## About PhpStorm
PhpStorm is a PHP integrated development environment (IDE) developed by JetBrains that provides tools for writing, analyzing, testing, and debugging PHP applications. It is designed for professional PHP developers, full-stack web developers, and software teams building server-side and web-based applications. Common use cases include developing PHP web applications, maintaining legacy systems, working with modern JavaScript frameworks, integrating databases, and managing large or multi-module codebases. PhpStorm supports the PHP development lifecycle within a single environment. It includes context-aware coding assistance, project navigation tools, refactoring capabilities, debugging functionality, and integrations with version control systems and testing frameworks. The IDE runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, providing a consistent development environment across platforms. Key features and capabilities include: • Intelligent code assistance with context-aware completion, syntax highlighting, inspections, quick documentation, and automated refactorings for PHP and related web technologies • Built-in support for PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, and Zend Framework, along with support for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and templating languages including Twig and Blade • Navigation and project analysis tools that enable search across files, classes, symbols, and usages, supporting work in large or complex codebases • Integrated debugging and testing tools, including breakpoint management, PHPUnit support, and version control integration such as Git • Database and deployment tools, including SQL support, remote interpreters, Docker and Vagrant integration, and built-in terminal access PhpStorm enables developers to manage backend and frontend workflows within a single IDE. By combining language-specific code intelligence with debugging, testing, and deployment support, it provides a structured environment for PHP application development across local and remote environments.

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2022

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The XDebug integration makes step-through debugging of PHP code very simple once it's set up correctly. Searching across large projects is quick once the indexing has completed.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm can consume large amounts of memory (multiple gigabytes) when working with a large project. Also, sometimes the index or cache becomes out of date and needs to be manually cleared.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team and I use PHPStorm to build large web applications. It allows us to work on large-scale projects while being able to easily navigate throughout the codebase.

Phpstorm is a great IDE for all web programmers and I highly recommend it. Considering its size, it is super fast! It also supports many languages and plugins other than PHP, allowing you to build robust applications consisting of several programming languages.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

If there is more than one large project open at a time it can cause the system to get quite slow. Additionally, it is not a free IDE.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Try out the free 30 day trial via JetBrains before purchasing.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently building interactive tools for buyers of a large company, which will allow them to view their inventory and listings in a more proficient manner via connection to a SQL database.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mateusz P. | Backend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It's the only PHP IDE that behaves like an IDE. It has refactoring features, code generation, can work with Docker or local servers etc. The tests integration is very easy.
Now it also have a feature of pair programming which is very useful for online working teams.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It's quite heavy, especially if you open a few projects. But I think it's inevitable with such a tool.
Also the configuration is sometimes complicated. But there is a lot of tutorials available.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Don't hesitate and buy the license. If you are developing in PHP it's the only tool out there that will meet your needs.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am developing all my days using PHPStorm. It's the only tool I really use.

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Always the latest and best features for PHP and integrations/support with various other services, frameworks, AWS SDK etc.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is not much to dislike, even the price is affordable. If I would have to choose something it would be training material to get the best out of the IDE.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

PhpStorm is easy to use and support is great. There is a big support base so any query/question you have already probably have an answer, if not someone will assist.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use PhpStorm with the various other Jetbrains products to design, code, document and testing with very good code repository support.

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

integration with git out of the box and able to connect to database with its integrated db studio

Commit window still not friendly enough compare to other IDEs like VS Cod*

  ### 9. Powerful IDE making software development process easier

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHP Storm provides a pretty solid toolkit for PHP development. Two things that I love about it is the ease it provides when debugging the code, and second is ability to use additional plugins that make it even more powerful.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Given PHPStorm is a Java-based IDE, it is a memory hog. When running two projects in parallel, you might not be able to do anything else on the system.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development in PHP, code debugging, ease of integration with source control management systems.

  ### 10. Faster development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Excellent PHP developer with the most varied features that an IDE should have, making the experience more complete and fluid. The built-in keyboard shortcuts and support for saving files are great.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I don't see many disadvantages, except that sometimes it slows down when loading larger projects. It also has some features that are not so intuitive.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped us to develop more quickly and without the constant need for a constant proofreader.

  ### 12. easy to use developing editor

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Syntax highlighting and autocompletion is excellent to avoid typing errors. Comparision side by side of two files is very useful.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Continuing saving of the file can be lagging if it is using a mapped drive.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Try it as an option to have a robust IDE for development

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Light IDE that does not consume too many resources, I helped us to speed the development time of our code.

  ### 13. Amazing IDE for php and frameworks like Laravel

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** saif u. | Co-founder DOLF, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like nearly everything about this software. There are small bugs sometimes but overall works like a charm.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Sometimes small bugs are encountered in the application but not significant.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Consider this tool if you are using PHP or related frameworks. I use this for Laravel and it works like a charm. Never felt a need to find or look for anything else. The extension library is super amazing. The themes are beautiful and elegant. This software is not too costly and fits all the users while developing a laravel or PHP based application. CLI can be improved more I think.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhpStorm for laravel projects

  ### 14. Extremely pleasant to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar K. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm does everything very well out of the box with autocompletion, and the plugin feature makes it the best IDE for Laravel

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It can be slow as its a very "feature-rich" program as well as the built-in git feature is a tough nut to crack

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am getting extremely good autocompletion, making me able to write code at a faster pace.

  ### 15. IntelliJ delivers a great package

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It would be a combination of ease of use and being open to so many community-managed extensions that make the tool so useful in most aspects of PHP software development

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The licensing can feel a little restrictive at times

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used PhpStorm as a full-stack PHP developer, and it is great on both the front-end and the back-end (and has easy access to git management and the console)

  ### 16. Really nice even with the associated cost

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It's a really complete IDE. You can work really well with Laravel.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

For me it's too expensive, I really like it but I would prefer if it were a bit cheaper.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhpStorm for all my Laravel projects, so it's required for me. Otherwise I get a bit lost.

  ### 17. Autocomplete save lives (:

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I love the intuitive interface and the autocomplete function because we are always in a hurry, which saves LOTS of time.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

I didn't have any issues with the software yet (:

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We quickly develop interfaces and the whole team learn to use it very fast.

  ### 18. Exquisite as all JetBrain's IDE's

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Everything works, and everything works fast.
I love that with a few keystrokes, your code gets formatted beautifully.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Hard to tell, maybe the pricing (AFAIK there is currently no free edition).

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Best PHP IDE around.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improves the productivity developing in PHP and many other web languages and frameworks.

  ### 19. Great IDE for building PHP application with everything u need within a single window.

If u want to build PHP projects with ease , and by taking advantage of intelligence built to make it quicker to code the application u want , then go for it.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using php storm to build complex erp application on php in my company.. having database client , own terminal and many other options to enhance development experience.

  ### 20. The best PHP IDE that exists

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro P. | Junior Java Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like how easy it is to use and that it is compatible with other languages like jQuery, React, and Angular.js. Also, PHPStorm is not strictly for the PHP language only because I use it for JavaScript and CSS as well. I like the syntax highlighting feature too because it offers suggestions to improve that highlighted part of the code. JetBrains, the developer of PHPStorm, creates products that are worthwhile for their ease of use and the productivity boost they provide to users.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It uses a lot of memory and sometimes takes a long time to load. But it's not so bad because I have never experienced a crash yet. Also, it's packed with amazing features, but automatic migrations are not one of them.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I am using this IDE as my code editor when writing my HTML, CSS, and PHP codes. PhpStorm is quite intelligent and allows me to increase my productivity many times over.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating web applications using the PHP language in a business environment. This code editor has helped us reduce the errors we are making. Additionally, it has great built-in features like FTP, GIT, and terminal, so there's no need to purchase other software for those.

  ### 21. Makes PHP less painful to work with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nakula B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I'm not a fan of PHP with the dynamic typing and frequent updates between versions that break my code so a good IDE that makes a painful language easier to work with is godsent, my favorite thing is that you can easily jump into files if you are in the function that calls a different file, it saves a lot of time especially in a large deployment with many developers that work concurrently in different parts and was developed over a long time.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is a bug I hit relatively often with (override(map[])) now; With long object names sometimes just doesn't work anymore, on the upside I think that it will be patched soon since it is already reported.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you have used Pycharm or IDEA it will feel familiar to you.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing on PHP to interact with Databases is faster than with other tools, they also have datagrip so you don't need to switch much cosmetically speaking.

  ### 22. PHPStorm is an ideal IDE for production-grade PHP applications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm is a very feature-rich IDE. It's very helpful for working with production-grade PHP applications. Additionally, the JetBrains suite works well across the engineering org as we also use DataGrip -- having consistency across tools is very nice.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There's a bit of a learning curve (which is true of basically any IDE). Personally I find myself switching between many text editors all day and PHPStorm's keyboard mappings are still the least intuitive to me. I'm sure if I used it exclusively or even much more than I currently do that would be less of an issue.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working with production-level PHP applications, I need a robust IDE to help boost productivity and reduce errors. We use it across our organization. The refactoring and automated features are very helpful.

  ### 23. if you value your sanity pick a product that works correctly!!!!

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2017

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

some things are good i guess but i never use that ish because im a senior erlang dev ex. php dev it makes the clusterf*** seemingly easier to navigate, but its all lies.....

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

this product used to be good but version 2016.2 to current 2017.1 is unacceptable for business use, i have a long running review of this app based on the frustrations ive had since 2015, so 2 yrs of headache and nothing has been solved and the devs of the platform basically refuse to fix or acknowledge, they just take your money. review is here https://plus.google.com/106435649138230430305/posts/D1A8CEgoRkq
also try making a new file its insane, make a popup the mouse has to click and miss the click and restart. fire yourselves!!!!

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

at first you will be surprised at all the features ... until you decide to use them your ide crashes and burns with no support and then ultimately you realize it was all hype and mostly increases the development time with negligible benefits. for every feature there is a learning curve that will force you to redefine your workflow until you can no longer contain it.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i have realized that trusting a company full of hacks with the responsibility if creating usable business software is both a money pit and technical debit.

  ### 24. One of the best PHP IDE out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

It has excellent support for Windows subsystem Linux (WSL2). It has nice IntelliSense and integrations like git, docker, xdebug & many more.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Sometimes it takes a lot of time to index things.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Just try this for 30 days & you will know what to use :)

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster coding. Lesser errors.

  ### 25. The solution for your powerful developer clients.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nirav B. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

This software attracts my attention, due to its splendid and effective functionalities, which it has integrated into its programming, which can be used by any user in particular, in the most flexible way possible, including that it supports direct access keys that help the coding process, and make it faster at work, since we save considerable time, thanks to this option of use, without excluding that it contains an automatic generation of assistance functions such as autocomplete and quite useful information and prevalent.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

After some updates to the version of PhpStorm, drastically, the application began to present slowdown failures, to start or perform several operations at the same time, which is a considerable problem, since sometimes due to its slow system, it can delay the work you do on a platform, on significant issues, including the initialization process for source code debugging, it's a bit obscure.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

It is recommended for companies that have quite extensive code bases, which those that have these contributions are the ones with the greatest daily labor productivity, especially if these organizations have high-category developers in their departments that are specifically based on PHP matters, including that it is also excellent at ensuring strong and sophisticated version control, with informal colored files that was currently added, being quite a complex system, on the positive side.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a large web company, one of our departments is based on planning and creating implementations of software tools to develop, administer and manage an online site, in the best possible way, in shorter terms, we can consider them in the acronym of cms, which we use on a large scale for our clients, since developers have the facility to choose their own work instruments, in order to guarantee a scan of a complete code base and thus build an establishment of virtual data for autocompletion.

  ### 26. PhpStorm, a great and smart IDE for every web-dev

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niklas M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

With PhpStorm you've smart addons to work much easier with frameworks and they make your work so much easier. There is no need to have the documentation open on the side you can just rely on the autofill option for example. It really helped me to get comfortable at programming with shopware and symfony. But it is not just that, you have built in terminals, git / vcs support and you can fast and easily connect to databases you are working with. It is in my opinion the perfect IDE to work with projects built on a PHP Stack. It is definitely a must-have to work properly in structured and OOP projects.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Unfortunately it costs money. But it does for a good reason, because the features it comes with make it very worth. And it is a java based IDE leading to some memory issues, next to that I still can not see any real downside to PhpStorm.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

You should really dig yourself into all the features given, because that is what makes PhpStorm so wonderful. Sure, a very experienced programmer wont need all these features you could say, but I know a lot of wonderful programmers that rave about these features and the efficiency PhpStorm brings with it.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PhpStorm is helping me to learn how to program while im doing my apprenticeship. Thanks to the addons I have been getting used to php and several frameworks like shopware and to the agile processes that use git.

  ### 27. Best PHP development environment ever

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul M. | System Analist - Datacenter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2021

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

The possibilities of Remote debugging to another linuxbox

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

For some task is a little heavy, if i just need read code o adjust some config I use other tool

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly when I work hard in coding, for example Moodle Pluging Development. I found pretty easy all that I need

  ### 28. Great tool to help with web development and save time of developing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed A. | Full Stack web developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Support for several languages and programming libraries for web development, especially the PHP language and its frameworks and JavaScript and its frameworks

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Perhaps there is a problem with the temporary suspension, which is a bit heavy, but this is forgiven for the services it provides

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Solving slow running in lunching me be will make it perfect

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Built programs and multiple web sites in multiple languages and frameworks, nearly twenty projects

  ### 29. Best development software for websites

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Davine C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is a very good editor, I can definitely recommend it. Edited for a long time with PhpStorm, but also with his brothers from Jetbrains; Pycharm and Intellij. They are all top products that make your life much better.

As for PhpStorm, the debugger and good integration with XDebug is a huge plus. Putting a simple breakpoint in your code all makes as much as possible. In addition, PhpStorm also does a lot in the background. Such as highlighting code that is broken by definition, improvements for syntax and automagic import of namcespaces. Finally, it also has a lot of extra functionalities, such as a database client.

The only thing I don't like working so much are front-end things like Angular and React. For this I like to switch back to VSCode for the IntelliSense of TypeScript and JavaScript. It is possible in PhpStorm, but it is not my favorite.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The console. If you try to intall a npm package and try to paste it in the console it acts weird

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Advanced webdevelopment software thats easy to use

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used sublime text before this and that wasn't as advanced as PHPStorm

  ### 30. Programming.With benefits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmelo B. | Senior Backend Developer & Devops, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

All: completition, automation, error highlights, Quality checks ... all that you can dream.
You can install plugins to face all the completition - code generation - code navigation of the main framework in the industry: it be symfony, laravel, yii, PhpStorm have you covered.
You can debug your code very easily in PHPStorm, even if you use Docker or other container based systems: PhpStorm comes with containers handling capabilities that makes set up, start, stop and using containers a breeze.
Ah forgot: do you have html or css or js in your project as well and not only php? Even there, PhpStorm is ready to assist you: you'll have checkers and autocompletition for those too.
For me is the perfect programming companion

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Nothing really ... but one thing that can be misleading is the "shelve" feature that is the same as Stash in GIT

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Programming with PHPStorm is a fantastic experience: you have all the helpers you need, built in phpcs, phpmd and a lot of other error detecting stuff, autocompletition, generators... it's great, really. And all this staff either already there or installable via plugins
You should give it a try.

  ### 31. What is PhpStorm IDE? Why use it?

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erdem S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm extended code formatting structure is ready to help you format your code, perform unit tests or provide visual debugging. It provides a rich code editor and code completion features. In addition, PhpStorm offers an excellent suggestion to help you understand the operation of the application at every step.
It works well with large frameworks like PHPStorm, Symfony, Zend Framework, Yii, CakePHP, Laravel and important CMS systems like Drupal, Magento and WordPress.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The only and biggest drawback is that it is paid, unlike its biggest competitors. There is a free version for students, universities and many institutions, but for companies it is bad.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

A good IDE is packed with lots of features and facilitates rapid development and effective PHP programming. The integrated development environment creates the developer's playground and it is very important to choose an IDE that best fits the needs.
JetBrains has been one of the most loved companies in the developer tools market and has made coding easier and fun for developers over the past 15 years. Do not ignore this and feel free to choose.
You can install many plugins, research them and install the most beautiful ones.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Although PhpStorm is a PHP development tool, Javascript, HTML, CSS, CoffeeScript etc. It also provides a development environment for web technologies.
PhpStorm can be run locally or remotely with the Zend and Xdebug debugger. In addition, you can use the phpunit test unit.
PhpStorm is fast, easy to install and has the ability to work on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
Support GIT, FTP and remote file synchronization.
Finally, the easy management of multiple projects and quick transitions between projects, since there is more than one employee in a project, the ability to compare before saving, to prevent loss of coding.

  ### 32. Developing powerful application with PhpStorm

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhavesh B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is my first choice when it comes to developing a PHP Web application. All the major PHP frameworks are supported in Phpstorm such as Laravel, CodeIgnitor, Symphony, CakePHP, Wordpress, and Magento. PHPstorm is the advanced version of Webstorm with support of PHP and Database. Its refactor feature helps in safely renaming, editing and deleting a file in the project. With PHPStorm we can build powerful web applications and API and work with remote projects.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm is a very heavy IDE and has a very slow startup time. It reduces our system performance while working on a heavy project or file. I have personally experienced this issue on my mac system while working with a heavy javascript file.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At our company, we use PHPStorm for developing PHP Web applications that are stable, secure, and powerful for our clients. It becomes easy to work on projects that are hosted on cloud with PHPStorm. The IDE has various features like JS Debugger, Code completion, Refactor, and code inspection that are very helpful while working with PHP projects.

  ### 33. Simple yet Powerful PHP IDE software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aniket T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPstorm is our first choice when it comes to developing a large PHP web application as it supports almost every PHP framework like Symphony, Laravel, Drupal, Magento, and Zend framework. Once the project is created it deeply scan our project for all dependencies and understand its structures. PHPStorm even supports all major frontend technologies likes HTML, CSS, Javascript, Jquery, SASS, LESS, Vue, Typescript and many more. Another feature of PHPStorm is the Live edit feature that helps in seeing the changes instantly in the browser.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

The only thing I dislike about PHPStorm is that whenever there is an update for Mac PHPStorm we have to download it externally and install it again. Another disadvantage is that while working on a large project or heavy file the system slows down and makes it impossible for us to do other work.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, we use PHPStorm for creating powerful web applications for our clients as it is a perfect tool for building powerful PHP web applications. While working with large and heavy application there are a lot of chances of bugs or programming errors and PHPStorm IDE works with Xdebug and Zend Debugger to improve the efficiency of our code.

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

I like the Autocomplete features and the display of errors (syntax or compile time errors).

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

When working with big projects it can get laggy. For example, we use Magento 2 at work and at some point it lags and completely shuts down.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

It's an all-in-one software that makes development easy.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of other IDEs don't provide the features like Autocomplete or display of errors features. Also, I like the integration of Git. Another thing is the local history which helps looking back at changes and reverting them.

PhpStorm is a feature rich text editor and that is what I like the most. It has all the features of IntelliSense to make encoding much easier. Also, it has several built-in keyboard shortcuts to write the code faster. Another feature that I like is that it has SSH and Git compatibility.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is not free software. What I dislike is that your subscription is a little expensive compared to other available options.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

PhpStorm is software that works really well for PHP development. I recommend it for advanced developers who require code completion functions and integration with repositories.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use PhpStorm because it has IntelliSense built in, which makes writing the code very fast. Also, it has very debugging tools or compilers. On the other hand, it has Git and SSH integrated.

  ### 40. Flexible and Powerful IDE

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPstorm is our primary choice when it comes to developing powerful PHP Web applications. It is really easy to debug our code whether its PHP, Javascript or XML. It supports almost every heavy PHP framework like CodeIgniter, Laravel, and CakePHP which are mostly used by developers. One of the best features of PHPstorm is that we can create a project that is hosted on the remote host and files are accessible through FTP/SFTP. PHPStorm has an inbuilt command-line tool that helps in running important commands in the project.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

PHPstorm is a very heavy software and while working on a large project PHPStorm consumes a lot of physical memory and slows down the system and making it hard for us to work on other things.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PHPStorm helps us in building a powerful PHP Web application that is stable, secure and robust. We are currently using it to develop and maintain our Laravel Web application that is hosted on the remote server and is accessed through SFTP and by this, we can work on our local project and file get instantly synchronized with the server.

  ### 42. PhpStorm is an IDE with very complete functions for PHP development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando H. | Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is really the best IDE to program in PHP. It has really amazing features like version control or automatic saving. Also, it has the functions of IntelliSense, so it has autocomplete. Another feature that I like is the large number of keyboard shortcuts it includes.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is no open source version of PhpStorm, so after your free trial you will need to purchase the really expensive license.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you are a PHP developer, it will be a pleasure to program with this IDE. It has a set of functions and tools that will make coding easier.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used PhpStorm to program integrations with some apps. Overall, I realized that it is a software that allows me to be productive when programming, since it has auto-complete functions and also keyboard shortcuts to write the lines of code in a more fluid way.

  ### 43. A great IDE to work with. Addons make your programming easy.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niklas M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

With PhpStorm you have great addons to work with frameworks easier and they make your life much easier. Instead of having the documentation open all the time you can just use the autofill option for example. I used it to get comfortable programming with symfony and shopware for example. But not just that, there are a lot of extras given, you can easily connect to the databases you are working with, you have terminals and git / vcs support. It is just the perfect IDE to work within PHP projects. It is just a must have to work in structured and OOP projects in my opinion.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

It costs money, which is understandable with the huge amount of content they offer you. As well it is a java based IDE so it can lead to memory problems. Still, overall I do not see a lot of downsides to PhpStorm.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

If you have any problems, there are a lot of resources online. Make sure to use all features, because phpstorm has a lot of them.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With PhpStorm I am learning to program in my apprenticeship. It helped me getting used to php and frameworks. In the company I work we use a lot of modern and agile processes that require the use of git.

  ### 44. Best webdevelopment software there is

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Troy J. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Again, the simplicity of it. I've done done projects with it including on my internship at a big Webdevelopment company.
Me and my friends are trying to make a site where people can ask for a website and we all gonna code it in there.
There are alot of handy dandy plugin such as github plugin and autocomplete. The standard autocomplete is fine but with the plugin makes your life so much easier.

You can ask for a student licence which you have to renew every year so you can get it for free and use it anytime you want.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is not really something is dislike

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Use it now!

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was coding with vscode but i found it very confusing at first. Then school recommended Phpstorm and gave us students a licence for it.
It also autocompletes alot of things for you for a beginners coder and you dont know what to type there are alot of autocompletes which can help you making your website.

  ### 45. A Flexible and feature Rich IDE tool for development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neeraj G. | Software Developer In Test, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm supports almost every PHP framework and javascript framework. We use the Laravel framework with Phpstorm IDE and it helps in developing powerful and secure web applications. Auto-generation and auto-completion feature is really great and helps in writing code very quickly and efficiently. Every time we make changes in our project, PHP storm scans the whole project and indexes it accordingly.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

While working on multiple projects or heavy files like javascript can make Phpstorm consume a lot of physical resources of our system and can slow it down. Phpstorm supports almost every PHP framework and provides a very great debugging feature.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We utilize Phpstorm to develop our Laravel web application and WordPress blog. Phpstorm makes it really for us on working on multiple projects and troubleshoot issues very faster. It even helps us in pinpointing the errors in the codes, syntax highlighting, and various debugging issues.

  ### 46. A great solution for web developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oladapo A. | Web Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2020

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PHPStorm is very efficient and can be used for virtually anything: front (nodes) design, backend design ( databases connections, help objects, classes etc.) vcs, extending many easy-to-add plugins.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Absolutely nothing! Older versions certainly don't support other JS Libraries, but Jetbrains is not a problem in the plugin ecosystem.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I recommend this solution to every web developer.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PHPStorm was ideal for managing large PHP Projects. It is probably the best choice on the markets. The biggest advantage is the highest performance, which can only be achieved with the resources provided by the PHPStorm

  ### 47. The best IDE you can imagine for php oriented coding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pieter V. | Backend developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2019

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

PhpStorm is realy on top of the game. It has frequent updates to accomodate for new php versions. It also has a great plugin function with many very good plugins for like symfony/docker/vuejs/... Al the important stuff is there. Furthermore, PhpStorm helps a developer with organising and finding code due to machine learning in there code completion and finding.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

There is just one problem, it can be a bit tedious to wait for indexing to complete whenever you shift to another project.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

PhpStorm looks a bit pricey, but don't forget that your developers are way more expensive / hour. And since PhpStorm really improves your productivity, it is a great deal.

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned before, it helpes me with organising and finding my code easily. We have a huge codebase, but we don't find it to be a problem.

  ### 48. Commercial PHP IDE by Jetbrains

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary J. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

- There is a database view tab on phpstorm which even though is not completely perfect, provides basic and intermediate options for performing Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) operations on the database that you might be working with,
-Phpstorm offers code inspections for large variety of languages and is not just limited to php but also extends to JavaScript, html and even SQL. For SQL inspection, phpstorm can auto complete your table rows and data.
- Hundreds of very useful and essential plugins are readily available for download on phpstorm. Most of these plugins allow integration with other software development tools such as Microsoft Azure pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon Web Services.
- There is integration with Git from right within the IDE and you don't have to install any plugins to use it. Keeping track of file versions and changes is an important aspect of software development and in understanding this, phpstorm developers have tried to make the Git integration feel as native as possible

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

- This is probably one of Jetbrains most resource consuming product because it can easily max out four of your computer's processor cores. It becomes really hard to run it beside other applications especially a browser like chrome which is also unpopular for how it uses up the same resources.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

My key recommendation is that you ensure that the machine on which you intend to run phpstorm has at least 8gb of RAM with a 4 physical cores processor

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using phpstorm to consolidate the php work I do within one platform so that I do not feel the need to switch between applications. For example all the database, Git and frontend work are kept within one medium i.e phpstorm

  ### 49. Essential Developer Tool for PHP Programmers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane R. | Sodtware Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Phpstorm has uniquely and seamlessly integrated certain essential software development practices and tools into its core functionality. Some of these practices include:
1. Code refactoring which allows the user to quickly rename a class in one file and the namechange will be reflected in all the other project files; performing method and function calls and variable declarations and references. This feature is enable by phpstorm's quick contextualization technique which indexes and understands how the entire project functions and how the files are linked to one another.
2. Code quality tools can be easily installed. These include PHP code sniffer, and the mess detector which can function by validating your code to a certain code standard that you have set in place.
3. Integration with console and SSH clients where you can execute high level commands which can not be accomplished through GUI clicks and drags. You can perform these actions from right within phpstorm instead of switching to another program.
4. Git integration for managing and controlling your project files and tracking the changes that you have made to a project since initialization.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Phpstorm requires too much RAM and sometimes it becomes really hard for you to run it if your computer's software specifications do not meet this IDE's minimum requirements.
The tool is also very expensive and not economically viable to developers who are just starting out or even new entreprises.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

Check out the documentation page because it contains a ton of helpful articles. Also, remember you can do more than code php applications on this IDE

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Phpstorm is my favourite IDE for creating backend code using Laravel and Magneto since the support for both of these php frameworks is immense

  ### 50. The best PHP development environment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian K. | UI/UX Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about PhpStorm?**

Phpstorm's developers are very responsive and respond promptly to not just queries for help but also bug fix requests. Whenever a user highlights a bug, they are quick to check it out and if it in fact it is a valid bug, they patch it very fast and release the update on time. This is probably because the parent company, JetBrains, is arguably the best developer of integrated development environment and it wishes to maintain that status.
There are impressive search tools on phpstorm including the "find in path: which not only displays results but also includes file previews.
Phpstorm also has some project management functionality through the use of the TASKS feature where you can create tasks that you need to accomplish and you can retrieve them from your ticketing system. It's also amazing how each task can manage to keep its own context by maintaining opened files and changes.

**What do you dislike about PhpStorm?**

Phpstorm is definitely not a tool that can be used by beginner programmers. Someone who has very little experience developing php applications and or working with programming text editors or Integrate Development Environments will have a hard time making the best of phpstorm. There are so very many features cluttered o the UI that sometimes it can look scary and imposing.

**Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:**

I know that the temptation to turn off those little quick tip pop ups can be high but please, leave them on. They will guide you through using the IDE effectively

**What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My need to have an effective tool for not just developing the backend of applications (using php and its frameworks of course) but also to integrate the database development and even an aspect of front end design is what motivated me to try out this application.
