PerformYard has been an incredibly helpful tool for the Legislature's staff offices. Having performance reviews live in one website and being able to track goals and successes over time is very useful. The Feedback feature is also a very helpful tool for our employees to give each other recognition or kudos for jobs well done. The main thing I dislike is the inability for office directors to view reviews until they are either fully completed or it is their turn to sign off. Building forms to match previously used performance reviews is also not always the most intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I found Perform Yard to be user-friendly platform for managing performance reviews. It is clean and easy to navigate, which makes the entire process smooth. There’s a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, especially for folks who aren’t used to tools like this.

My organization would really appreciate if there was a way to do bulk actions, like bulk close cycles, or set cycles to be automatically created on their own every month.

I would appreciate a bit more follow-through from the Perform Yard system. For example, a monthly reminder to check in and review my goal progress would be helpful. I am profoundly disappointed with PerformYard, particularly in their renewal process, which I found to be misleading and deceitful. The sales team was not transparent about the renewal terms, and as a result, I unknowingly ended up locked into a three-year contract. When I reached out to address this issue, I provided documentation clearly showing how the renewal was misleading, yet upper management refused to entertain any discussion about ending the term early. Their lack of flexibility and unwillingness to even acknowledge my concerns speaks volumes about their approach to customer service.

Beyond the renewal issue, the platform itself is not as user-friendly as advertised and is not well-suited for small businesses that simply want to conduct annual reviews and basic performance plans. The system is unnecessarily complex—something as straightforward as one-on-one counseling requires creating templates, assigning templates, and then starting templates instead of just having a simple option for direct documentation.

If you are a small business looking for a streamlined performance management tool, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. PerformYard’s aggressive renewal tactics, lack of transparency, and cumbersome user experience make it a poor choice.
