Technology twenty years behind the times **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026 **What do you like best about Paycom?** Paycom has made timeclock and payroll processing more straightforward for us, and given our employees easier access to related documentation. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** Nearly everything else about the system is patently awful. We are a lean team and are in this tool every day, and we still cannot get it to work for our needs, which Paycom has been unresponsive to when we express that concern, to the point we are likely reverting to the tools we used before the implementation. In fact, during sales and implementation, we were told things that the system could do that it absolutely cannot do, and feel like we were sold vaporware. This tool is at least 20 years behind the competition in this space, and is not terribly concerned with closing that gap. The ATS in particular is antiquated and possesses absolutely none of the features of a modern ATS. The UI is unintuitive and often takes 10 steps to do what can be done in two - I know because the three other tools I've used in the last five years can do it in two (or fewer). The implementation was also concerning. I asked why we weren't running a parallel payroll with our old system before implementation and was told "that's not how we do it". Fortunately, we ran an off-cycle payroll before our main one to find the *dozens* of problems that would have surfaced in the main payroll. And when we flagged these, there was a total lack of urgency on Paycom's part. They wanted us to run the payroll and fix the problems after, but then we would not have been certain they were fixed before running our main payroll. Support is responsive, but does not take the time to understand the core question before answering reflexively. The self-service model reduces manual payroll intervention, improves data accuracy at the source, and keeps HR, payroll, time, and benefits fully integrated—so I can see payroll impacts and compliance in real time without relying on multiple systems or reconciliation workarounds. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** The biggest challenges have been execution, transparency, and the overall support experience rather than the core software itself. Requests are often discussed in meetings but not reliably carried through to completion, resulting in unnecessary meetings that do not lead to resolution and requiring significant customer follow-up to move issues forward. Billing transparency is limited, making independent validation and internal governance difficult. I would make one slight change with the Push Reporting feature. I wish there was a way to automatically send a link directly to the report and not have to log into the Client Inbox to review it. The automation of numerous processes ensures efficiency and prevents oversights. The customer service is outstanding, characterized by proactive and continuous support, ensuring smooth operation of the program. Even though assistance is rarely needed due to the system's robustness, their readiness to help is always comforting. The assistance during the initial setup was exceptional as well, with an implementation team that is easy to work with and provides on-site training, enhancing our transition to Paycom. Overall, Paycom comprehensively meets all my HR and payroll needs, eliminating the necessity to integrate it with any other software. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I think everything is great! A dedicated, boots-on-the-ground support person! Shout out to Makayla! 2. instructional videos ( I am a new user) 3. Honesty - there are a few things that could be more user-friendly and Paycom owns their shortcomings. 4. Updates rolled out all the time! **What do you dislike about Paycom?** 1. The landing page for admins could be cleaner, no place to save favorite tabs, or the most common tabs. 2. New AI tool is ok, but not really AI yet. It just spits back information that might be two mouseclicks away. I am waiting for AI support for using the system AND for running reports. I would pay double to have that functionality. 3. LMS gets a 5/10, need more updated content. 4.
