"Automates Research with Speed, Needs Better Pricing"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

I like Perplexity because it helps me quickly find accurate information and explore technical topics efficiently. The automation tools are particularly valuable as they handle repetitive research tasks, gather information from multiple sources, and streamline workflows, making my research and development process faster and more productive. I appreciate that it allows me to compare different approaches and organize findings, which speeds up my research and helps me make informed development decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

One area that could be improved is the pricing. The premium plans can be expensive for individual developers and frequent users. More affordable pricing options or higher usage limits in the free tier would make Perplexity accessible to a wider range of users. The pricing could be more flexible, especially for individual developers and students who use Perplexity regularly but don't need all the premium features. Introducing lower-cost plans, pay-as-you-go options, or increasing the free tier limits would make it more accessible. Offering regional pricing based on different markets would also help more users adopt the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Perplexity to quickly find reliable information from multiple sources, summarize technical topics, and compare approaches. It automates research tasks, making the process faster and more productive, allowing me to focus on solving development problems instead of manual searching. "Transparent Sources and Great Follow-Up Questions Make It Feel Conversational"

5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

I like that it shows where the information came from. If something looks interesting, I can open the source right away instead of wondering if the AI just made it up. The follow-up questions are also surprisingly good, feels more like a conversation than a search engine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

Every now and then it misses a source that I know exists, or it leans too much on one website. It's not a huge issue, but for client work I still double check important stuff. Wouldn't mind if the Pro plan was a little cheaper either. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

We mostly use it when we need to get up to speed on a topic really fast. Whether it's researching a new industry, checking competitors or looking into a market, it gives us a solid starting point without spending ages jumping between websites. Its fast, and it saves us a ton of time in the early research stage. It's become one of those tabs that's almost always open during work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Source-Backed Answers That Save Time on Technical Research"

5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like most is how quickly I can get a complete answer without needing to open a dozen browser tabs. It doesn’t just give me a response—it also shows where the information came from, so I can go back to the original sources whenever I want to dig deeper. That makes me feel much more confident when I’m researching technical topics or weighing different options.

I use it often for programming questions, automation testing, API troubleshooting, and learning new technologies. It does a solid job of pulling information together from multiple sources and presenting it in a way that’s easy to understand and follow. The follow-up questions also feel natural, which lets me keep the conversation moving instead of having to start over each time.

The interface is clean and fast, and I appreciate that it gets straight to the point without a lot of clutter. I’ve also found it helpful for summarizing long articles and documentation when I don’t have time to read everything end to end.

Overall, it’s become one of the first tools I open whenever I need to research something, understand a new concept, or get a quick answer backed by reliable references. It saves me time almost every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

I don’t have any major complaints, but there are a few areas that could be improved. At times, the answers feel a bit too brief for more complex topics, so I end up asking a couple of follow-up questions to get the level of detail I’m looking for. On the flip side, for simpler questions it can occasionally provide more information than I actually need.

I’ve also noticed that when a topic is changing quickly, it’s still worth checking a few of the linked sources rather than relying only on the summary. It’s not a big issue since the references are right there, but I still prefer to verify important information.

Aside from those minor points, the overall experience has been smooth. It’s fast, easy to use, and the time it saves during research easily outweighs these small drawbacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

It has made my research much faster by pulling information from multiple sources into a single response. Instead of opening several websites, reading through articles, and trying to piece everything together on my own, I can get a clear, well-organized summary with links to the original sources in just a few seconds.

I use it often when I’m troubleshooting automation issues, learning new tools, comparing technologies, or trying to understand unfamiliar concepts. It gives me a solid starting point, and when I need more detail, I can jump into the cited sources without having to repeat the same search process.

It’s also been useful for summarizing long documentation and articles, which saves me a lot of time—especially when I need to grasp something quickly before getting back to work. Overall, it has reduced the time I spend searching for information and made it easier to find reliable answers backed by supporting references. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Current and Verifiable Perplexity is the Research Tool IT Professionals Need"

5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like best about Perplexity is how it combines the speed and conversational nature of an AI assistant with real-time web search, delivering sourced, up-to-date answers rather than relying solely on a static training dataset. Unlike traditional AI chatbots that can confidently produce outdated or hallucinated information, Perplexity actively searches the web for every query and presents answers with inline citations, so you can verify the source of every claim immediately without having to do a separate search to fact-check the response.

The answer quality for research heavy queries is particularly impressive. Whether I'm looking up recent security advisories, checking the latest software version, or researching a vendor's current product capabilities, Perplexity surfaces accurate, current information in a clean, readable format that gets straight to the point without unnecessary padding or generic filler content.

The follow-up question capability within the same thread is another standout feature. Being able to drill deeper into a topic conversationally asking follow-up questions that build on the previous answer without losing context makes it genuinely useful for complex, multi-layered research tasks that would otherwise require multiple separate searches across different browser tabs. For an IT professional who regularly needs current, accurate technical information quickly, that combination of real-time search and conversational depth is a significant productivity advantage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

While Perplexity is a genuinely useful research tool, there are some friction points worth highlighting from a power user perspective. The most noticeable limitation is answer inconsistency on complex or nuanced technical topics, the quality of responses can vary significantly depending on the quality and recency of the sources it pulls from. If the top search results for a query are outdated, incomplete, or from low-authority sources. Perplexity's answer reflects that without always flagging the reliability gap clearly enough.

The source selection can also be frustrating at times. Perplexity doesn't always prioritize the most authoritative or relevant sources official vendor documentation, peer-reviewed research, or primary sources are sometimes overlooked in favor of blog posts or aggregator sites that summarize the same information less accurately. For technical queries where precision matters, that source quality inconsistency requires additional verification that sometimes undermines the time-saving benefit.

The free tier limitations are another genuine pain point. Features like file upload, advanced model selection, and higher query limits are locked behind the Pro subscription, which feels restrictive for users who want to use it seriously as a daily research tool without committing to a paid plan.

Compared to dedicated AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude, Perplexity's ability to handle complex, muti-step reasoning tasks or generate structured long-form content is more limited. It excels at search-grounded answers but falls shorts when the task requires deeper analytical thinking, content generation, or working through a problem iteratively over a long conversation thread. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Perplexity solves one of the most frustrating limitations of traditional AI assistants the reliance on a static training dataset that becomes outdated the moment it is compiled. For anyone working in a fast-moving field like IT security, where threat landscapes, software versions, vendors advisories, and best practices change constantly, an AI tool that can only reference information up to a fixed cutoff date has significant practical limitations. Perplexity eliminates that problem entirely by grounding every response in real-time web search which means the answer are current, sourced, and verifiable rather than potentially months or years out of date.

From a day-to-day IT administration perspective, it solves the research fragmentation problem. Previously getting a reliable answer to a technical question meant opening multiple browser tabs, skimming through vendor documentation, cross-referencing forum posts, and piecing together an answer manually. Perplexity compresses that entire workflow into a single conversational query that returns a structured, sourced answer in seconds, with inline citations that make verification straightforward rather than a separate exercise.

The benefit for security related research is particularly significant. When investigating a new CVE, checking whether a vendor has released a patch, or validating current best practices for a specific configuration, having a tool that searches authoritative sources in real time and summarizes the findings clearly saves meaningful time compared to traditional search engine workflows.

Overall Perplexity has become a reliable first stop for any research task that requires current information, reducing the time spent on manual search and verification while maintaining the source transparency needed to trust and act on the answers in a professional IT environment. "Concise, Cited Answers That Make Research Faster"

5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like best about Perplexity is its ability to provide concise, well-structured answers with cited sources, making it easy to verify information without opening multiple websites. The follow-up question feature keeps research conversational, while the focus modes help narrow down searches to academic papers, web results, or specific sources. It saves me significant time when researching technical topics and comparing information across multiple references. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

While Perplexity is excellent for research, it occasionally provides outdated or less relevant sources for rapidly changing topics. Some responses are overly concise and require additional follow-up question prompts to get deeper explanations. I’d also like more control over source filtering, improved citation quality for niche topics, and stronger personalization so it can remember my preferred research style across sessions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Perplexity, I had to search across multiple websites, compare information manually, and verify sources, which made research time-consuming. Now it consolidates reliable information with citations into a single response, allowing me to research technical concepts and academic topics faster. This has reduced my research time by approximately 40–50% while improving the accuracy and efficiency of my work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean Interface, Fast Answers, and Reliable Sources for Research"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like best about Perplexity is its simple and clean interface, which makes finding information quick and easy. The AI provides direct answers and includes sources, so I can verify information without searching through multiple websites. It performs well for research, study, and learning new topics, and the responses are usually fast. I also got access through my Airtel subscription, which made it a cost-effective way to use advanced AI features. Getting started was easy, and I was able to use it effectively without much learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

One thing I dislike about Perplexity is that some AI-generated answers can be too brief or occasionally miss important details, so I still need to verify information from the cited sources. The free version also has limitations on advanced features. I would like to see more detailed explanations for complex topics and better integration with productivity tools to make research workflows smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before I started using Perplexity, I often had to dig through multiple websites to find reliable information for my studies and projects. Now I can get clear, summarized answers in one place, along with source links, which saves me time and makes research much easier. It helps me quickly grasp new topics, double-check information, and track down useful references when I need them. And because I access it through my Airtel subscription, I also get extra features at no additional cost, which improves the overall value for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Source-Cited AI Answers That Make Research Faster and More Reliable"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I like most about Perplexity is its ability to combine AI-generated answers with source citations. Instead of just providing a response, it shows where the information comes from, which makes it much easier to verify facts and perform research. Provides source-backed answers with links to references. Summarizes information from multiple sources into a concise response. Speeds up research by reducing the need to visit numerous websites. Handles follow-up questions well and maintains context. Delivers a more focused experience compared to traditional search engines. The most valuable feature is the source citation capability. When researching technical topics, market trends, or troubleshooting issues, being able to quickly verify information and access the original sources saves a significant amount of time and increases confidence in the results. The biggest benefit is faster and more reliable research. It helps me find relevant information quickly while still allowing me to validate the underlying sources when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

The limitation is that while Perplexity is great for quickly gathering information, I still need to review the cited sources for important decisions or detailed technical research. The summaries are usually helpful, but they don't always capture every nuance from the original content.

The combination of AI-powered search and source citations makes it significantly more efficient than traditional search workflows for most research tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Perplexity solves the problem of spending too much time searching through multiple websites to find reliable information. Instead of manually opening several search results, reading articles, and comparing sources, Perplexity provides a summarized answer along with supporting references. Speeds up research and information gathering. Reduces the need to browse through multiple websites. Provides source citations for easier fact-checking and verification. Helps summarize complex topics into understandable insights. Makes follow-up research more efficient through conversational interactions. In my day-to-day work, I use it for researching technical topics, exploring new tools, gathering product information, and finding quick answers to operational or development-related questions. It helps me get relevant information much faster than a traditional search engine workflow. The biggest benefit is productivity. Tasks that would normally require reviewing multiple articles can often be completed in a few minutes, while still providing enough source visibility to validate important information when needed. "Perplexity: Detailed, Trustworthy Research with Clear Source Citations"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

It’s best AI tool for research because it provides reliable sources and data. For in-depth research and writing research papers, I always prefer Perplexity since it gives me detailed, trustworthy information and clearly cites its sources. Overall, it’s one of the most useful tools for research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

I dislike that I can’t use this tool to write polished emails, presentation content, or creative writing. Presentation content needs in-depth research, and while I can research with this AI tool, I still can’t get good, well-written content for presentations, emails, or LinkedIn social media posts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

It solves my problem by giving me reliable data from their web search engine results. It helps me research faster by providing trustworthy sources that I can check to confirm whether the research is true and whether the content they’ve given is accurate. Overall, it mainly solves my problems when I’m doing research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Technical Answers and Professional Writing, All in One Place"

5/5

What do you like best about Perplexity?

What I value most about Perplexity Pro is how quickly it gets me to a reliable, sourced answer without having to sift through multiple websites. In my role at Alarm Masters, I regularly need to look up technical information about alarm systems — things like panel compatibility, sensor troubleshooting, or specific monitoring protocols — and Perplexity gives me a clear, accurate answer with cited sources in seconds rather than making me piece together information from three different search results. The cited sources are important in my line of work because I need to be confident the information is accurate before passing it on to a customer or including it in case notes. The Pro version also lets me switch between AI models depending on what I need — I use Claude Sonnet for writing tasks like drafting professional emails or cleaning up case notes, and Sonar when I need real-time search results for technical questions. That flexibility in one single tool has replaced a lot of back-and-forth between different platforms. The file upload feature has also been useful — I can upload a PDF document and ask Perplexity specific questions about its content, which has saved a lot of time when reviewing customer contracts or internal documentation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perplexity?

My main frustration is with the daily usage limits on Pro Search and Deep Research — on busy workdays when I'm handling a high volume of customer cases, I can go through my credits faster than expected, and hitting that limit mid-day creates real friction in the workflow. It's not a dealbreaker but it's noticeable when you rely on the tool consistently throughout the day. I've also found that for very niche technical topics specific to alarm monitoring equipment, the answers can sometimes be more general than I need — Perplexity is excellent at pulling together widely available information but occasionally falls short on highly specialized product-level details that aren't well documented online. The interface on mobile is also less comfortable to work with than the desktop version — when I need to draft or review something on my phone between calls, the experience isn't as smooth as I'd like, particularly when working with longer text Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Perplexity solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem Perplexity solves for me is the time it used to take to find reliable answers and produce polished written communication. Before using it, looking up a technical question about an alarm panel or monitoring protocol meant opening multiple tabs, reading through forum threads, and manually piecing together the relevant information — a process that could take ten to fifteen minutes for a single question. Now I type the question into Perplexity Pro and get a clear, cited answer in under a minute, which means I can respond to customers faster and with more confidence. On the writing side, it's become the tool I use every time I need to draft a professional email or clean up notes from a customer interaction. Rather than spending extra time rewording things myself, I paste in a rough draft and ask Perplexity to improve the tone and clarity — the result is consistently professional and saves me a meaningful amount of time across the course of a workday. Over more than a year of daily use, it has genuinely become one of the tools I rely on most, alongside Salesforce, to get my work done efficiently Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
