I love that PerfectIt helps me catch errors and inconsistencies that I might miss when I'm reviewing a book. Inconsistency is the biggest bugbear for editors and PerfectIt acts like my safety net. When editing large publications with masses of titles and terms, it's easy to miss things, no matter how diligent you are. The ability to work to in-built house style guides, or create your own, is also invaluable when working for major international organisations. PerfectIt is the perfect tool to ensure consistency in a document. I edit scientific manuscripts and use PerfectIt regularly to find and correct all the small little details I might miss on my own (and some editing apps as well); Hyphens, dashes, capitalization, spacing issues, inconsistent spelling, italics, abbreviations used before the expanded form, inconsistent abbreviations, abbreviations not defined, abbreviations not used--none of them escape PerfectIt. I have had some issues with the PerfectIt Word Plug-in when working with multiple word documents simultaneously. But I have found a work-around, where I wait till the last moment and close all the documents but one before I use the plug-in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that you can set PerfectIt with custom styles, allowing you to check not just for grammar and spelling, but for adherence to our in-house style. On my computer at least, PerfectIt highlights problem areas in the running text in a pale grey that doesn't jump out to me right away. When I click on the flagged words or phrases in the PerfectIt panel to see where they occur in the document, I find I have to spend more time scanning the page to find the greyed-out section than I would like. Upside is that e.g. reference lists are skipped in the checking. While the text is checked for the occurrence of more than one definition for abbreviations, it alerts to abbreviations being defined in the abstract, the main text, and in Figure and/or Table captions (which is correct in many cases), but does not alert to abbreviations being used in the main text but only defined in other parts of the text.
