I appreciate that it assists with our HR system and creates a lot of benefits for us. I enjoy using the email and texting features through recruiting because we use them a lot. The onboarding screen is another feature we use regularly. I also love Paylocity's HRIS system, and the customer service for Admin Support is amazing! Every time I call on the admin backside, they just bend over backwards to help you. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** We're having great difficulties and trouble getting our "weighted overtime" to work on the End of Paylocity which equates to that our Payroll does not spit out accurate information which would be a FLSA and Union violation, had we not had to have an outside CPA firm work to fix the numbers EVERY SINGLE Payroll (manually done by hand) that the Custom Calcs team is and remains unable to set up correctly to work. Even though the setups were done by Mary Robertson, our account rep, and the custom Calcs team originally in full they stated, it is still not importing everything properly and is not paying overtime like it should (weighted OT in WA state requires not only the regular time, but also all of the shift differentials as a whole piece in order to determine the actual Overtime aka Weighted O/T as time and a half. This is a huge problem because we cannot produce our bi-weekly payroll without being forced to doing it manually along with an outside CPA firm to assist, which we don't want to do for obvious reasons. It might force us to leave Paylocity all together for a different system. Also, setting it up was a lot of work, and getting information off of Paylocity isn't easy either. When trying to pull a file, the process is lengthy and not straightforward, taking one or two hours to download a file for example for a Subpoena, and the information doesn't come out clearly at all even then. It's not easy to pull someone's file when needed, for example, during a subpoena. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity helps us with our HRIS and Onboarding, along with day-to-day HR making things easier from start to end. ### 2. We were opted into a new feature of “single candidate profile” that sounded revolutionary, however the changes have been so minimal that we don’t even pay attention to them. We experience constant errors, bugs, getting logged out, etc. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have a list of enhancements that we are hoping Paylocity adds in order to make our lives a little easier for some tasks. ### 3. I also really like the onboarding feature. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** The customer service is very lacking. You have a great program but your people take forever to answer the phone, some are very rude and others have simply given us false information to questions about capabilities to get us off the phone. You have to keep calling until you happen to get someone capable or go back and forth with the email service who are usually very nice and better than the phones. We have been left hanging by our **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Streamlining onboarding process and also keeping everything in one place so that multiple people or departments can work on recruiting and those using it don't have to use multiple different applications for different parts i.e. outlook and messenger and a file for notes. It's more welcoming than some of the big competitors, which I appreciate. The learning curve was pretty short, and I appreciated that. The initial setup of Paylocity was easy for me and my team. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** Paylocity has several severe limitations. If we don't use their time and labor tool, we can't manage how many hours employees can use PTO, sick leave, etc. for a single day, and there's no way to track documentation properly. For example, I have to go through each employee's uploaded PDFs to figure out their disciplinary actions and their severity. It also does not support an attendance point system. I feel like I get told 'no' more than 'yes.' We have to have several different time-off leave types for each state and municipality or position, which gets cumbersome. It would be much easier to manage under one leave category with many municipalities instead of having pages worth of leave types. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Paylocity for leave type accruals management, employee documentation storage, and compliance. The reporting features are a highlight for me. ### 5. Even though there have been a few hiccups, whenever I call customer service for assistance—usually with unexpected payroll issues—I’m able to reach someone who understands what I’m dealing with and can help me get it resolved. One feature I really love is the garnishment service. It saves me a lot of time and frustration because I can scan the garnishment/child support order, drag and drop it, and then Paylocity calculates the deductions and completes the response forms on our behalf. I’ve also been made aware of other features I’m excited to start using, like the learning module and the ability to set up FAQ responses for employees to use. I’ve only been using Paylocity for about eight weeks, but overall it’s been better than I expected. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** One thing I’m not a fan of is that the standard approach for getting help is to go to the knowledge base. With other platforms, I’ve been able to share my screen and have someone walk me through system changes; here, I’m either reading directions from a document or having someone on the phone blindly guide me through the process. As I’ve become more familiar with the system, some of it has started to feel intuitive, but certain tasks are still hard to locate and sometimes seem tucked under topics where you wouldn’t think to look for them. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Garnishment feature is, by far, the best thing I’ve seen so far about Paylocity. Previously, I would spend a lot of time calculating deductions, then keying those deductions in, setting up vendors in the payroll system to issue payments to, and so on. If the learning system works similarly to the ones I’ve used in the past, I’ll be very happy with it. I’m also aware that, for my CA employee base, I have the ability to set up new-hire processes that include ALL of the required CA handouts. I haven’t initiated this process yet, but I’m looking to do so soon. ### 6. There are also a few other areas in the system that don’t “talk” to each other, so information doesn’t always carry over as it should. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** We chose Paylocity in 2025 so we could keep all our systems under one company. Onboarding is now a direct feed into our Tracks system at our stores, which has been very helpful. However, it has also caused a lot of problems because it allows duplicate SS to come into payroll. ### 7. I would like the ability to print them on my own. The onboarding is complex, and often easier to set up employee without out I feel. The timeclocks take a lot of manual time adjustments if one does not clock in before clocking out. The clocks are not very tailored to the livestock industry. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is solving the tax reporting/remittance requirements - they do all of it, which relieves alot of in office time related to payroll and makes my position more flexible. ### 8. They all point fingers at one another and it's almost impossible to get anything accomplished without raising hell. The performance functionality is not helpful. The benefits solution is clunky and they never build our plans right and the service with their FSA team is AWFUL. We alo have several integrations and consistently have issues with those. ### 9. We've been dealing with multiple issues and have open cases, particularly related to Pay Grades, Accruals reports, Cost Center, and E-Verify. My biggest complaint is with customer service. Every time we encounter a problem, it needs to be escalated, which takes weeks to resolve. It would really make a difference if they could step up their customer service, both in terms of response time and the team's knowledge. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Unfortunately, Paylocity is causing problems rather than solving them, with issues like Pay Grades, Accruals report, Cost Center, and E-Verify. There are certain things that I cannot do without messing another portion of it. Community can be great but it's very limited on the settings and access. It is clunky to perform some functions. As an owner there are some functions that I cannot perform since I am not an employee. I can create myself an employee profile to do those functions but then I am charged additional fees for that profile despite not being paid through paylocity. Many things I want to accomplish with the software's flexibility always require phone calls and multi-step configurations that are not easy to complete on my own. I always have to wait for a call back. I do not like the new billing. I don't get a copy of the bill before it is drafted from my bank account, and since the new billing protocol, the bill is ready on different days each month, which is not predictable. My two 'salespeople' are useless. I am disappointed in the accruals team, as I have been waiting for a time off policy to be completed since mid-December. The response time in support has worsened since December; there's no excuse as I waited on the phone for support for 40 minutes on Wednesday. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I had to learn payroll without training, and Paylocity has been a lot of help. I appreciate that they are always trying to come out with new features and improve. My experience with their customer support, specifically for the benefits like FSA, HSA, and COBRA, has been really excellent, prompt, and helpful. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** While I'm able to get someone via customer support pretty easily, it's always someone different. I would love to have a person assigned to us that knows our company and can be the consistent person to help me with issues. There have been times where I've been given that type of a person before, but it's very few and far between. And, typically, it doesn't last for a while. So instead, I get very inconsistent support and different types of knowledge, and especially when I have an issue that spans their different departments, like tax versus service versus payroll, they don't work well together, and I'm the one who has to work with these different departments at Paylocity. And it can be very difficult and confusing. I've had a few different issues over the years that have lasted a very long time because it's very hard to get things resolved. The problem with our initial setup was that I didn't know what questions to ask because I'd never used the system before, and there were many issues that we discovered later on from our integration that were really difficult to fix. There were things that I wish I would have known because I would have been able to clarify those and make sure things were set up correctly from the beginning. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Paylocity to run payroll, manage performance reviews, ensure compliance with state filing, and assist with hiring. ### 20. With a smaller HR department, automating processes helps free up our time to focus on more important matters. The report writer tool is awful to use, so we rely on dynamic reports, but there's not much customization available. I find the workflow automations lacking; we need more conditions to choose from and an OR feature. Also, I need more than 3 cost center options. The initial setup was a mess. I joined after implementation and had to spend my first year cleaning up from it. Reports and functionalities are occasionally removed or added without prior notice to users, which creates confusion and disrupts workflows. For example, automatic overtime reports were sent to our managers without warning, causing frustration. When we contacted support, no one on the service team was able to explain how to disable the reports. It's frustrating to not see PTO balances in real time, or to be able to change employee information when it's stuck on the last pay date. I have had 5-6 different ones in my career. It is similar to other HRIS' so it is easy to learn. It does integrate with my favorite background check vendor. I like that you can still use the old version because the new version is either missing info or buried it somewhere I can never find. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** The ATS is terrible in so many ways. You can't sort by the tags managers use to mark the reviews and the filter only works half the time. They are not pushing to indeed and I don't know why. They don't go as remote to linkedin and paylocity doesn't know why. There is no AI to help. The auto approve on the offer letters only works about 1/2 the time. Onboarding could be better. There is no way to have employees sign their job description other than to manually create an individual task for each person- even though the system holds all the JDs and knows what role the person is in. There is no way to force handbook acknowledgement. The performance review and discipline processes in the systems leave a lot to be desired. There is no way for employees to sign their performance reviews. Employees can see them before managers meet with them. The discipline is just a place to say I gave a WW, but you can't actually see the document. The bonus process seems pretty bad. we are doing a ton of work to prepare it for next year and I am not confident it is going to work. They don't have real EAF processes, its just managers going in and changing the data instead of doing an actual EAF like other vendors I have used. Employees can't elect benefits while on leave. The vacation and sick are on a delay so you never really know how much time a person has. This has resulted in many employee tears. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** its a standard HRIS. It mostly does what you expect from any of the pay titles systems out there. ### 26. It's nice and convenient to have everything in one place. I also think the new home page is a good upgrade. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** There are several processes that do not work as well as they should. For example, you can't see a fillable form as it is in process and can only see once it is fully completed. The I9 process has been a nightmare since the last upgrade. Open enrollment works well from an employee perspective, but the feeds and follow-up after enrollment from the administrative side have been a nightmare. The entire Performance process is tricky. It is customizable, but there are things that just don't work like they should - comments get cut off, things don't save, entire pages can be skipped, even though they are marked as required. We have feeds for benefits and some APIs, but we have found that outside of benefits, it doesn't interface as well as we had hoped. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paylocity is a full cycle HRIS, making it convenient to have recruiting, benefits, performance, and exits all in one place, though sometimes modules don't integrate smoothly. ### 27. I.e. workflows continuously giving us issues with employees not being able to sign. We figured out on our own that workflows must be launched in the individual companies and not the company set. However, that was almost a month of no resolution from the service team at Paylocity. Although in hindsight this makes sense as these employees did not have user accounts on the company set level, it is frustrating because the Service team at Paylocity never answered with a solution and we had to find it on our own. **What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?** When working, Paylocity is solving the issue of needing multiple different programs to coordinate responsibilities involving employees. ### 28. If you have various modules, you should be able to access them all from the employee profile. Example: I shouldn't have to leave HR & Payroll to view the employee's timecard in Time & Labor. It should link from the employee profile in HR & Payroll to their timecard to make reviews more seamless. Customer support is also not proactive when issues arise. It always takes us reaching out to our account manager to learn that issues we are experiencing are known and being experienced across all Paylocity users. PTO requests are nicely handled once set up. **What do you dislike about Paylocity?** PTO for the new year should be viewable on January 1st, but it’s not available until after the first payroll is run. When talking to an account manager, the PTO process is getting a 'fix" for the PTO availability Jan 1. The transition team did not follow through on the PTO setup as expected, making the initial setup fairly easy but still painful. Employees who work 10pm-8am (for example) show a shift of 2 hours, not 10 hours. Paylocity has suggested a work-around since the hours are not calculating correctly. This is what we do, but we should not have to remember to add in our heads - Paylocity should have the accurate information at all times. ### 38.
