**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors is easy to maneuver. Payfactors offers webinars and certifications. There is an abundance of tools to utilize on the platform.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Obtaining the correct report can be a little difficult.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Now that I was recently informed about the AI capabilities to write job descriptions, that will be easier to do. We need to update job descriptions and add more to some of the descriptions.

  ### 2. Great tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors is great for getting data from the market and keeping track of trends. It helps with collaboration on changing of compensation strategies and providing the data needed to support these initiatives and decisions.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Sometimes it is hard to determine what was done previously and by who.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is our standard for market matching and benchmarking. We also use the add for payequity. As a data-nerd I enjoy the output and being able to tailor the outputs as needed (market % etc). The pay equity module is very thorough, but can be a little clunky and labor intensive.

  ### 3. Salary Data at your Fingertips

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeanette S. | Director of Compensation and Benefits, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It is easy to use for multiple geographic locations at the same time. I also love the analytics dashboard reports and the peer capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

would like to see ranges associated with years of service

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to gauge our pay with the market to assist with job offers and ongoing merit increases to keep our great talent.

**Official Response from Anna Spessard:**

  ### 4. New to Payfactors, but not new to Payscale. So far so good!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna M. | Compensation Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors houses a lot of great data from a lot of different industries making it easy for small organizations to utilize market data without purchasing high cost salary surveys. I also like that it does have the capability to utilize third party surveys, though, if and when we ever decide to do so. My organization just went through Job Data Management orientation with our customer rep at Payscale. The implementation went beyond out expectatiosn. Our rep spent significant time with us and working on our behalf. Additionally, Payscale has always responded promptly to any issues or questions that have come up in our journey to utilize this tool to its full potential.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I started at an organization that used Marketpay and because of this, I felt like there was a steep learning curve going between the two. I liked the detail and the scalability of Marketpay better. It would be nice to see some documentation that compared the two products and how they overlap and differ betwen their capabilities.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I walked into an organization with a very unorganized pay structure and philosophy that was not being consistently followed. Payfactors has helped tremensly in getting our job descriptions organized and stored in a central space. It has also allowed for me to benchmark and place our jobs in appropriate ranges based on the market. We hope to utilize some of Payscale's equity tools in the future.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The ability to filter by sector, market, org size, revenue, etc.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Some perhaps more industry-specific roles simply do not exist on Payfactors, hard to find comparable

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors has been a useful tool for conducting industry and market benchmarking, to help us understand where our compensation stands against some of our competitors. This has an important part of our process in creating and maintaining our salary structure, as well as ad hoc checks against the latest market data when making new employment offers.

  ### 10. Small businesses now have reliable data and insights!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The platform is intuitive and has great features. We use the platforms as part of the PEERS program, making our compensation practices more sound. We are a small company, but we often use the Quick Job search. It's been an easy transition for our leaders to accept, and they like the ability to get specific information on the data filters (pay market specifics).

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

We're a small company, but we want to be intentional in pricing. The platform seems designed for much larger companies and has many features we don't need to use.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to use reliable data so that our employees can trust that we're doing our due diligence as a company. These are salaries reported directly from employers and it's new data. In the past, we would be able to acquire benchmarking data but it would be outdated.

  ### 17. pay tool that streamlines your work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stacey A. | Talent Acquisition Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I love that everything is in one place I can have my JD, employee data, and market information all in there. No more having to go to multiple data sources. It makes my job so much easier and less time-consuming. It was also really easy to implement; pretty much plug and play which is what I always look for in software tools.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Downside is we do have some unique-to-us type positions and it isn't always easy to find the right match but the customer service is always super helpful when I need ideas of what could work.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing me to show data on where we are doing well pay equity wise and where we are not. Where we need to rethink our benchmarking on our positions due to the movement of the markets.

I find Payfactors to be very user friendly and the company seems to keep improving the user experience.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I like the old community forum. The way it is now I don't find very user friendly.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like the market index report to see how our positions and employees are up against the market data we have them tied to.

Jamie McGovern my Customer Service Manager is always reponsive, follows up as promises and provides information needed quickly.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I would like more state salary threshold information in Payfactors. The system provides great information on state minimum hourly rate changes, I think salary threshold information would be vaulable to clients as well.

Sometimes the peer data can be limited, but this can result from our company's location and size when trying to find a comparable company for benchmarking. However, you can continually expand the parameters to include more cities.

Many employees are leaving for higher compensation, and with Payfactors, we can benchmark market data throughout the year to ensure we are correctly compensating our employees.

  ### 27. Awesome

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jocelyn B. | Compensation Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The ease of access and use is a big thing for most of us. When implementing different things, it is typically not a chore and it's straightforward. There aren't many features that aren't difficult to use, but those that are, we don't use frequently because they are more for integrations on the tech side of things. We frequently use payfactors and the customer support is awesome. What we also love is that there are free conferences and other reasonably priced sessions to help us become better hr professionals.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The cost is a bit high but it is not a deal breaker because what we pay for is excellent! Well worth every penny!

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating job descriptions, more equitable pay scales, and better salary benchmarking.

  ### 28. Easy to use, plethora of resources, and reliable data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren N. | Senior Compensation Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

PayFactors provides an easy-to-use platform with reliable data. I enjoy the search functionalities that allow ytou to use key words to find matching snippets aside from title. I also enjoy being able to break it down by Job Family to peruse for related benchmarks. I am a daily user and very rarely encounter a role I can't find suitable data for.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

No complaints, but perhaps the searches being a bit more intuitive. For example, if a title has "Service" versus "Services," it might recognize similar titles. I wish there was a way to see differential and other specialty information we encounter in healthcare.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We conduct most of our analyses for ad hoc reviews and market pricing through PayFactors as our primary source. It provides up-to-date data for us to manage requests as they arise.

  ### 29. Get resource!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It does take some screen time to get comfortable playing around in payfactors.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors has taken the difficult and time consuming research out of compensation planning. It saves me time, but I still know I have the best information and data out there.

  ### 30. Comprehensive and easy to use compensation system!

I feel they lack on the international data available.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's always tough to keep up with the market and have access to timely data, but with Payfactors that's a guarantee, and it's easy! Payfactors also delivers multiple sources of data which bolsters my confidence in the integrity and strength of our pay ranges.

  ### 31. Very Useful!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Pros
- great for pricing positions in different markets
- really enjoy the quick price feature

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Cons
- sometimes positions 'leave' the system. like if you matched your position to one in payfactors, the next time you price your position, the position you matched to in payfactors may no longer exist in payfactors

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

quick pricing of positions

  ### 32. Payfactors has been an instrumental system for our organization.

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The functionality is great, and their customer service is amazing!!

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The lack of utilizing different annual hours for pay equity reports.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A streamlined compensation process that produces market data findings quickly and efficiently.

  ### 33. Payfactors Overall Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The dataset for HR Market Analysis is very robust. The platform has remained consistent over time.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The Peer dataset hasn't grown as much as we anticipated, but it is still pretty good. The user interface, while it has remained consistent, could be easier. For example, you can't see data cuts on the pricing project screen - only when hovering over the job title. Few check-ins from customer support to see how things are going.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As compensation consultants, it serves largely as a data warehouse for our survey library, aging the data towards a common date and percentage. We then output pricing projects to Excel to do more analysis.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactos is great at providing comp data on traditional jobs.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The Payfactor implementation team was very hard to work with. We've been with them over a year and still don't have a fully functioning account. Lack of data available for non-traditional jobs.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. It's been a challenging partnership.

  ### 35. Comprehensive

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Great customer service and administrative support.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Wish it was more intuitive, particularly reporting, and that you could match multiple peer JD's to a job.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compensation planning and benchmarking

  ### 36. Compensation Analyst

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It allows you the ability to load and review multiple salary surveys from multiple sources, at one time.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The system doesn't allow you to review external job postings when market pricing a job.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors has allowed me to simplify pricing a job over multiple markets.

  ### 37. Amazing amount of data if you can do a deep dive

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The amount of data that is available for compensation planning purposes.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The amount of time and commitment required to truly master the system.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Establishing equitable pay ranges for our positions. It gives us credibility with our Board and members and staff.

  ### 38. Great for smaller organizations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily E. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

We recently moved to Payfactors and the training materials for use and optimation have been incredibly helpful. The multiptude of features really allows us to customize the comp experience for our org.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

There is a learning curve when coming from PayScales but it a better model for our organization and I look forward to utalizing it fully in the next coming months.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors gives validity to the compensation planning, job grade, salry review, etc processes within the compensation area of our HR team. It allows us to provide education and transparency to our senior leadership, managers and IC's regarding recommended or current compensation.

  ### 39. Easy to use!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Maritime | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Easy to use, love the interface, reliable data, excellent customer service, effective training provided for new users

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Nothing! We really like everything about the system.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is helping ensure we are staying consistent with market data for our office employees.

  ### 40. Honest Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I like the export feature available in the system.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Not as user friendly as some of the previous systems used. For example, it is harder to view and especially access/edit our benchmarked jobs. Also, it made things easier when we had our own assigned customer representative.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping me figure out how to keep my information current.

  ### 41. Has changed our compensation dept

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deidre D. | Sr Director, HR Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Our job descriptions are in a central respository and easily accessable for all that need to review or access and the ability to load our surveys and connect our roles to pricing is invaluable.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The only downside i have experienced so far is the limitation to roll our your roles for signature, it is all or nothing and they get an updated link everytime it changes. it would be nice to be able to manage this more at the admin level.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the ability to have all of our data in one place to make quicker decisions for all of our leaders.

  ### 42. Survey participation needs to be enhanced further

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Flexibility of reporting and extra fields.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Survey participation process is still not as efficient given the challenge with mapping to roles where market data does not exist. Additionally, integration to HRIS system remains challenging. Pay Factors should create tables to avoid unecessary data storage within HRIS.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we were able to load job-based ranges for all roles and capture benchmark for data purposes (e.g., a roll-up) as well as the actual benchmark (even when data does not exist). This was however a VERY tedious exercise.

  ### 43. Transition to Payfactors

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I love the QuickPrice function. So many times, I am being asked to look at pricing or even job titles we do not yet have in our company. This function is awesome to look at titles, brief descriptions, and evaluate the pricing even in our markets!

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

This is not a dislike of Payfactors, but of our process. Without having a direct feed from our HRIS to Payfactors, data can become outdated pretty quickly. Just from the time we loaded employees in the system to the end of our job pricing, we had already had a whole round of exempt pay increases and the data is no longer updated.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing us to have market data (and now 2 sets of data) at my fingertips. Being able to ensure we are meeting the market and planning in ways to beat the market. It gives the "why" to compensation and helps guide us to continue to meet our pay goals.

  ### 44. It is user friendly and the updates made significant improvements in advancing compensation plans

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The ease of use and the availability of information to make decisions.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I have had some issues with the reporting. Just inaccuracies.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reporting is allowing me to see who is out of our ranges with a simple dashboard. This also helps me with pay transparnecy as it arises.

  ### 45. Payfactors

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah S. | Human Resources Coordinator II, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Allows you to easily make copies of Job Descriptions. Able to see the status of the JD when approval is required. Keeps tracj of the date and time when the last changes were made.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I wish there was a way to upload a report to bulk update information if needed. If this application is available, I'm unware of it.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily able to manage every positions JD. You can search them all at once, but it also allows you to manage and assign approvers when managers want to make changes.

  ### 46. User Friendly Salary Data Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Fast, easy, relevant salary market data.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

There is nothing so far that I dislike about Payfactors.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing custom markets. Quick salary data for benchmarking. Potentially will use for our main Position Management (job description tool). Equity.

  ### 47. Excellent reliable data.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wendy G. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

salary information at your fingertips - reliable data

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The inability to get other ancillary compensaiton information

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PRoviding our clients with market data

  ### 48. Good experience with PayFactors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad C. | Senior Compensation and Benefits Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The things I like most about PayFactors is its ability to allow me to see up to date market information, review previous market pricing projects without having to start from scratch, and to adjust markets I am looking at with a click of the button. These combined benefits help me to expedite high priority market pricing requests as well as look back historically to see how the market has shifted for various roles or segments of the business within a certain period of time.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Running a report on a pricing project I have completed is easy. Finding the report though is more challenging. I wish that it would just download it and show up as a download on the top of my browser instead of needing to click a few times to navigate to another section of PayFactors just to access the report I made. The other thing that I wish was better were the technologies listed within IT roles. As I have shared summaries with IT leaders, they have shared the the listed technologies are out of date or no longer receiving support. This makes it more challenging to convincce them of the quality of the data.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PayFactors is making up to date data be available when I need it. This simplifies the market pricing process which gives me more time to assess the organization for things like pay equity.

  ### 49. Excellent Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The platform has an excellent training system for users.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It's a bit complicated, but for good reason.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reviewing our pay structure for internal and external equity and ensuring our market strategy is working for us.

  ### 50. Payfactors Honest Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kausha T. | People and Culture Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I enjoy that the product is user-friendly and easy to navigate. I also enjoy all of the different training courses that are offered,

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I dislike that we are limited with some options when it comes to matching jobs. The system provides a base line but I wish you could alter the requirements to get it closers to fit the job we are looking for.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being remote has helped us to stay competitive by understanding the market that our team members are in, and we have been able to make competitive offers and have a good baseline understanding of what each position should be listed at.
