What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

The software works.

1. I can rely on the system as setup and configured time and time again because it doesn't auto-update. This makes validation and compliance simple.

2. I can create project after project based on a configuration and validate it by comparing the configuration download. - validation can be done once on a configuration and never need be done again unless I change the configuration.

3. While everything can be configured, that makes me thing "Too Much Work," the help and support system is always up to date by Perforce, so I know I won't run into unsolvable problems.

4. Since the system has been around, every question I can think of has been answered and collated into either video or help file.

5. All compliance considerations are covered. FDA Part 11, ISO, everything is covered. I have yet to run into a feature needed that can't be had. Pretty much as the click of a button.

6. Report generation is straight forward.

7. Import from WS Word is a snap

8. XML import and export is even easier

9. Generating tabular lists are easy

10. Finding anything in a project is easy.

11. I can make Helix ALM perform for document control, system development and software dev pipeline.

12. Are you still reading this?

13. The price is very affordable

14. Sales is very responsive with the right information and documents for me to do my financial requests and projections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

If I had to make some improvement I would like:

1. Cross project relationships. I want to have an SOP project, a WI project, development projects and validation projects. If I could relate SOP items from the SOP project to WI items in the WI project then create relationships into development projects to show how our SOPs are followed during development and validation. "Workflow Management Using HelixALM"
5/5
What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

The ability to create customized, secure workflows that are accessible both on our internal network but also accessibly via the internet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

The data import tools are somewhat limited, in particular bulk updates. We had to develop a customer tool to import merge updates. I also think the reporting tools are somewhat limited and difficult to customize. SQL Based reporting is powerful but difficult to setup and maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

Helix ALM comes in with outstanding capabilities to customize as per industry need, which enables us to showcase traceability across various development artifacts (Business/Functional Requirements to Test Scenarios/Scripts through to Issues). The customization enables us to implement processes that comply with the regulatory needs (mostly 21 CFR Part 11). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

I think Test Management capabilities like a forecasting module with extensive off-the-shelf capabilities would be an advantage. Currently, this can be achieved through customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A great tool to produce quality products while minimizing risks to a great extent."

What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

Helix Alm, contains functions that are quite relevant and interesting, which could be very useful for most companies, dedicated to any subject, all due to its versatility, one of these outstanding tools that are necessary and key, which this software offers, is that it maintains the information of the risk management that it possesses in an incredible way, especially in web applications, since its error management flow is totally effective in every aspect, being one of the points that most attract my attention. What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

You should consider an update for integrations with other platforms that allow electronic document control, in order to promote better performance when using this software, to carry out a consistent administration, mentioning that the configurations can be simpler in the backend, that is, It allows customization but its user interface is not very intuitive, since it does not offer useful information regarding the system's functionalities. "One of the best configuration management software out there"

What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

I like where you have the provision to install a proxy server for better performance. So I commonly used them. Improved file search features. The data is stored in RDBMS which is perfect for the place I work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

There is no provision for electronic signatures which I think is a huge disadvantage. The user interface sometimes has a lot of bugs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool for collaboration, but it would be better if it were faste."
5/5
What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

Instant update to use the latest version to make it easy to create new users and licenses, update the fields and text easier to adapt to project requirements, capture errors and testing in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

The software part that I like least, is Text Editing. Copy and past seem to be a waste of progress in the line and a built-in bulleted list is inconsistent and it is incredibly awkward to try to create or edit a table. The editor is still available, but for a text editor today it is below minimum requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Large Backlog and Multiple Project Management "

What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

My favorite part is how we have been able to handle our Backlog in HelixALM. We previously had 3 different programs and multiple spreadsheets. With HelixALM I have been able to bring the entire Backlog into one 'source of truth' . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

The reports are outdated and very hard to malipulate a template for a basic user. I would really like to see WORD Templates that are easier to customize so they can be distributed.

I would also like to see the ability to move templates for Defect/Issues, User Stories/Tasks, etc.. from one project type to another. For Instance, I would like to use User Stories in my Traditional Template without having to create them manually. I would like to simply have use of all of the 'types' within any project type. Response from Rich Clyde of Perforce ALM

Thanks for taking the time to review Helix ALM and for your suggestions.

Regarding the Word templates, I was not sure if you were aware of the existing Word templates functionality or if you felt the existing Word templates could be easier to use. Starting in version 2016.0, users have the ability to export all item types to a Microsoft Word output or PDF output. Use Word templates that contain tags and field codes to control the formatting and data exported to the resulting Word document. These templates are configured in Microsoft Word and can be uploaded to the server to share with all ALM users. It is easy to move the Word templates between Helix ALM projects.

"Outstanding Product with Superior Customer Service"
5/5
What do you like best about Perforce ALM?

I consider Helix ALM an extremely powerful workflow engine with excellent automation and dashboard capabilities. While it supports ALM out of the box, we also use this product for many other workflows to support our business. With integrated Kanban, it is perfect for agile development. I view Helix as the best Price / Performer on the market today. A "warm knowledgeable body" is reachable in customer service within minutes consistently if needed. This is just not the norm these days, especially with larger companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perforce ALM?

Would love to see a mobile app in the future to increase the level of accessibility. An integrated chat would also be cool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
