We've seen many enhancements over the past few years, which shows that they take feedback seriously. Additionally, I appreciate the ability to house international employees in one system, which is a significant improvement over our previous system where we needed separate logins for different regions. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** Paylocity does have limitations in functionality, specifically around platform customization. Many features are standard and unable to be customized, specifically with reporting, automatic messaging, and workflows. The system doesn't allow you to manipulate and combine some fields in reporting, so you have to run multiple reports, and then pull them together through Excel. Having the ability to pull any field into a single report directly from the system would help with efficiency, and for those who don't have strong skills in Excel. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity helps us process payroll efficiently and accurately, manage workforce planning, and file taxes for us. It allows us to house international employees in one system, unlike ADP, which required separate logins for US and CAN employees. ### 2. I like that there are multiple modules I can use and connect the information that I need. Also, the support teams who answer the phones are helpful even if they don't know the answers. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** Some of the modules are difficult to use and are not very intuitive. I they are getting better with updates. The benefits module is difficult with too many separate things that need to be done to complete an enrollment. The thought that I have to fill out a spreadsheet, submit it which never works, then they don't get the information correct and I have triple check everything, then have to go to another place to actually have it integrate with benefits it more work than passing out papers sometimes. The performance module needs updating for HR use. The actual performance module needs to be updated. Recruiting - is okay. HR and Payroll is getting better with the upgrades they are making. I would change platforms but it is too much work at this point. The support team is very helpful but the training doesn't seem consistent. I'm sure it takes years to learn a system like this. They are always patience and very nice. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think with consistently trying to upgrade the modules - this benefits me. There are some definite quirks to the system that I just have figured out how to work around them. I also really find it beneficial to have so many types of reports I'm able to either use a template of or create my own. This is most beneficial when pulling company wide employee information. I've used ADP in the past with a different employer, and it was such a convoluted website, I feel like we were never able to fully overcome the learning curve. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** I do notice that Paylocity's website does incur technical difficulties more often. When this happens, the website won't load, or loads very slowly. I sometimes receive a blank page with an error code after the log in process. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity's reporting & analytics are the biggest problem solver for us. For example, when the One Big Beautiful Bill was passed and we had to calculate our employee's 2025 overtime, Paylocity quickly came out with the OB3 Qualified OT report. It also offers a lot of reports, which is helpful. Their customer service is generally very helpful, although sometimes it depends on the knowledge base of the person you’re speaking with. Running payroll is very easy, and overall they provide good service and products. We run a weekly payroll, and it goes smoothly every week. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** There are too many new reports, while the older reports are much better: they’re easier to run and they provide better results. At times, they make a lot of changes that they call “improvements,” but they don’t feel necessary. Also, they don’t always inform us about all the changes they’re making (formats, reports, etc.). The changes just appear, and then you have to deal with them afterward. They should communicate more clearly and consistently about what’s changing. The help desk is okay, but sometimes you’re at the mercy of the person who answers the call and their knowledge base. We recently added a new company, and the implementation was not handled well overall—from sales, to implementation, to adding new team members. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are helping us with our job cost processing. ### 10. One of the things that can be a pain is making adjustments to vacation and sick accruals. Sometimes they take a while to actually process so I have to go back to the record several times to see if it took. It's not immediate, and it feels counter intuitive. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** We love the FSA team at Paylocity. Lately, some of the backup we are uploading is getting rejected whereas in the past, the backup was accepted. It looks like you got more strict in accepting medical FSA charges. ### 11. They made sure everything lined up smoothly, preventing any user frustration. The performance review section is great, and I also enjoy the easy function to journal during one-on-one conversations with employees. It's easy to track in the system and there's the flexibility to make entries viewable to the employee or keep them private to the supervisor. I also appreciate being able to build performance reviews from scratch or use built-in features, which helps us share them with the employee ahead of their review. Lastly, the seamless way for supervisors to approve or edit timesheets and the lack of a need for a separate tracking system for journaling is fantastic. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** I've only run into one recurring situation, and I don't know if it's just on my mobile device, or sometimes I find it in the browser as well. But when I'm going into request time off, sometimes the way the calendars show up on the screen, it's really hard to maneuver to the next month. I'm not seeing the arrow to maneuver to the next month. Or if the window isn't completely open, it doesn't give me the submit option. So sometimes I have to close out the calendar, go back in, and then I see the submit option. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity saves us time by eliminating manual processes for open enrollment and card entry, ensuring accurate deductions and a seamless way to manage and approve timesheets. ### 15. It is simplistic and not complicated for either party to use. Things are pretty straightforward to find. It's less expensive than other systems, which is great. The customer service is also a plus since it's easy to get a hold of someone, which reduces frustrations for my team. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** I find the reporting and performance management and goals aspects of Paylocity could be improved. The reports are often generated incomplete, and the standard reports do not provide enough information, and you almost always need to edit them. There is also a $250 charge for them to do a custom report... The performance management/goals sections are not user friendly and there is no automation to them, especially for a 30/60/90-day review for a new hire - that needs to be sent manually. An automated process would be nice **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Paylocity for payroll, time, labor, and full HRIS needs. It reduces manual work with EDI files for benefits and automations for recruiting, ensures compliance, and is less frustrating for the team. Overall, the system does what we need it to do. Some more advanced features would be nice as we continue to grow, but it works for our current needs. ### 16. We use it for payroll, HR, compensation, time and labor, benefits, and COBRA. Having everything in one place makes it much easier to navigate and accomplish tasks efficiently. Our customer service represenative is amazing and so helpful when we have questions or need help with something. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** Our company uses 11 different pay rates, and currently, there is no way to update these rates except by doing it manually, which takes a lot of time. Paylocity is aware of this issue and is working on a solution, but they have not been able to resolve it yet. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity is working to solve the problem of not being able to review pay rate requests for additional rates. Right now everything is entered manually by our HR administrator after its been approved by the CFO in a spreadsheet. We are working with Paylocity to get this fixed but no solution has been what we need yet. ### 18. Any issue that needs attention is resolved within a short amount of time....like a day or two. Tax issues do need more time and attention so I don't expect a quick turnaround, but Paylocity service does follow up if more time is needed. When calling Paylocity service, I do appreciate the revised phone tree. I can now speak with someone dedicated to reporting instead of service having to get back to me with an answer. This was also helpful when we were going through 360 vendor integration. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** I would like to see Paylocity create a community page or use the Client Hub to notify clients of any outages. I find it cumbersome to call service, wait on hold for about 30 minutes just to find out that an outage occurred but the system is back up and running. This would save me time as well as Paylocity service. I would like to see more refined communication when a $1 million wire has been received by Paylocity. Paylocity does a great job in notifying the client of a needed wire for $1 million payroll or payroll tax by emailing the wire information using the Proofpoint secure link in addition to a phone call and email directed to me. But when I need confirmation of the received $1 million wire from Paylocity, it is "crickets." I hear nothing. I must reach out to Paylocity via phone or email to find out if the money was received. This process needs more transparency. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity has combined two different software products into one for our organization. Before Paylocity, our organization was handling both a timekeeping system and a payroll system. Now both work under the same platform and our employees have one password instead of two. ### 19. Marc Stephan is also fantastic; he responds quickly and ensures we get the answers we need, if he doesn't have them on hand. Tami makes sure everything goes smoothly and has even had reports created on our behalf for issues or concerns we had discussed. She consistently goes above and beyond. Paylocity and the team worked hard to assist with a smooth setup and transition, even though we are a very complicated business with several different pay types in multiple states. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** In the Timecards, it would be great if the team member's supervisor was listed there so we weren't constantly going to other places to get that information. Our employees are not tech-savvy, and we have a lot of older employees, so having a mobile-friendly app that is intuitive is helpful to reduce time spent on navigating the site. All implementation managers suck at communicating. Sometimes things are better conveyed over the phone and it feels like no one has a direct line or a phone line. It used to be great customer support too, but that is not the case anymore. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** How hard it is to get through to Customer Support or get specialized assistance. Customer support has really taken a turn for the worse. I've had to wait for answers to important questions because of the very long wait times. This has caused huge problems when trying to get answers to payroll processing issues and the like. Also, the time to get answers back related to tax issues or notices we have received, is also ridiculously long. Many times, a quick phone call could resolve an issue/question but customer service will not call customers, yet we are having to wait on hold for upwards of an hour to get through to a person, only to be put on hold again. Getting anything done AFTER the set-up is nearly impossible. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Paylocity for payroll processing, tax payment assistance, housing employee info, and sending HR communications.
