## About PDQ Deploy & Inventory
PDQ Deploy & Inventory is a self-hosted, agentless endpoint management and patch automation solution that helps IT administrators scan, organize, and maintain Windows devices on on-prem and VPN-connected networks. Common use cases include: automated third-party patching and Windows Cumulative Update deployment, software inventory and compliance auditing, dynamic device group management, PowerShell script execution across targeted endpoints, and recurring maintenance automation for on-prem/on-network Windows fleets. PDQ Deploy & Inventory consists of two complementary tools sold under a single license. PDQ Inventory scans Windows devices across the network to collect hardware specifications, installed applications, OS versions, Active Directory attributes, and custom data defined via PowerShell Scanner. It automatically groups devices into dynamic collections based on criteria such as software version, disk space, or AD membership, and syncs with Active Directory to keep computer records current. PDQ Deploy uses those collections as deployment targets to push software, run scripts, and automate patch management on a defined schedule and silently, without interrupting end users. The Package Library provides 500+ prebuilt packages covering popular third-party applications and Windows Cumulative Updates for workstations and servers, maintained and tested by PDQ. Key features include: - Automated patch management: Schedule recurring deployments of third-party software and Windows Cumulative Updates to targeted device groups, with heartbeat-triggered retries for offline machines - Dynamic Collections: Device groups that update automatically based on defined inventory criteria, enabling precise and up-to-date deployment targeting - Custom packages and scripting: Build multi-step deployment packages, deploy executables/installers/msi packages, and execute PowerShell or batch scripts across targeted devices for configuration changes, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks - Reporting: Prebuilt and custom reports with scheduled, automated email delivery — commonly used for compliance audits and management reporting - Central Server mode: Connects multiple admin consoles to a single PDQ server, allowing IT teams to collaboratively manage packages, schedules, and deployment histories from their workstations Unlike PDQ Connect, PDQ's separate cloud-native, agent-based product for remote and hybrid fleets, PDQ Deploy & Inventory is purpose-built for on-prem and VPN-connected environments where devices are network-accessible. PDQ was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company develops device management software purpose-built for Windows-focused IT teams, ranging from solo sysadmins to mid-sized IT departments. PDQ's product portfolio includes PDQ Deploy & Inventory for on-prem environments, cloud-native PDQ Connect for remote and hybrid fleet management, SmartDeploy for Windows imaging, SimpleMDM for Apple device management, ISL for remote access and remote desktop support, and PDQ Detect for vulnerability management. PDQ Deploy & Inventory is used by IT teams in education, government, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance. Licensed per administrator with unlimited endpoint access — not per device.

## PDQ Deploy & Inventory Reviews
 ### 1. Excellent Simple On-Network Deployment Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darin H. | IT Helpdesk Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2025

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Fast. Able to deploy using IP address and rapidly query installed apps for audits.

Multiple ways to setup credentials (deploy as other users, as admin, etc).

Relatively clean interface with advanced options but a straightforward path when you just need to query or deploy to a single endpoint.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

UI is a bit cluttered and scripting/automation could be a little simpler to build and test. Highly dependent on Active Directory services and DNS. If you have iffy DNS you will need to use IP address to bypass DNS queries that bring blank results.

If PDQ Deploy and Inventory integrated with PDQ Agent Services which are independent of your network and simply require an Internet connection, the product would be perfect.

As it is this is a part of your deployment and audit plan, not a "kitchen sink" solution that is completely self-contained.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product allows us to audit existing deployed devices, and rapidly deploy and uninstall apps across our network.

 ### 2. Easy to deploy patch to the remote desktop and server

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

just click click and finish much easy to use and user friendly

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

no cross platform Operation System support only it support windows no option for linux

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

helps to push bulk number of application to the all connected desktop laptops and server

 ### 3. Extremely useful, not great performance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Farming | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

It makes deploying software and scripts across our environment of 300+ computers very convenient and easy to manage. The software itself is easy to deploy and creating new packages is a nice and easy step by step approach.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

The interface is very clunky. The program sometimes sits at the loading splash screen for minutes and then fails to launch. When it does open, clicking between screens isn't very smooth (we're using it on a Azure VM with considerable resources).

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We roll out new computers constantly, several per month. We have a set of standard applications that need to get deployed, and PDQ makes that process easy. When we need to push out an update, new script, or a simple shortcut, we go to PDQ and can usually count on it achieving that.

 ### 4. Great Program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa D. | PC Support Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

This program makes it super easy to deploy software to various laptops in the organization. It is also very handy and has many features built in.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

It's confusing and sometimes hard to understand what exactly I can do with it.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's making the process of setting up a user's laptop much quicker and easier.

 ### 5. Excellent customer support and weekly talk/training sessions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Deploy and Inventory work together to help automate many update functions. Tied to our AD computer directory, it is easy to roll out new devices and software.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Interface is still 1995. Needs an upgrade on look and feel of interface.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patches to most software are handled automatically. Works without major intervention by administrators.

 ### 6. PDQ is a very good tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

software deployments are excellent and hassle free, Inventory collections provide timely information. PDQ forums and helpdesk is also good, I use PDQ every day.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

the wake-PC for when the PC is offline doesn''t work

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PC audits of existing software, versions of software, types of hardware in Inventory is beneficial for me. We also use PDQ deploy for our SOE build which makes deployment of our base image easy.

 ### 7. G2 PDQ Deploy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricky F. | Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I like the simplistic approach towards applilcation deployment

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Time to live could be shorter regarding the permissions, apps and database settings

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralize patch management

 ### 8. Excellent software deployment tool, if on-prem

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael Y. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

PDQ is really easy to use. It is simple to build packages of individual steps and push these out to computers. There are lots of options/conditions which can apply to an entire package or individual step regarding why/when it should run.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Deploy only works with Windows computers, not Mac or Linux. It also needs to establish inbound connections to these Windows computers, so that limits your target to either directly connected computers on an internal network, or computers on a corporate VPN. It cannot deploy over the internet, like Microsoft InTune can. Nor will it work if you use a modern VPN which has some sort of proxy between the client and the PDQ server.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using PDQ Deploy I relied upon GPO for deployments, which is very limited with little to no reporting. I needed something more powerful, but way less complex and cheaper than SCCM. PDQ Deploy can push deployments on demand, or scheduled and works best when paired with PDQ Inventory.

 ### 9. PDQ Deploy Saves Time and Money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate B. | Network Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

PDQ gives us insight and depth into our Windows environment. We can ensure that machines are patched regularly and notified when they fall behind. Software deployment is generally streamlined, and I can easily hit 600 workstations with new software without physically touching any machine. Finally, the ability to be up and running in about 30 minutes from the download was a great benefit when we started.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

For me, the only big one is that we have several machines that are local credentials only and are not connected to AD. I wish I could deploy packages with the Inventory user. That way it would run with the appropriate credentials each time.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PDQ Deploy is solving our greatest issue of ensuring that machines are patched and up to date for security vulnerabilities. It was the most flexible software to deploy and manage software in our Windows environment.

 ### 10. Great RMM software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2023

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I like that it puts all your endpoints in the same place to manage and compare systems.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I don't like that pricing is per admin instead of endpoint count and that you are not able to get a trial without getting in touch with sales.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

IT helps with asset management and keeping track of sytems operating systems hardware and other critical system information for endpoints.

 ### 11. PDQ Works for Us

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

We can deploy and configure remote machines with a fair amount of ease after we set PDQ Deploy up. We are responsible for sites spread over 16,000+ square miles (over 25,000 Km) in Texas. We also have smaller remote locations all over the mainland US. We initially used the Free version but have changed to the paid version for all of the extra

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

We were really hoping for PDQ to help us with Windows Updates, but it doesn't seem able to do that in a meaningful way. We haven't looked too closely at setting up the Windows update part, but it seems to lack completeness and is rather complicated.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used scripts, Group Policy, and manual installation to roll out printers and updates. Many 3rd party applications were only rarely getting updated, if at all.
We are improving our security "scores" by keeping 3rd party apps. We can also push out printer installs without using Group Policy or manually connecting to hosts.

 ### 12. PDQ has helped us a lot keeping track of our assets and who's using them.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bethany G. | Desktop Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I like that you can keep track of who has what installed and create special deployment queues for people missing certain software.
Also, automatic updates of software packages are a godsend.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I dislike that when deployments fail on occasion, the error codes aren't always very helpful. They'll have a number and sometimes will just say that the deployment failed which, makes troubleshooting difficult.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PDQ is helping us keep track of what inventory our users have and what they have installed on their laptops. We can install and remove things remotely and often silently without needing to hassle people.

 ### 13. Quick software deployment and manage updates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Schedule deployment, heartbeat option. When devices are alive packages will be installed instantly. Managing updates is great, while it automatically updates all schedules and deploy latest versions.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I can't really think about a downside. Perhaps because computers need to be in the office or run over VPN in order to have it fully working. pc's changing IP addresses often have to be rescanned first.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It automatically keeps our environment up to date, without to much effort. We can leave it running knowing all clients will eventually be updated, by the packes you deploy.

 ### 14. Easy software deployment tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Compared with another product, it is easy to deploy new software and there is also a library with common software updates including windows patch updates.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

If you import the machines from AD, you will need the machine IP when you deploy software to them that are connected with VPN.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used KACE SMA for software deployment previously, and it has some limitation and takes longer time to deploy (sometimes it gets time-out)
With PDQ Deploy, it seems easier to deploy software to the user machines.

 ### 15. Great Application! HUGE Time Saver!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

The best thing about PDQ is the time savings and not having to interrupt users in order to install applications.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I do wish there were more "pre-defined" packages or templates. For example, deployments for Crowdstrike or Sentinel One would have been helpful during rollout.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First and foremost is solves the problem of being able to rollout software quickly and effectively even if you are a small IT shop. Time savings are awesome!

 ### 16. PDQ offer a solid experience with deploying software, Need Inventory with it for auto-updates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alain T. | System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Deploy software relatively easily once you find all the silent install parameters

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Its errors and DNS related issues could be improved

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote update for software, keeping track of inventory

 ### 17. PDQ Application - You need this...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fergal M. | Head of IT Infrastructure, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I had never used PDQ until recently. A nice and snappy application for deployment of applications and scripts. we use it to turn on over 2000 endpoints with bitlocker encryption

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Nothing at all at this point in time....

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned, we were able to setup encryption on laptops /desktops to meet our compliancy standards

 ### 18. Easy to use, great overall experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Deploy is pretty simple to use and very powerful. Price point is fantastic for the value you get. Even the free version probably covers 90% of what people need.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Can slow down over time, so maintenance of the database is needed. Could be something that's automated and certainly needs looking at.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very easy to deploy software anywhere in the organisation, helps keep you up to date with patches as well with the autodownloads and scheduling. Saved us a load of time with manual installs etc.

 ### 19. Extremely simple to set up.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I like being able to deploy to groups of computers at once.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I wish the licensing were a bit different. I want to be able to move licenses as many times as I need to.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem solved is being able to push images to groups of machines from my desk.

 ### 20. Very powerfull software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Niko D. | IT Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Such a help when deploying new machines with built-in packages and software packages we've created.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

I dislike nothing about PDQ products. It's the best sysadmin tool out there.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves a lot of time and makes deploying software across our whole company easy.

 ### 21. PDQ deploy is the beat software for automatic your IT task

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

it's incredible efficient tool helping IT to role out new applications to user desktops and laptops throughout the organization

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

without PDQ inventory you will not have visiblity to review you task update

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deplying instant updates for multiple applications including windows updates very efficiently

 ### 22. Excellent Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

With PDQ Deploy, it is easy to deploy, update and manage applications and commands.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

Sometimes managing multiple deployment schedules can be challenging, but that is likely more of a configuration issue on our side.

**Recommendations to others considering PDQ Deploy & Inventory:**

PDQ Deploy will replace other deployment tools. We currently use GPO for some application deployments, but PDQ can efficiently perform this. The only concern is that the machine has to be locally accessible, not just have internet connectivity.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing third party application deployment and updating

 ### 23. Easy to use and very helpful tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2021

**What do you like best about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

The tools simplyness, quick to learn (if you practise "learning by doing") and the support is fast and there are a lot of information and help in the forum.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

the little things that dont work. but the issues are qickly solved by support.
We manualy have to open the firewall before we can deploy, after deploy of the windows environment

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we deploy all tools and scripts to compleatly make the computers ready for our users.

 ### 24. Great software for easy and fast deployment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

It was easy to set up and use for a quick software deployment. They also have an inventory feature that helps scour the network for devices so you don't have to integrate with AD or other product.

**What do you dislike about PDQ Deploy & Inventory?**

nothing specifically about the product. It is not great for poorly managed environments.

**Recommendations to others considering PDQ Deploy & Inventory:**

the free trial is very helpful in determining if you need to purchase it for the other features.

**What problems is PDQ Deploy & Inventory solving and how is that benefiting you?**

automated software deployment that didn't require user interaction
