Pertavo is matter management and a secure client portal built for law firms of one to ten attorneys, and for small accounting firms. Everything files onto one matter: documents, client messages, deadlines, tasks, recorded time and the engagement letter. Opening a matter runs a conflict check against the firm and refuses to create it until somebody has read the result and acknowledged it — not a report you run afterwards. Ethical walls are enforced at the database, so an attorney who is not staffed on a matter cannot reach it. Engagement letters are generated from a template with the matter's own details merged in, filed on the matter, and sent for signature in the same screen. Clients sign in the browser and the signature is written into the PDF, so the signed file opens anywhere. Your clients get a portal of their own: they upload documents from a link rather than attaching them to email, see their own task list, and message the firm on the matter. Time is recorded against the matter at the rate it was charged, and invoices are drawn from the hours and expenses already on it. The price is flat per firm, from $29 a month — it does not change when you hire. There is a 30-day free trial and no card is required.
