The idea of getting your message spread to larger groups is the basis of this company. They make it easy to create experiences where the person reposting your content also benefits. The amount of money is not terrible, but there are ways you could do these same things without paying. It would be a bit more leg work, but not impossible. This is a great way to share your content while also building your brand online. You offer people a piece of content that they can get once they "pay with a tweet" or in other words once they agree to tweet whatever message you would like them to tweet. The great thing is it encourages other people to ask them what it is all about and it lets them share while getting rewarded for it. It's a much better way to give content because now they are being a brand ambassador for you, you're growing your list, and others are learning about you all at the same time. I think you may lose out on some people agreeing to pay with a tweet if they are not an avid twitter user or they don't like the idea of spreading a message about a company just to get whatever you are offering as content. Despite being a bit controversial (social media posts as a currency?), this service gets the job done as it definitely increases the number of social engagements with the content we offer on our website, such as reports, ebooks and infographics. This can be seen especially in some areas of the product that could use a UX improvements. The implementation on the website could have been easier, especially without the need for web developer.
