"Worked swell for online think aloud study!"
5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

I needed to be able to record audio from online research participants in real-time, especially when the pandemic shut down research labs and public gatherings. Phonic.ai made it work seamlessly! The paper with the results can be found here: researchgate.net/publication/341131477 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phonic?

Everything that I disliked was promptly fixed with feature updates and the like—and these fixes applied to data that I have already gathered, making them have retroactive benefits. So I can't really think of any current complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent customer service and ability to use videos in surveys!"
5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

The Phonic.ai team were very responsive to our needs & even added features that we requested. The ability to add videos to your surveys (survey content and responses) provides another angle to data that is not possible in other survey platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phonic?

Limits to the survey quota and pretty pricey. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Phonic - The best way to make an online survey"
5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

The reason I decided to use Phonic was because I wanted a survey site that let me ask audio and text questions on the same survey. Phonic made this possible, but even more than that, they made it extremely convenient!

Navigability - I was able to make the exact survey I wanted in about 20 minutes using Phonic. The creation of the survey made sense and was laid-out well. I could see possible question types, add a subtitle, edit my questions, reorganize the order of questions and find the link to share the survey extremely easily. I also could clearly see the amount of survey results, where to download an excel sheet of the results, and the list of individual responses.

Variety of question-types - Phonic has a lot of options for question types, including audio, audio and text, audio and slider, upload a doc, video recording, selection, short answer, long answer, slider, and dropdown. Each question type also has more adjustable settings to go along with it, such as required or optional, timed, and add media. You can preview each question as you make it or preview the whole survey when you're done with the draft.

Layout of the responses- I really appreciated that Phonic gives metrics on the completion level of surveys, the average time spent, the dates that the majority of surveys were taken, and the device used. Another positive was being able to see the list of individual respondents at the same time as viewing one response. This made it easy to jump between responses. What do you dislike about Phonic?

One thing I noticed is that the audio transcription can have small inaccuracies depending on if a respondent is breathing strangely. For example, one student was giggling as she spoke so instead of transcribing it as "I would like to be called [Name] " , Phonic wrote "I would like to be God [Name]", which was pretty funny. But I would assume that typically participants aren't laughing when they're being surveyed and that was about the only error I found out of 100+ respondents. "Great platform"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

I like the flexible API as well as the easy to use interface for constructing questions. I primarily used the audio recording features. I happened upon Phonic after trying to roll my own with JATOS + JS and running into cross-platform and session state issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phonic?

When I used Phonic each recording uploaded through the API counted as an entire survey submission. I was able to work out lee-way on the credits but this means that the API isn't quite a first class citizen in terms of account credits. This could have been changed now, though. "Great online survey tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

I used phonic for a survey I conducted last year as part of my research work. Originally, we were meant to carry out interviews but due to COVID-19 research restrictions we could not. However, with Phonic we were able to achieve something similar to an interview using their voice feature. Users could choose voice or text input! Significant to me was the team's commitment to helping their users. They were very hands-on in tailoring some features to meet our needs( someone will always get back to you!). Also, because we were able to share the link broadly and got more feedback than we anticipated, the dataset was huge. But phonic made data analysis very easy, they provided some automated data analysis features and charts. Last, the NL recognition is near good. Data cleaning was not hell. What do you dislike about Phonic?

Sentiment Analysis. Though, not so much of a problem if you are not reliant on it. It is subject to the challenges of sentiment analysis, difficulty of interpretation of context, sarcasm in text and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We subscribed to Phonic because of the possible audio answers. We are using it in our recruitment process so we can check the candidates' communication skills from the very beginning. It saves us a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An order of magnitude better insights into customer feedback by using voice and video"
5/5
What do you like best about Phonic?

Easy to setup and create customized surveys using traditional, voice and video input. Users shared significantly more information when they spoke than with traditional typed/slider responses. Voice and video made it easy to gain significant insights and sentiments - something that typed responses couldn't provide. Phonic replaced the need to conduct time consuming and costly user interviews. This is a really great way to gain market and product insights without using traditional market survey approaches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phonic?

Some higher order features still not built out but the response to my requests have been quick. Phonic is continually updating and improving the UI and report outputs so I see this as a short term issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
