Overall it’s been a very smooth experience. Emails send normally without portals or extra passwords so it makes communicating with patients much easier. It’s especially convenient for sending X-rays and treatment plans while maintaining HIPAA compliance. The biggest advantage is simplicity for both staff and patients. One downside of Paubox is that it mainly encrypts emails during transit rather than offering full end-to-end encryption, so emails may not remain protected once they reach the recipient’s inbox. It’s also relatively expensive for small practices, especially when adding advanced security features. It's a very easy platform to use. I can't say that I've used all of the features, but for HIPAA compliant email I found it pretty easy to set up (with their instructions) and after that I've found to be pretty intuitive. If someone enters the wrong email address, HIPAA information can end up being sent to the wrong person, so you really have to remember to use the secure option.
