  ### 25. Payfactors lets us manage our compensation surveys and conduct market pricing plus a whole lot more

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin G. | Compensation Senior Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Unlike prior software that put all the work on the customer, Payfactors has dedicated support to make sure the market data is uploaded, aggregated and modeled to our specifications. Pricing jobs is easy and intuitive, the addition of peer data provides a valuable secondary source of data to supplement the surveys we purchase, and their location differentials have been helpful as well.

Beyond the basics, there are all sorts of analytics, customer resources, trend surveys and learning opportunities. We've used them for almost five years and still haven't seen everything.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

My only minor complaint is that it's not easy to browse survey job categories without having a specific pricing project in mind. Sometimes you just want to see what kind of categories are available.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aggregating survey data and informing our decisions about salary ranges and pay grades. We can weight the matches as we see fit and model changes to our structure and how it would impact the employe population.

  ### 26. Love it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | Head of HR and IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It's super simple to use and I'm able to drill down data for reporting

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It can be difficult to find roles that I believe should be standard (ie Chief Legal Officer) when other roles for more public service roles are prevelant. It's an issue tailored to me, but I think more broad prive-sector roles would be helpful.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the ability to run accurate and complete compensation studios across our organization

  ### 27. Flexible Role Weighting, But Geofactor Pay Needs Improvement for Staffing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

the ability to combine and weight portions of different roles.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

For the staffing industry, geofactors pay difference does not mat what an association like SIA provides. So sometimes we have roles where pay differentials are not enough or are too much, because of the industry we are in.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pricing current roles and new roles as well.

  ### 28. Quarterly Reviews with Payfactors

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I like being able to compare to other roles in the same industry, even if the salaries seem very off. It's pretty user friendly, and the customer support is quick and efficient.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

We have to tailor a lot of jobs to suit us as there are few true equivalents in the market.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Comparisons with market data, pricing new roles we've created and benchmarking data.

  ### 29. Comprehensive Compensation Tool with Room for Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The detailed compensation benchmarking and ability to customize data sets make Payfactors stand out. The platform provides reliable market insights that simplify pay equity and decision-making. Customer support is fantastic and we use this tool frequently and its simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The interface can feel outdated, and some processes are not as intuitive as they could be, requiring additional training for new users. Integration with other HR systems could also be improved for better workflow automation. Implementation can be a bit lengthy depending on how easy and fast you can access your own data.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is solving challenges around compensation benchmarking, pay equity, and market analysis by providing a centralized platform for data-driven decisions. It helps ensure competitive and fair pay practices, streamlines the process of participating in salary surveys, and reduces manual efforts in analyzing compensation data. This benefits us by improving efficiency, enhancing our ability to attract and retain top talent, and ensuring compliance with evolving pay equity regulations.

  ### 30. Payfactors makes tracking pay changes easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pamela M. | HR Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I love the real time data we get on like companies to ours in the marketplace. It makes pay discussions with managers and employees easier when they can compare their wage with others and compare benefits as well. Implentation was great as well. The trainers at Payfactor walk you through everything you need to know to use the product right away. We had a very tight deadline to start and they got us up and running in no time. Thank you to that team!

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

So far there is nothing I dont really like.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With other pay information the wages are all already old when you get them. With Payfactor you get realtime market analysis at your fingertips.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

This year our team started fully using more capibilities in Payfactors. We used the pay structures tool to update all of our structures instead of doing it manually offline. This was a big improvement for this year. We have also appreciated the help we have gotten to update our employee data and survey data so that going forward we can do this easier and a lot less offline manually. The time savings has really helped our team out.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I would like to see some more live trainings or one on one with newer products and enhancements.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is a helping us keep our compensation data up to date, a place to easily update our compensation structures or even just prove out potential updates and compare them. We used to do a lot of this offline in spreadsheets but as our company has grown this isn't as feasible. Payfactors has helped us manage things quicker and more efficiently. Especially after working with our team at Payfactors who helped us to use the tool itself more efficiently where we had not been before.

Still relatively new to Payfactors, at this time nothing is coming to mind .

I really enjoy how fast it is to benchmark our jobs and how we can keep all of our matches in one platform and update the benchmark matches each time new data comes out in mass. Our customer success team and technical account manager are awesome to work with!

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors provides me with data specific to my industry. I like that the solution also offers Geographic Differentials and Minimum Wage resources. The support from their customer success team is excellent. The best feature is the Hospitality Peer Group and the data that is provided with that group.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I have been using Payfactors for almost 5 years. I still find it time consuming to pull data for multiple positions.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I utlize Payfactors for Salary Benchmarking to be sure my organization is paying appropriately. The Account Manager for the Hospitality Peer Group is an outstandng professional and has brought so much to that product. She has increased the frequency that the data is uploaded, has reduced the age of the data and has implemented several tools that are useful to me.

  ### 41. Complex

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Customer service, they were always available to help.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The complexity. As a department of one, it was tough to try to get training, when time did not allow. With Insight Lab it was just easy without all of the training.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We paid $5,000 for this software and really was unable to use it because didn't have time for training.

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer H. | Chief People Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The actual Data housed is most beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The onboarding process is long. Feels like there are separate businesses owning each part of the process. Most of the training is virtual and not in person. Once you get signed as a customer you are left on an island. It's clear that Reps have different levels of knowledge, enaggement and customer service.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Navigagting the tool and set-up takes a long time and requires mostly virtual training.

  ### 45. Budget-friendly solution for reliable market data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek F. | Strategic Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I really appreciate that our subindustry (post-acute health care) is clearly represented in the data. I looked for this data for a long time before having Payfactors. I find the data to be reliable which is very important to building our wage scales and staying competitive.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The platform is not the most user-friendly. As the main user, I have learned how to navigate it pretty well, but other less frequent users in our organization seem to have trouble remembering how to access the info they want to find.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brings visibility into competitive compensation, including base wage and bonuses.

  ### 46. Our experience has been good, not great

The ability to purchase survey data right from Payfactors. The job description manager tool. The ability to create and share projects. The multiple sources of data we can use.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Not easily customizable. Employer support is difficult (I would rather have a direct contact then have to submit a ticket online). The ability to add/create internal pay grades based on Payfactors data

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to purchase Mercer salary data, and in cnjuction with HRMA data, helped us to create internal pay ranges. The JD manager tool is helping to streamling job descriptions, although admittedly we aren't using it as much as we should

  ### 48. Ease to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krista P. | Vice President, Employee Success, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The Quick Price functionality is very helpful as is the integration with our HR system (BambooHR), so updates to compensation and new hires/terminations flow easily between the two systems.
I like how we can price in multiple pay markets and blend jobs for positions that may be untraditional roles.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Data for some pay markets is more difficult to find, specifically in Europe and occasionally in some cities or provinces in Canada.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring jobs are fairly priced in their respective pay market and against companies in our industry and our size.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The interface makes it easy to quickly price a job.

I'd like to be able to dig into specific surveys, but am getting used to the blended approach.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Market pricing

  ### 50. Great with some things to keep in mind

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Ease of use, quickly getting insight into market for various areas.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Some inconsistency when using compensable factors that don't quite make sense. I know however this is based on the fact that in my area we have a smaller sample size

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to google our area on various sites, we save time and money in numerous ways using payfactors. We however only use it for market price data sets not the other functionality.
