, or even seriously suffering from differing workflows and programming styles in a pre-existing project, it's worth a look, but it is an IDE so remember, it dictates a bit more than you may want it to as to how you work.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We evaluated PHPStorm as an alternative to the mishmash of applications our different developers used. Whereas having an application that would force everyone to adhere to the same coding standards and styling guide, as well as improve our documentation and allow us to support one another, it had too steep of a learning curve and was coming into a 7+ year old project. It just wasn't a good fit and we mainly stuck with text editors (one guy uses Vim, two use Sublime, and two were already using PHPStorm).

  ### 42. Best IDE for PHP that I've worked with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2018

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It's the consistency between products that makes Jetbrains such an amazing company. All their software is worth what they charge because you get familiarity and ease of use and with products that help you get your solutions developed on schedule.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I dislike working with php, which is why I like phpstorm. When my project requires me to jump into php, I want an IDE to help me get in and out ASAP.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If this IDE doesn't work for you, I'm guessing you probably probably prefer to use text editors as I once used to. I hadn't found a good IDE before and while I used Dreamweaver for a while, I wasn't happy with Adobe as a company. I had started using Jetbrains for my Python development so I thought I'd give PhpStorm a try and immediately loved it. This is a very slick and usable IDE.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Had to build php website functionality as the company was using php.

It was a built in server so no need to set up the like of MAMP or XAMPP

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I wish It has the ability to merge branches on another website on this application so we can do one step instead of multiple steps when have the file online

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not much yet

  ### 48. PhpStorm the best IDE for PHP

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Program Development | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I used Atom and Notepad++ for PHP development, but then I bought PhpStorm at early this year and I'm in love, everytime I need to develop something I use PHPStorm, not only for PHP, even with CSS, and JS since it includes support for them, is amazing how it works... The class finding, and the methods with params in the "Popup", everything is amazing

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The interface, I think it use a "common ide interface" which I think it is not good even with "templates".

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Just buy it, it totally worth it

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had a project where it included a lot of classes, methods (files in general) which I had to fix a lot of stuff and include more, it was a custom CMS without internal or external docs, so I had to read every file one by one trying to understand what it does, but when I open it with PHPStorm, it helped me a lot because it searched for me where the classes were and the method which params receive and what returns and a lot of stuff more.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development of websites.
