## pgAdmin Reviews
  ### 1. Reliable, Feature-Rich pgAdmin for Everyday PostgreSQL Management but Not Easy to use

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurang A. | Full Stack Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2026

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

pgAdmin offers a strong set of features for PostgreSQL, including query execution, schema management, backups, and role control. It’s reliable and closely integrated with PostgreSQL, which makes it a dependable tool for day-to-day database operations. Implementation is fairly straightforward, especially given that it’s free and widely supported. For PostgreSQL users, it also tends to be used frequently as a natural part of regular workflow.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

The biggest drawback for me is ease of use, since it isn’t very intuitive. The UI feels cluttered, navigation can be confusing, and many common tasks require extra steps to complete. Performance also feels slow at times, especially when working with larger databases. Customer support is mainly community-based, which may not be enough for enterprise needs. Overall, the user experience comes across as outdated compared with more modern database tools.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pgAdmin addresses the need to manage PostgreSQL databases through a graphical interface, allowing users to work with queries, schemas, and general database administration without relying solely on command-line tools.

  ### 2. Powerful Open-Source PostgreSQL GUI That Streamlines Database Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

pgAdmin's intuitive query editor with syntax highlighting and auto-completion makes database management very efficient. The visual table designer and ERD tool save a lot of time when working with complex schemas. Being open-source and cross-platform is a major advantage for development teams.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

The interface can feel slow and resource-heavy when handling large datasets or running multiple queries simultaneously. The initial setup and configuration can be a bit complex for new users, and the connection management could be more streamlined for teams.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pgAdmin solves the challenge of managing PostgreSQL databases without needing to rely solely on command-line tools. For our development team, it centralizes database administration tasks like schema design, query testing, and performance monitoring in one GUI, significantly reducing the time spent on database operations.

  ### 3. Clunky, Unfriendly UI That Needs a Serious Overhaul

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

It does the job and works fine on older systems.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

The UI feels clunky and unattractive, and it’s not user-friendly at all. On macOS it lags, and it keeps crashing, especially when handling queries. Overall, it’s quite slow.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to run queries that help me answer business questions and make sense of the results.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Warit C. | Full-Stack Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2025

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

I like pgAdmin for its simplicity and nice interface. It runs on every OS, which is really convenient. Compared to DBeaver, pgAdmin stands out for letting me quickly connect to databases and see data without needing to write SQL queries each time. I can also check data, tables, and views swiftly, and take screenshots of the view to share with others since it appears in a presentable format. Setting it up was quick and just needed the connection to the database, which was pretty straightforward.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

I had an issue with the export feature on Linux; I couldn't find the saved files and had to spend a couple of hours fixing it. I'd also improve the ability to keep passwords saved even when a connection fails, as it sometimes asks me to re-enter the same password I entered before.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use pgAdmin to quickly connect and manage databases without writing SQL queries each time. It presents data in a convenient, presentable format, and I can easily share screenshots. Its simplicity, interface, and cross-platform functionality enhance my workflow.

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

The tools allow me to connect to a Postgres database with a good GUI, wherein I can see all database schema and can go down to different objects.
One of the good features is to download the data result of a query in a CSV file, which I use quite frequently.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

1. The search of an object from a list of objects, it is not allowed right now. If the search has to be made in these cases, we need to scroll the complete list which is not user-friendly approach at all.
2. The tabs at the top of the query area are not detachable which occupies a lot of space.
3. Backup and Restore of databases are not user-friendly, better to use cmd prompt for the same.

**Recommendations to others considering pgAdmin:**

Recommended. Easy to use and meets the requirement but there are few improvements areas which can be taken care easily.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PGAdmin is a tool used in the organization for connecting the local database.
The best part of the PGAdmin is, it allows us to connect the remote server database schemas.

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

I like how intuitive and easy to connect to tour DWH is, allowing to query your data by dragging the table’s name into the query’s tool.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

Sometimes, it take too long to query and it doesn’t show auto predicted column names.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, I use it to look for issues in our data when the reports don’t make sense. In that way, I can see in all the schemas.

  ### 36. Great User Experience

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

See new geometries with the map viewer, options to commit or rollback

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

Need of more auto populate SQL queries for example. The docking system still not working great. Perhaps implementation of the shapefile loader with pg Admin would be really great too

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analytical Spatial problems with lots lg geospatial data. Pg Admin 4 is a great interface over code line to query the database

  ### 38. Great DB Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

pgAdmin is one of the simplest db tools to use. The interface is nice and clean, it's easy to find how to add connections, query tables, and view statistics on a customizable dashboard. You can also create custom dashboard statistics which is great!

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

It took some time to get setup running in our DC/OS cluster. Also, as far as I've found (I'm sure there's one if I read the user guide), there isn't an obvious keyboard shortcut (like ctrl/cmd + enter) to just run whatever query you're trying to test out - you have to click the run button.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use pgAdmin to debug what data is actually in my application's database vs what I think should be there based on actions taken in the application. I've also used it to debug connection issues, query slowness, and testing out new queries for addition to our API.

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

It does everything that oracle and sql server can do just without the stupidly priced license fee.
I use it on a AWS cloud DB and since starting to use it 6month ago I’m now looking to move away other DBs from oracle/sql server.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

Nothing really.
At first it can seem complex as there is many settings. However in their default position they work well and without issue

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving £1000’s on oracle/sql server license. With hope to move over to this fully in next 2 years

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

I don't think it has anything for which i would dislike it. As i know it is a best database management tool and i did not experience any problem while using it.
But Among the things that I dislike about pgAdmin is that the new version of Pgadmin4, changed the location and structure of the tool panels and i am habitual of Pgadmin2.
But it is not a big deal and i always prefer pgAdmin for my backend work.

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

The interface makes it easy to query database. Also you can export your results into a csv file which is great to analyze data.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

Its is not the most intuitive interface when you are new to use it.
In windows sometimes i have to stop the process and restart from my task manager because it looses connection and won't work till I restart it like this.

**Recommendations to others considering pgAdmin:**

Easy to make query and manage tables in databases.
Recommended to people not familiar with shell/bash commands for databases.
Iterface could be more user friendly, but once you get used to it its quite easy

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to write and test queries, to look for possible bugs created for a faulty query. and analize data.
I also use it when im learning new languages to create APIs.
It is easy to manage, and I dont make complicated commands in bash.

  ### 44. PGAdmin makes easy to use it - postgres interface for querying

Different options to get insert/Create/Update scripts of the table as well as taking backup of the table from the PGAdmin interface or directly exporting query result into csv file, which saves a lot of time and save query into file using save button.

Tab Switching of the opened query tool , not allowed for windows users by using "Alt+ Tab" generally .
So its difficult to switch between tabs therefore we need to use the mouse cursor , it takes time while coding.

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

writing queries , functions and other objects and organize these objects under the certain schema of a Database , so that i can maximize the output by accessing the any object from the required database or schema and connect with server also.

  ### 46. Pgadmin Postgresql handling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmen H. | Secretarial Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2019

**What do you like best about pgAdmin?**

I love Pgadmin since it is an administrative tool for PostgreSQL, which allows you to complete all your administration tasks with ease such as: Easy to perform maintenance tasks of a Database where you can create and manage data tables, make copies security and restore, import and export data from one database to another, creating users, roles and privileges. The ease of installation is also ideal, it has a very intuitive interface and helps you get quick access to your external databases, something that would be tedious to do it through the Postgresql console. Finally, it offers great facility to audit the services of the Database, monitor the connected users.

**What do you dislike about pgAdmin?**

There are several details that cause me uneasiness from the security point, for example a user with a Query Role, can visualize the entire structure of the Database, indexes that make it up, and which are the users assigned to each Database , which is dangerous if any user tries to illegally access the Database with another type of Role. Another of the uncomfortable details is when a Database with a lower version is backed up under the .Backup format, and when being restored in a higher version it generates a problem preventing its restoration. Also the error messages are not very clear or descriptive for the non-administrator user, which tends to generate confusion

**Recommendations to others considering pgAdmin:**

I would recommend it to those organizations or companies that are administering one or several Databases through the Command Environment, since with the Pgadmin Graphical administrator it increases the productivity of its workers, reducing the time dedicated to a Database with respect to the Environment. of Console. I would also recommend it for those companies or people that start with a Database administrator in the Postgress language since it is a very friendly and easy-to-install tool for Windows and Linux systems, which is part of the Postgrsql DBA Day, for administration of an infrastructure database

**What problems is pgAdmin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main benefit from my point of view is that I currently manage and administer several databases which are physically located in different Database servers. With Pgadmin I can centralize all the Databases in a single graphic environment, where I can visualize it in the same set without having to change the console and make connections through command to other servers. With respect to the knowledge of Pgadmin, it presents a learning curve which is short and facilitates the training of analysts who need to enter the process of administering a database. In addition, this institute has a geographic information system and pgadmin facilitates the work of developers, since they have special plug-ins for this type of tasks
